    Hamlet dance

by Amethyst on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

Perfection- loved the costumes; dancing was beyond excellent - fluid and powerful, passionate - the music amplified the dance- the synchronicity was breathtaking to witness. Riveted. Good choice in not having intermission- it would have ruined the build up of intense emotion. The dancers enthralled us; every dancer moved in an exquisite manner that spoke to the interaction, the relationship with each character. My daughter is a Shakespeare fan and she told me that it was ironic that her favourite Hamlet is this production - Shakespeare without words!! We are so happy to have seen this! Would love to see it again. Any chance of making a DVD / Blu -ray we can buy. Definitely worth it. I give 6 stars - beyond 5. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Amazing!

by Ballet Lover on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

I have been a fan of ballet and a dancer forever. I have watched Guillaume dance many times. It was wonderful to see Greta again and to see that she is just as amazing as she ever was. Guillaume has assembled a talented and inspiring group of dancers and I was completely blown away by this production. It is clear to see that Guillaume has a vision of the future that has so much wonderful work yet to come. I am not necessarily a huge fan of Shakespeare but this modern take on the iconic play was a true pleasure to watch and proves that dance can say so much more than mere words. Congratulations to Guillaume, the amazing talented dancers and everyone who was a part of this production!

    Beautiful and dynamic

by Kay on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

Beautiful visuals and use of lights/shadows during this production of Hamlet! The interactions between the set and characters were dynamic on stage and immersed the story beyond use of words. The choreography really picked up in the second half as the story unfolded.

    Definitely a memorable experience

by Hasmik on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

Robert Lapage’s imagination always challenges the viewer pushing the boundaries of performing art. Visual effects, decorations and the music were all in perfect harmony. It is hard to interpret Shakespeare, but he did it so masterfully. Guillaume Cote’s choreography brought it home. Modern and classical elements of dance/ballet were perfect in showing the classical and timeless qualities that Shakespeare inspires.

    An outstanding, moving performance

by Brad on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

An amazing performance that brought me to tears on several occasions. I would not have guessed that performing Hamlet entirely in dance would have been effective. It is. It's stunning. In particular the dancers portraying Ophelia (Carleen Zouboules), Laertes (Lukas Malkowski), and Horatio (Natasha Poon Woo) stole every scene they were in.

by Jay on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

Robert LePage and Guillaume Cote are giants, magic together and both geniuses. The choreography was wonderful and the effects were awe inspiring. I love seeing Guillaume and Greta dance together. I wish the performance was recorded so that we could purchase a copy for future viewing. Look forward to the next collaboration. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

    Absolutely exceptional

by MSB on 2024-04-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

Everything about this rendition of Hamlet was perfect . I was curious to see how a literary masterpiece would translate into ballet. It was perfect. The dance creative and beautiful, the score perfectly supportive of all the diverse emotions. The set design imaginative and compelling. I notice that the entire audience was completely still during the performance. Everyone was riveted and spellbound.

What an event to celebrate Shakespeare and its legacy to society. The event was amazing and it served as a reminder of the power of theatre to transcend time and space, bringing people together in shared moments of joy and reflection. I loved it and would recommend people go at least once to experience it.

    Hamlet

by Alm on 2024-04-08Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

The choreography was creative and on point. The set effects accomplished their goals well. The lighting is conveying the atmosphere but it is a bit too dim to enjoy the dance fully. The music in times was too repetitive for the duration of the piece. All the dancers are strong and into character. Very enjoyable piece!

    Well worth it!

by McKenzie Jones on 2024-04-07Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

This was a great show - the dancers so very talented, as I expected. I wasn't sure that this complex story could successfully be told in dance alone, but it worked well! The imagery was very creative, particularly Ophelia's death as well as the murder of Hamlet's father. I would definitely see another collaboration like this.

by So creative, so original, so thought-provoking. I'm SO GLAD I WENT. Robert and Guillaume, along with the entire cast are geniuses. on 2024-04-07Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - Toronto

I couldn't take my eyes off the dancers for one second. I was challenged, provoked, tempted, and surprised. Robert LePage and Guillaume Cote are National treasures. I might add that I had exceptional assistance from the production company and Ticketmaster when I needed to do a ticket exchange at the last minute. Such a relief to receive such exceptional customer service. Many thanks to Svetlana and Tom for making my ticket swap a seamless and problem-free experience.
