About

Thirty Seconds to Mars began as a musical outlet for brothers Jared and Shannon Leto in 1998, and the pair have remained the core of the experimental rock group throughout its existence. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2002 and broke onto the Billboard 200; it went on to sell over 2 million copies. Thirty Seconds to Mars experienced a jump for their 2005 follow-up A Beautiful Lie, which featured their first Hot 100 single “The Kill (Bury Me)” and first No. 1 on the Alternative Airplay chart in “From Yesterday.” The band supported the album with their first headlining tour in 2006. This Is War arrived in 2009, followed by the band’s Into the Wild world tour, which set a Guinness World Record for "longest concert tour by a rock band" between 2010 and 2011. The band’s subsequent two albums, 2013’s Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams and 2018’s America, both debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, while the latter hosted Thirty Seconds to Mars’ first No. 1 single on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “Walk on Water.” In 2023, the band released their sixth album, It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day.

    What happened?

by Kameron on 2011-05-09Kool Haus - Toronto

The band is solid and Leto has a wicked live voice. I guess because he was sick he let the crowd do most of the signing. Unfortunately I was there to hear his voice and the band kill it but they didn't. Sorry to be harsh but if you're sick you're sick. Just re schedule and we'll come back when you're voice is in better shape! Just to note, I saw them about 4 years ago at the Elmocambo for a private Edge show and they crushed it, I guess I was expecting more...

    Best concert ever!

by jasminerinoldo on 2011-05-09Métropolis - Montreal

30 Seconds to Mars put on the best show I have seen in quite a while. The crowd was amazing! The only downfall to it all is that the opening act didn't seem to quite fit the ambience of it all. House music opening for rock? I had a great time I will definetely buy tickets if they come back!

    Great

by Purepete on 2011-05-09Kool Haus - Toronto

The only reason I didn't give this show a 5 star rating was because Jared was sick and asked the crowd for help singing the chorus of some of the songs. I was really impressed by how he worked the crowd. He really likes his audience and it shows. I hope to see 30 seconds to Mars again in the future.

    Just ok

    by terem00 on 2011-05-08Kool Haus - Toronto

The band was great, the venue was not. The sound was off and wasn't able to be heard at a farther distance. When shows are all ages, it becomes a problem with underage drinking/drugs and tough attitudes which ruins it for those of us who actually want to see and enjoy the show. This has been one of my favorite bands for a long time now but the show at this venue and all ages kind of ruined what I was hoping to be a dream (seeing Jared)

This was my first MARS concert so I had no idea what to expect. I had heard that they were amazing and the energy was unforgettable at their shows. Well, all those things were true. Best night I've had in a long time. I can't wait for them to come back.

30 Seconds to Mars, Metropolis, Montreal

by Cassiuss on 2011-05-08Métropolis - Montreal

    1. The Venue - The metropolis was a fantastic venue to watch 30 seconds to mars play, a solid crowed of 600+ people. It felt intimate like you were at your local pub and having one of your favourite bands there playing some of your favourite songs. The balcony had an amazing view and even though I didn't get there early enough, the metropolis in Montreal will be a spot to go see entertainment in the future. An excellent spot. 2. Opening Act - While I'm not the greatest fan of dance music or Dj's scratching their way to get me to move my ass. The DJ (unknown to me) was very good but my only complaint would have been that his act actually exhausted the crowd by having them jumping and dancing for an hour and a half. He felt very talented and kept the fans going but I would have preferred another band to be there than a DJ. 3. 30 seconds to Mars - For some reason the band had asked that fans get dressed for a Zombie theme a few days before the concert. Jared (vocals) and Shannon (drums) Leto along with Tomo Milicevic on Lead Guitar were dressed in full zombie costume along with about various die hard fans who knew what the band was expecting. I thought the first couple songs sounded a little off at first, obviously it took the sound engineer to get vocals and volume in check, these are of course issues with playing in a small venue without a huge entourage of roadies and engineers to make you sound perfect prior to playing. When I heard Jared belt out the lyrics for I'll Attack I was sold, I was moving and rocking and didn't stop for the entire evening they played. They kept the crowd entertained and the energy between the band and the crowd were very good. As a side note, the band did have a 10 year old girl sit on the side of the stage as he crooned her favourite songs. Very impressive and a very down to earth gesture. The acoustic version of hurricane was a highlight of the night, the sound and vocals were studio worthy and I was watching and listening intently the entire song. At the end of the show the band let all fans who were dressed in Zombie attire to join them on the stage as they sung (cant remember song) which seemed to be a hit with the fans, it really energized the crowd. As a whole I would give the show a solid 3.5 stars of 5. Would definitely see again. Additionally, the amazing graffiti at the back and alley way of the metroplis is a must see, amazing art work and something that really made the end of my night even better.

    30STM was epic!

by labatte on 2011-05-08Kool Haus - Toronto

The band was amazing and so that's why my overall rating it 5 stars. Even though the lead singer was sick, he and the band really put on an unforgettable show. I didn't like the venue at all, it wasn't appropriate for that type of concert...It was chaos and not the good kind you expect at concerts. Also, people were waiting in line around 1pm even though the concert was at 7:30pm (I parked close). There was no reason to do so since I got very close and even on stage for the last song and arrived 1hr prior. ALSO next time they should do a 19+ concert, that would have made things better in my opinion. I would definitely see the band again and again and again.

    Amazing!

by Michelleee on 2011-05-08Kool Haus - Toronto

Probably the best night of my entire life. I crowd surfed, got stuck in a mosh pit, and was yanked on stage by a security guard with one of my friends. we took pictures on stage, i touched Jared Leto's butt! We tried to record our experience on camera but Jared Leto came right up to us and took the camera away and put it on the drum set beside us. How many people have a video of themselves on stage at a 30 Seconds to Mars concert with a video of Jared Leto just grabbing your camera out of your hands?! Best night ever!

    30 seconds was CRAZZZY

by sidler on 2011-05-08Kool Haus - Toronto

They were here last year in April. At that time I only knew one song, Kings and Queens. I didn't go that time because what if the rest of the songs sucked. After buying the album a short time later I haven't stopped listening. So when I found out they were here this May, I had to go. I had never been to the Kool Haus so the venue was an experience itself. The opening act was Amberlin. They were loud, they were talented. I only recognized one song- their cover of Depeche mode's Enjoy the Silence which kinda dates me. Jared made a cameo toward the end which sent everyone nuts. I almost missed him because I was watching the screen play a clip from Kung Fu panda. I have two kids. 30 Seconds played almost every song from their This Is War album which surprised me. Jared had a cold and relied on audience participation a lot. But that's cool because everyone did. Every now and then he'd say take 3 large steps forward. WE all obliged. We started off watching around 70 feet from the stage, ended up around 30 feet. He thanked us all for singing with him and invited almost everyone on stage for the Kings and Queens finale, including a 12 yr old boy and a 56 yr old Stud. From what i can tell Jared may not want to do larger venues. I hope he does in the future cause I'll want to go again when they come back.

by TriggerKissed on 2011-05-07Kool Haus - Toronto

Great place, easy to find. Anberlin opening was such a treat!! Jared Leto wouldnt sing unless there was a mosh pit, and people crowd surfing and on shoulders. LOVED THIS CONCERT!! Im seeing them again!

    Awesome fun!

by StephCharb on 2011-05-07Kool Haus - Toronto

A really fun and interactive show! Jared did an excellent job communicating with the crowd. They even pulled a group of people on stage with them! I was really excited with the extended set list and that they took requests. They played a couple songs from their first CD that I was really pleased to hear. I would definitely recommend people to see them for a entertaining evening.

    I've seen better

by cooie on 2011-05-07Kool Haus - Toronto

We love 30 seconds to Mars but we were both really dissapointed with the fact that Jared Leto hardly sang the whole concert!! He mentioned on a few occasions he was sick, but come on dude, if you cant sing at your own concert, reschedule! We didn't pay money to go and listen to all the fans at Kool Haus sing 30 seconds to Mars, which was all we heard. Very dissapointing!!
