    Great Performances & Great Visual

by Modes on 2016-02-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

From the overture to the finale, we were treated to a very professional and crisp performance by the entire cast & orchestra. The set transitions were smooth and relevant. Costumes and lighting to match. My only "complaint" would be the clarity of the actors speaking voices wasn't always there. Despite that little hiccup, I would definitely recommend this show.

    Good show

by Lucas34 on 2016-02-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

A good musical that lasts about 2 hours, filled with colourful decor, humour, and great songs. I felt the show relied a bit too much on animated projections though. It could have been more creative. The costumes were not as exceptional as I would have expected them to be.

    Not worth the price

by Anonymous on 2016-02-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Poorest Broadway production we have seen. the Lion was the only bright spot. Save your money for a better show. Show relies on Video too much. Singing and dancing only OK.

It was an enjoyable show but I felt like it was missing a bit of the magic that was in the movie. The sets and the changes were excellent and loved seeing little toto but overall, it didn't quite live up to expectations.

Nothing that was really different than the movie. Compared to the Lion King there appeared to be no innovation from the original.

    exactly what I expected

by lmkevk on 2016-02-26Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My Grandson and I enjoyed it very much. I'll have to be more selective with our seats next time as we had many "heads" between us and the show.

    Wizard of Oz a delight

by AndreaT on 2016-02-26Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Characters, music, set, technology, all combined for a great show. my Favorites include the Scarecrow, the Wtich, Toto, and of course, Dorothy. Loved the new added music, too.

Fabulous! Makes going to the theatre worth it!

by icqt on 2016-02-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was definitely a play worth going to see. It was entertaining and light hearted. The actors put their all into it and the music was fantastic. I had a 5 & 6 yr old with me and the 5 yr old was mesmerized. The 6 yr old wanted to know where his popcorn was. :P It was great. The dog never missed a cue. The hole thing was amazing. Even set changes. & it wasn't rushed. The got the entire movie on a stage without feeling like you were watching in fast forward.

    Childhood dream come true..

by Mavreen on 2016-02-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I played the wicked witch in grade school and have loved this musical ever since. This musical was my first and the most amazing one it was. I laughed, I cried, I cheered.. the perfect actors, the quintessential music, and out of this world special effects for a stage musical. You made my childhood dream come true. Best of all, I got to share this wonderful experience with my daughters as it was their first musical as well. Thank you for the perfect mother/daughter day...

    Meh

by Anonymous on 2016-02-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Unfortunately, I want blown away by this show. It really was just ok. The performers were good, but it was just an average show. I'm glad I only got the cheapest Sears available. I would not have felt good if I'd bought the $150 tickets. Toto was probably my favorite.

    Pretty good

by Reannie on 2016-02-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I love the Wizard of Oz and they did a good job. I personally would have preferred they stuck to the original story line and left out the new songs. I saw this play in 2009 at Alberta Theater and enjoyed the authenticity of that play more. Things like the munchkins wearing identical outfits and props to the originals in the movie make a difference to me; in this newer version they had scooters? This one was good though. Some funny bits, good acting and of course good singing.

    Save Your Money

by esteemecho on 2016-02-23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I give this a 3 out of 5 forgetting the fact that I paid $200 for 4 of us to sit in the nosebleeds. this was not worth the $$$. The highlights were the actress who played Dorothy (great job) and the dog who played Toto (impressive). The special effects were pretty good; but as my wife said, they're no replacement for a lacklustre performance. The dance numbers smacked of a lack of effort - it's like the choreographer had better things to do. Costumes - meh. And the scarecrow was awful. I didn't think it was possible to overact on stage, but there it is. To be fair, whoever played that role had terrible lines and was forced to repeat the same ridiculous joke 6-7 times (spoiler alert, scarecrow can't remember what he needs from the wizard). A couple of songs were added to the original score - they were surprisingly dull considering Andrew Lloyd Webber had a hand in them.

    WoO was mediocre

by Willow909 on 2016-02-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Set design was exceptional as were the costumes however I felt the cast and acting were flat and lacklustre.
