Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and seven division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999—the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Maple Leafs have appeared in the Playoffs every year consecutively since 2017. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 74 times to date.

Went to the Leafs vs. Penguins game on Feb 26, 2011 in Toronto and it was amazing. I wanted to see Crosby and Malkin play but unfortunately they were both hurt. The game was still unbelievable! We saw 11 goals, a shorthanded goal, shootout, fight and everything else. We sat at the top of the lower bowl and we thought the price was reasonable for the seats. The fans are amazing Toronto, always cheering. Prices for food and drinks were very high but it was good food.

Toronto. Saturday night. Leafs. Penguins. Even though Pittsburgh did not have some of their bigger stars, it was still the hottest ticket that night. When these two teams play, you can never predict exactly what is going to happen, but man this game was great. a see-saw game, you were on the edge o your seat the whole time. It was a great atmosphere, of course the Leafs being in the playoff hunt did not hurt. Not only was the game great, but I did not hear any taunting among the fans, as I have at past games. The ACC staff was great as always. My only problem was the price of a decent sized beer. Honestly, I could go buy a six pack for the same price. Overall, a great time, and if you live in Toronto, a Leafs game at least once a year is always recommended. Whether in the lower bowl or up in the nosebleeds, the sight lines are great, and the atmosphere is amazing.

Last minute purchase for the Leafs home game against the Islanders. Didn't really expect much but it was interesting to see a club that is re-building. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

I am a Leafs fan and my son is a Devils fan. So, when we go to a game one of us is always happy and the other not so much. This time it was my turn to be disappointed but at least the game was a close match against a team that's having a great run. Needless to say, my son was thrilled!!

when i got to Toronto there was suprisingly very minamul snow on the ground there was a tim hortons close to the hotel i stayed at i went to jack astors for some dinner before the game and during the game i bought a key chain 3 coffee mugs and a 3 X 5 foot flag which got me on T V in the 2nd period and some of my friends back at home were watching the game so they seen me on camera and then on top of that after all 5 goals and when some sections of the crowd started a GO LEAFS GO chant i was getting them fired up getting them to chant louder and when Toronto scored i got the guys in my area jumping on each other getting them more fired up then what they would be if i wasn't there it was alot better then the game i seen a couple years ago when Toronto had a 3-0 lead and coughed it up with a 5 on 5 goal and then a couple more on a 3 on 5 where the end result was Toronto losing 5-4 in overtime i can't wait for my next game!!!

It was a very enjoyable game, and the leafs one so even better, however I was surprised the seats were standing only, it was not clearly explained when I purchased the tickets, none the less they turned out to be ok and I good view of the game.

  • Leaf Game Could Have Been Better

    by Kerri1515 on 2011-02-05Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Attended the Leaf game v. Carolina on February 3. I paid $220 for 2 seats where you had to lean over to see the corner of the ice. Also, with a rather large individual seated to my left it was a very crowded seating arrangement.

  • Leafs vs Capitals

by MikeM on 2011-01-25Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Was a good game. Lots of action and a outstanding performance put on by the Washington goalie. Plus Ovi scored 3. I went to the game to see him play and he had a great game.

by KHART on 2011-01-17Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I ordered a pair of $200/seat golds and when I got there 1 of the seats had a partially obstructed view because of some AV equipment. Nuff said.

Did not know "S" stand for standing - there is such an option in ACC! But at least Flames won the game.

  • BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Timbit hockey during the 1st intermission was more exciting to watch than highly paid professional players.

  • Leafs vs St.louis awsome game

    by champ0053 on 2011-01-10Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Th leafs vs the blues was a memorable experience, i brought along my brother in law who is as big a leaf fan as I. 15 seconds in the game we scored i like was playing with my phone camera and missed it..The blues went ahead 2-1. Then we tied and went up 5-2, then the blues slowly came back and tied it. In over time it was close at one point the blues put on the pressure and i thought we were going to lose it. Then it went into the shoot out and we finally won it and the crowd went crazy around me. My 1st time at the ACC and it was amazing.

Was my son's first hockey game and the game was great! Leafs won in a shoot out so we were sitting on the edge of our seats. Can't wait to see the Leafs in action again!

Great game, to bad the Leafs lost, AGAIN!! :( So hard to get tickets. If people stopped going to the games maybe they would spend more $$$ and get quality players. I can't wait to go again though!! :)
