Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

  • Overall good experience

by MJ on 2025-03-15Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall everything was great ! family friendly environment. I just wish that the people doing the giveaways didn’t totally miss entire sections. The section we were sitting in. They barely threw 1 t shirt in our side. Then the one section got all the sneaker drops and the jerseys and t-shirts

  • Great first time experience!

  • The Good, The Bad, The Pretty RAPS VS SUNS

by The Sports Guy on 2025-02-26Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Seats were behind the basket ball net somewhat obstructive when trying to watch the play at the other end of the floor. The Raptors won the game because the suns are playing back to back games last night vs Bulls. Durant was off his game tonight. Evenly matched until the fourth quarter when Toronto broke open lead hitting all of their 3point shots to get the win. During half time Raptors staff were handing out items like wrist flappers and balloon tubes you slap together to make noise or waive them to distract the player who is at the free throw line to make him miss. HOWEVER one goof of a raptors employee does not know how to recognize the start of line in each row. There were a few seats empty and the row started with me. This employee BYPASSED ME and handed items to the guy to my right and rest of the row. Totally ignoring me like I was not even there. You pay a pretty penny for raptors tickets. You would expect free giveaways. That employee needs to be re trained in sec 102 white male with grey t-shirt. RAPS YYZ on the back of it, wearing hat. THE GOOD: Raptors won a game and everyone gets a free pizza pizza slice. THE BAD: The Jackass employee working in section 102 THE UGLY: ticket prices and the cost of food THE PRETTY: Black cargo pants. THE END

  • Fun Day

by Talia on 2025-02-04Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

My boys enjoyed this event a lot. It was very interactive and enjoyable. The only disappointing part was when they announced the players would be giving away their jerseys worn that day. A lot of the players handed their jerseys to the people in the front who I believe could afford to buy these items if they really wanted to.

  • Lots of good

by greekgrlygrl on 2025-02-03Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

From the entry to the seats was pretty flawless. We had the most genuine kind authentic lady usher at our seats. She was caring and informative. She was always checking in with us when we would leave the section, if she could help guide us. At one point my coat sleeve was on the ground and she came and tucked it in so not to get dirty. I have never had such amazing customer service anywhere like I did here. We were at the January 31st raptures game section 309A. This lady was of mature age dark hair & features. She was so very gracious. This lady needs all the accolades you got. Be proud of her. I wish I grabbed her name. We are also not from Toronto we came in for a conference and took in a game. The stadium seating area was nice, lots of food options and lots of entertainment and energy. Wish the shoe drop was in all sections not just the corners. But a very cool and generous prize.

  • Raptors vs NOP

by John pork on 2025-01-30Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sat in upper 100s section mid court, seats offered great views and easy convenient accessibility to the Scotia bank lounge area offering both beverage and food

  • Good game

by Likestar on 2025-01-24Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Good game and entertainment but be careful where you choose to sit in the lower bowl. Some sections have a cold draft all game and a sewage smell coming from the tunnels. After the game ends be prepared to leave right away as the staff will rudely shoo you out if you’re sitting where the players’ friends and family meet after the game. No notice about this on the ticket. Other sections were able to take their time and wait for the crowds to leave.
