Toronto FC History

Toronto FC played their first season in 2007 and became a perennial MLS Cup playoff contender after adding Italian soccer star Sebastian Giovinco in 2015. In his first year with the team, Giovinco became the first Toronto FC player to win MLS' Golden Boot, MVP and Newcomer of the Year awards, en route to the team's first-ever playoff berth. The team reached further success the following year by reaching the MLS Cup Final, then won the championship in 2017. That victory, coupled with their winning of the Canadian Championship and Supporters' Shield matches earlier in the year, made Toronto FC the first team in Major League Soccer history to complete the rare feat known as the domestic treble.

Toronto FC have been most dominant in the annual Canadian Championship, in which the club has taken home the Voyageurs Cup eight times, including in 2020. Individual player accolades include Rookie of the Year for midfielder Maurice Edu in 2007 and Most Valuable Player for attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo in 2020.

Toronto FC at BMO Field

Toronto FC is the city's first Major League Soccer team and the first Canadian team in the league. When BMO Field, the team's home stadium, opened in 2007, it was already the largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada. The venue has since expanded to accommodate over 30,000 fans. The Eastern Conference team's most vocal and visible supporters club, the Red Patch Boys, started rallying online back in 2006 before the team had even played its first match.

Worth every penny to see the goat! West club was awesome. Better information on what gate to use would have been nice.

I never saw a live Toronto FC game live before and this game happened to land on my birthday so I had to go! It was a great venue and a great time with my friends. I can't wait to go back to see them in action.

  • Uneventful

by CAV on 2024-09-03BMO Field - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The ease in which tickets were purchased was great and the pregame startup & fireworks got us pumped up however the game itself was dare I say boring. Lack of shots and attempts on net left us yearning for some excitement. This was a first time experience for one of my friends & they were not impressed, not a great first impression. Also $7 water bottle, are you kidding me!

  • Was a great experience

Was my 1st professional soccer game and I totally enjoyed the game.

  • Not great seats

by DPhillips on 2024-07-08BMO Field - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Don't buy seats on the aisle to the end of the stadium. People moved up and down the entire game and limited the view drastically! Guess I should have realized this but didn't think it would be so bad!! Everything else was great from the parking to entry etc. But did not see much of the game!!

  • Tim Hortons 2nd Level

by Silly on 2024-05-14BMO Field - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

It was very windy and cold. Unfortunately Tim Hortons is only located in 2nd Level. On break it is crazy there. The way the line up was it was crazy, people passing by the middle of the line up to cross. This has to be made better not to interfere with people on the line up especially with walkers, and wheelchairs. Everything else was ok, too bad we are not 100% covered to be warm when games are in fall season.

Great game. Great view from the 200 seats. It was my first game, won’t be my last.
