About

Thirty Seconds to Mars began as a musical outlet for brothers Jared and Shannon Leto in 1998, and the pair have remained the core of the experimental rock group throughout its existence. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2002 and broke onto the Billboard 200; it went on to sell over 2 million copies. Thirty Seconds to Mars experienced a jump for their 2005 follow-up A Beautiful Lie, which featured their first Hot 100 single “The Kill (Bury Me)” and first No. 1 on the Alternative Airplay chart in “From Yesterday.” The band supported the album with their first headlining tour in 2006. This Is War arrived in 2009, followed by the band’s Into the Wild world tour, which set a Guinness World Record for "longest concert tour by a rock band" between 2010 and 2011. The band’s subsequent two albums, 2013’s Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams and 2018’s America, both debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, while the latter hosted Thirty Seconds to Mars’ first No. 1 single on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “Walk on Water.” In 2023, the band released their sixth album, It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day.

    Highly recommended

by Donkeysuits on 2010-09-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I went with my husband who is a huge fan and was a little unsure of the music, after going to that concert I become a huge fan. Highly entertaining and loved the interaction with the audience. recommend for all age groups if you don't have a CD already go out and buy one.

    Quite enjoyable, but also disappointing

by Kaap on 2010-09-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

30 seconds to mars is one of my favourite bands. Unfortunately, they do not translate well from CD to a live performance for me. While still a great rocking band, it does not come out the same as they don't have part of a symphony or a choir backing them up as they do on their songs on CD, so of course the songs are not as expected. I give Jared Leto credit as he really got the crowd going and into it, with clapping and jumping and inviting the crowd to get closer together and come on stage and singing along. Got a bit too much after a while though, as he'd hold the mic to the crowd and have them sing the lyrics. I didn't come to a concert to do karaoke all night; I want the group themselves to sing and wanted to hear all the group, not just him doing about 5 shortened, acoustic songs by himself. He does have lots of great energy though, and I did enjoy it, but just not at all what I expected and thought it could have been a lot better; but that's just my opinion as I'm sure others thought it was great.

    well they're always amazing

by Negin on 2010-09-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Well Queen Elizabeth theatre usually has ballets performed in it, so it's kinda weird to have a rock concert with people sitting down on their chairs! but i went down to the stage and i LOVED it. so close to the band and it's always amazing to be among like minded people.

30 Seconds To Mars Seriously Worth Seeing

by Mistressred on 2010-09-23Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

I loved seeing this band, the frontman Jared Leto works very hard to make sure everyone has a great time. The band sounds really good live, great fan interaction as the songs from the new album This Is War, calls for fans to sing along on parts of many songs. This venue separated the under 18 year olds in their own section, and the fans and well as the band did not like this arrangement. Other than that it was a great show. This touring band knows their business, and how to entertain. They tour world wide to huge audiences,so it was nice to see them in these more intimate settings. I went to the Calgary show the next night, and have to say I enjoyed it more, the crowd was very enthusiastic, and the band really feeds off of the fan's reaction. Crowd participation is part of what makes these shows special. Get all three 30 Seconds To Mars albums, have a good listen and come to a show, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing stage presence and interaction with the crowd. Leto's vocals are exceptional and the band is very tight. Don't go if you're going to sit and be lame, he'll call you out on it. -ps. total babe NOM NOM NOM

by jonnypark on 2010-09-22Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

What a great show. They kept their electricity through the whole show. There was a ton of crowd participation, partially due to Leto saving his voice a bit, but it really kept the show alive. It did seem like Leto was holding back his voice though and the reasons were evident when he would speak. It sounded like he was either sick or had pushed his voice too far in one of the other shows. The whole band played great, but I was disappointed with the fact that they didn't play one song from their first album, which I was really a fan of. Overall, the music was played great and the energy was unlike anything I have seem for a really long time.

30 Seconds To Mars know how to rock out!

by Jasper78 on 2010-09-22Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

TSTM know how to put on a good show. They not only proved that they are capable of being a good live perfromance band, but that they also know how to work a crowd. Mr. Leto has moves and an amazing voice which he proved with his acoustic set. He also goes out of his way to make sure everyone has a great experience. The venue itself was a little disappointing for a first timer. Not enough seating, over priced drinks and a mandatory coat check were more than a tad irritating. Had it been a lower caliber of a musical act headlining we probably would have walked out earlier. Glad we stuck it out and enjoyed what TSTM had to offer! If you have a chance to catch this band do it!

30 Seconds to Mars worked the audience!

by RubberDucky on 2010-09-22Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

30 Seconds to Mars was awesome. They are great performers and really new how to work the audience. Everyone was jumping around and moshing. The only down side was the Edmonton Event Center. There are two large columns that block the center of the stage (poor design). However, the band managed to work around this by having the mics set up on the stage left and stage right.

    Everybody Jump!

by Fergus88 on 2010-09-22Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

30 Seconds to Mars played an amazing show, eventhough the crowd at the Edmonton Event Centre was severely lacking enthusiasm! I don't understand why someone would pay to go see a concert like this and stand around not moving, or spend an hour recording the concert on their Iphone. The opening act, Neon Trees, did their best to get the crowd going, but was unsuccessful. They played an amazing set and had great stage presence. When 30 Seconds to Mars came on, Jared Leto actually stopped the set to tell the crowd to get their act together, move forward 3 big steps, and "jump!" He proceeded to call out people that were severely lacking enthusiasm in the crowd. They played an amazing show, were very personable, had a great presence, and played some of my favourtire songs! Jared Leto seemed very humble, and brought numerous people from the crowd on-stage for the last song, which would have made many people's night! Thank-you for an amazing show.

30 Seconds to Mars never ceases to amaze me. I've seen them about 4 or 5 times now, and each time is incredible. You can just tell that they made their new album with the purpose of playing it live; the amount of crowd interaction was awesome. Jared's acoustic set near the middle of the show was great; especially how he was asking for different songs to play. Their encore of Kings and Queens and bringing tons of fans up on stage was nothing short of spectacular. Can't wait to see them again.

    MY DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!!!!

    by Rhondie17 on 2010-04-23Sound Academy - Toronto

As a HUGE fan of 30 Seconds to Mars since their album, "A Beautiful Lie" and the first time I heard "The Kill" played on the radio, I was totally HOOKED! Finding out this was Jared Leto's band, I became totally OBSESSED by him and his band and his AMAZING vocals!!! I finally got to see them perform at the Sound Academy on April 18th, 2010 and HANDS DOWN..this was THEE BEST SHOW of my LIFE!! It was full of ENERGY from start to finish and Jared interacted with the crowd and made us all feel pretty special. When he jumped into the crowd to sing "The Kill" he was not even 2 feet in front of me and then ran right past me as I caught it all on video! I got a chance to meet the band after the show and I was in such AWE of "The Pretty One" ( as me and some of my friends call Jared) and told Jared that it was a GREAT show and he looked at me and held up his fist and told me to "pound it out, sista!" and THAT was MY DREAM COME TRUE!!! To actually MEET him and to get a "fist shake"..I was in HEAVEN! Can he be anymore HOTTER???

    30 seconds to awesome!

    by Kris4815 on 2010-04-21Sound Academy - Toronto

I was always told that 30 Seconds to Mars put on an incredible show, and I got to finally experience it first hand at their only Canadian tour date at the Sound Academy, Toronto. Hands down my favourite concert, and an unforgettable night. Yes, I was packed in tightly with other sweaty bodies like a sardine near the mosh pit, and had a few sore muscles the next morning from straining to see over the giants in front of me - but it was worth it. Jareds energy was amazing. Donning a bright pink mohawk, he involved the singing fans just as much as the album does. In between songs, he was his usual hilarious self. Almost died when he played a snippet of an acoustic version of Hurricane, and then ran through the crowd just feet away from me! Also happy Shannon got to showcase his song from the new album too. They performed all my favourites - old and new! Meeting them at the signing afterwards was pretty surreal too. Got a fist pump from Jared and then hopped into a cab squeeing like a little girl.

30 Seconds to Mars = Best Concert Ever!!!!!

    by Lila36 on 2010-04-19Sound Academy - Toronto

This was my first time attending a concert at the Sound Academy and I gotta say what a fantastic venue for such an amazing band! I love the idea of having the choice of how close or how far I want to be from the stage. Of course with Jared Leto front and centre I chose to get as close to the stage as possible! The band was truly amazing. Jared was fun and energetic the whole way through. He interacted with the crowd so much that it made you feel appreciated for showing up. After the show the band stayed to sign t-shirts, cds and posters which is a first for me. So all I can say is that I'm sad it's over and will hopefully get a chance to see these guys again soon....BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!!!! Also, Jared is super freakin hot!
