Expected real Broadway quality of actors, unfortunately actors didnt do their best on the stage. Rather were playing another dull performance. Orchestra wasnt cohesive either. Good for the kids.
The show was amazing! The cast was fantastic and the special effects were very well done! Todo was awesome!
My husband and I took our 7 year old grandson to see this fantastic performance. We all loved it. The songs were familiar and fun. The witches excellent, although at one point the Wicked Witch of the West didn't seem to know if the microphone was on or not. We were wondering how they were going to deal with the flying monkies and we were not disappointed! We would definitely go to another performance like this. This was our grandson's second full length perfomance as we went to see The Nutcracker before Christmas. My only suggestion would be to have a children's priced ticket, at least for some of the shows. They had such a ticket price for the Nutcracker and it was greatly appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful show!
Real high quality show, amazing sounds and props... Acting and singing were terrific! all in all, a fantastic event
I loved the way Andrew Llloyd Webber has taken the theatre aspect and blended it with the movie without losing its theatrical beauty. My granddaughter , 8, who usually sits for nothing was encapsulated from beginning to end. Well done!
It was one of the best shows I have seen the effects for a stage show were amazing. I would see it again. Well worth the money spent !!!
The Wizard of Oz was great. The cast was amazing! Set & special affects were wonderful. Venue however, sucked!!! I would not recommend going to see the Wizard of Oz at Ottawa's National Art Centre! The experience over shadowed the play. I will not be heading back the the NAC any time soon to see a play!!!! They did not handle the large crowds well. It took us 30 mins to stand in line for the bathroom! The main bathroom area had 3 stalls!!!! The line up for the 1 concession took 25 mins. The intermission was only 20 mins so we were late for the 2nd half. They only have 1 coat check area for the size of the venue. Every where was a line up. We had great seats but if you weren't first to get there you had to bother 30 people to get to your seat. They need more aisle to access the seats better. Maybe they should take some pointers from the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto, much better place to see s show. Too bad it's farther away!
The show far exceeded our expectations.. what a wirlwind of wonder.. the actors and actresses were exceptionally talented.. even Totto was great.. The wicked witch did an amazing job of mastering the role and Dorothy was incredible.. all the main characters portrayed their roles with such precision.. AMAZING JOB EVERYONE!!
The Wizard of Oz is now, by far, one of my favourite broadway shows! It was full of wonderfully colourful stage sets, amazing costumes, spectacular performers and Toto was a real dog!! I couldn't stop smiling...it was a perfect show! Thank you Wizard of Oz performers at the NAC in Ottawa for such a memorable experience!
The acting, singing , the sets and the technical effects were awesome! Entirely entertaining from beginning to end! The new Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice songs were excellent. Sarah Lasko's (Dorothy) singing and acting were also a highlight. And of course, Toto (Nigel) was the sweetest dog! A must see!!
Great show, alot of fun for all ages and very well done! The sys and the bright colours of stuff was beautiful with cool effects. The music and sound effects were wonderful and on cue and the actors were funny, genuine and we're awesome singers. I was just as a little disappointed with our sets for the price I payed I thought we would have been a little closer.
This is a production which didn't thrill me. There were few "shining" voices (maybe the tin man and the Wicked Witch of the West). The rest left me hoping for a stand-out solo and it just never happened. Acoustics in the NAC venue may have been a factor in the 2nd balcony, but they shouldn't have been. The use of projected film segments was good, costuming rather inconsistent, and the yellow-brick-road set was very low-tech.
A true Broadway show. Great sets, costumes, singing and dancing. Toto was adorable
Canned entertainment for the kids that wasn't all that kid friendly. I could have done without the homophobia-tinged humour around the cowardly lion. I thought the costumes were shabby and the sets looked cheesey. I don't think turning everything into a song makes a musical better, but that was clearly the producers' aspiration. Save your money.
The show was very well done! It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon with my 6-year old daughter. The story was well respected and the special effects made it even more memorable. I strongly recommend it.
Although the costumes and sets were nice, the talent in this production was mediocre. I have been to see many musicals and this was my least favourite.
This was the best musical stage production I have seen. The sets and costumes were absolutely amazing! All performances were incredible!
Bought tickets for my daughter, who LOVES the Wizard of Oz. She brought me along. And I have to say, I have never been a fan of the movie, but I really enjoyed this live version!! Had a great time, even though I had to keep going from side to side to see around the head in front of me!
Simply perfect entertainment --- suitable for all ages! Great staging, singing, and acting! Full evening of fun!
One of the best shows I've ever seen! Bravo to this amazing cast! The actress playing Dorothy was super talented. The voices and singing technic of the two witches amazed me...especially the witch of the east! Wow!!!
