Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

It was great and very well organized! We were so impressed!

  • Raptors sucked last night!!!

by JKUL on 2010-03-25Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

It is always hard to pay all that money for tickets, concessions and parking and then the team just plays terrible which is what happened last night. Normally I would rate the Raptor experience higher than 3 stars because it is a great event to see with a family or without but I also want the Raptors to look like they are at least in the game.

  • Would have been nice if they had tried to win!

by BballParent on 2010-03-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The game experience was okay - but the fact that this game was a blowout loss for the Raptors, in a game where they seemed not to be particularly well organized or motivated to win - made it a little less enjoyable.

  • Raptors lose still fun.

by BlueEyesRaptorFan on 2010-03-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We had amazing seats, it was so much fun to be there live again. We had a great time at this event. To be up close and see the game live was so great. Even though the Raptors got clobbered it was still great to be there. I was very disappointed at some of the fan comments during the game, very negative. I think Toronto Raptor fans should remember that we (they) need to be a positive support to their team both while they are winning and or losing. We drove 4 and 1/2 hours to see the game and would support the Raptors any place, any time. People need to know their words and actions reflect on them.

Dosen't matter what game I attend...I love the adrenialin I get at every game. If you are a true fan you will enjoy even better! I love the emotion that Bosh, Jose, Jarret Jack, and now ...Turk and Johnson bring to each game. These is a true Toronto team. Lets just hope the NBA keeps this crew together for a good long time. Love you guys!!!

  • Awfull organization

My friend and I have made it a point the last couple of years to travel from Calgary to Toronto specifically to see the Raptors play. Every time we have had an excellent in game experience and we really enjoy the product on and off the court. When we noticed the scotch tasting offer, coupled with a 3 course meal and game tickets for our favourite team, we had to jump at the opportunity. While this sounded like an excellent venture on paper, the execution of it was terrible. We received several different times and itineraries for our evening, which was very confusing. So we went to the ticket office to try and clear up the confusion, however they had not even heard of the package that we had purchased. Needless to say we were very confused and upset. We found our way to the scotch tasting, which was excellent, however it was rushed (which is no way to enjoy a scotch, especially one as fine as Johnny Walker) because we still needed to have a meal and by the time we were able to leave to the ACC restaurant it was 45 minutes till tip. By the time we even received our menu, it was 15 minutes to tip and by the time we received and finished our meals it was almost half time. Needless to say we were very upset. Neither of us are made of money, this was our big trip of the year and while the products we received were excellent their execution was terrible. There needs to be better communication between all the parties involved so that having a meal and enjoying the scotch tasting is possible. This situation could have been resolved if the table that was booked for us in the restaurant actually had a view of the court, or if the schedule of the events was actually conducive to performing both tasks before the game! After all, while we love food and scotch, we are there for the game, we want to see it and be a part of it. We are not looking for anything in return, we just want to voice our frustration and disappointment in the product we received. This event should have been a memory we'll always look back on, now it will just be remembered as a good time, that could have been so much more.

  • It was impressive!

  • Disappointment!!

    by barippo1 on 2010-03-08Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Not having ever been to a Raptors game, I took my ten year old daughter for her first time at the ACC. The Raptors played like dogs with turnovers and no concern for defense. I realize you can't win them all but a little effort would have been nice.

  • Raptors Game - Great Fun!!

Yesterday, for my son's birthday, we attended the Raptors game at the ACC. It was a lot of fun and great entertainment. We enjoyed all the hype during the game. The seats were high up but the view was great. Highly recommended!!

  • A Great Experience

    by Raptorfan21 on 2010-03-02Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was AWESOME. I had such a great time with my son and defenetely will go again. He was ecstatic to see Lebron play and see Bosh up close and personal. We had awesome seats which allowed him to even shake hands with the players. A special thank you to Carlos, the security guy taking care of our row. He was very nice. I would recommend parents to save some money and go to a game with their kids, mostly if you know your kid likes basketball. Its’ WORTH IT !!

  • Toronto Raptors vs cleveland Cavaliers

by LadyL on 2010-03-02Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The game was amazing! I liked how they made it really enjoyable for the children, like bringing them on the court. The half time show was fun, it made you not want to leave to get refreshments and such. They really got the crowd into the game. The only thing that I didnt like was they kept throwing shirts to the same people, they didnt move around and throw it to differant levels. They people throwing the shirts would go to the group right beside us and would only throw it to the people closest to them. Overall we had fun though.

  • Raptors tried to come back and win

by adventure on 2010-03-01Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Raptors played well but I did not feel that their skill level was as strong as the Cavaliers. They could have been more aggressive with trying to score in the last 30 seconds of each quarter. They seemed to spend more time dribbling than shooting into the basket. I was disappointed that some fans started to leave once the Raptors were losing in overtime and did not stay to cheer them on anyway for their efforts.

  • Boshless but terrific!!!

My son, my grandson,a friend and I trained down from Ottawa to see the Raptors. The game was great, the ACC was full and rocking. We had ourselves a fine time with good seats and we will come again. We are all Raptor fans and watch the games on television but to be in the house was special.
