Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and seven division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999—the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Maple Leafs have appeared in the Playoffs every year consecutively since 2017. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 74 times to date.

  • A great evening at the arena :)

by Woodsy - UK on 2025-10-28Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great experience in attending my first live NHL game to watch Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. The venue itself was superb inside in terms of available concession stands all around, and easily accessible for everyone. No major queues in any of the choices for food, beers or club related items such as jerseys etc. Sadly, and the only downside for me, was seeing one of our competitors stalls in there for the AI / Frictionless stores and not our technology. #TeamAiFi Inside the rink itself, watching the game was a blast. The sound was amazing, drumming up the support from the crowd, information screen all made for a great experience :) Go Leafs Go!

  • Good experience

by Mike on 2025-10-07Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

As I was able to get the tickets on the first day of release, I was able to choose different sections and dates for the events. The system was good for clear display of options and different dates' choices. The requirement to download the app in order to get the electronic tickets seem a bit intruding before it being load onto Google Wallet. But otherwise the experience is pretty good.

  • Amazing!

by Amanda on 2025-10-06Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great experience! Loved being able to get down on the field and hold a couple of game used bats.......Springer's was especially nice :) Seeing the World Series trophies that I watched the team win back in the 90s as a kid was almost surreal. The tour guides were great with all of their knowledge. Definitely something i would like to do again by selecting a more upgraded tour.

  • 117m row 25 seats 26+27

by Evan on 2025-10-06Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Seats were very comfortable, easy to access plus close access to Scotiabank staircase (really good when it came to leaving), close to the gold seats with a nice view for cheaper, would recommend!

  • My first NHL game

by SassyCM on 2025-10-05Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was such a cool experience. I've always wanted to see an NHL game live and even though it was a preseason game the thrill was still there.

  • Overall a good experience

by Biggguy on 2025-09-30Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The lower concourse was great lots of food options and room to walk around. Construction on the upper concourse made getting around very difficult as the walkways were very congested. Bathroom line ups were crazy long.

  • Loved it!

    by Big J on 2025-09-30Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the atmosphere and the vibe of the Scotia Center! It’s a beautiful facility with good flow and well appointed! The game was kinda slow but its the pre season, but, the whole game experience was very fun and well worth the money for the tickets, we will be back!

  • habs beat leafs!

by stephen on 2025-09-30Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

anytime the habs come to town and beat the leafs at home it's a great game! loved my seats, great sight lines, but as usual, concessions are too expensive. a drink and some food cost me almost $60. if you are going to charge me egregiously, then the workers will suffer as i won't tip. so, maybe rethink gouging everyone like you do on seats alone. ffs enough already. how greedy can you be!?

  • A great evening with my daughter

  • Maple Leaf Watch Party

by Luckydavec on 2025-05-19Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was one of the Best Experiences in the Lower bowl I ever had. Having a great view of the Video Screen to watch game 5. The energy of the Fans and Atmosphere was amazing. This should happen every playoff season, that way the MLSE Foundation gets great Charity funding and the Fans can enjoy the aspects of the game.

  • Amazing experience!

by Lyss on 2025-05-19Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This event was so much fun! I was expecting to sit and enjoy a watch party but what I was pleasantly surprised about was that they made this into a full event! Face painting, photo booths, free swag! 10/10 experience! Loved every second of it!

  • Live Viewing Party, Worst Seating!

by Sehaera on 2025-05-19Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Who doesn't want to support the Buds? So when MLSE offered a viewing party for $15pp at Scotiabank arena, we jumped on it. Seats down near the glass? Even better right? Wrong! I could barely squeeze into them and I'm not that big a person. Going to stick to red section from now on, at least I know I can sit there comfortably. At least the live game was great!

  • Most Awesomest

by Shompine on 2025-05-10Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

In all honesty great seats don’t get me wrong but to have people walk in front of me when I wanna finish watching a period major red flag 101 row 1 seat 4 but next time I know. Great game great atmosphere great crowd loved majority of it. Famous Terminator quote “I’ll be back”
