About

TOR MILLER IN CONCERT:

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Tor Miller makes laid-back, catchy-as-heck indie pop that doesn’t much concern itself with musical fads and Top 40 trends. His relaxed harmonies, straightforward arrangements, and world-wise lyrics share more with the tunes of tried-and-true pop legends like Elton John and Fleetwood Mac than the slickly produced music of his peers. It’s a timeless sound that’s easy to love, and it’s even more charming in concert. On stage Miller resembles a young Elvis Presley, both physically and in the confident, magnetic way he delivers his soulful vocals. Whether he’s sitting at the piano performing a stripped down rendition of “Midnight” or dancing around the stage as his backing band charges through the anthemic “Carter & Cash”, Miller is a natural performer who always impresses ticket buyers with his killer voice and effortless style.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Tor Miller was born and raised in Brooklyn on a steady diet of David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac. He started playing piano in his teens and formed a pop punk band during high school, and after graduation he enrolled at NYU’s Clive Davis School of Recorded Music. He began gigging around NYC at venues like The Bitter End and Slipper Room, and before long his busy performances schedule led him to drop out of school to play music full time. He signed to Glassnote Records in 2014 and in early 2015 he released the EP Headlights, an auspicious debut that led to opening slots for indie darlings like Leon Bridges and James Bay. In late 2015 Miller dropped the track “Carter & Cash”, a catchy indie pop gem that generated major excitement among fans for his full-length debut album.
