Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

What an amazing game! Game goes into overtime, the crowd goes wild, lol. We had a blast! We purchased these tickets for my son for Christmas. This was our first NBA game and we would do it again! The Air Canada Centre was more than we expected! Thanks

  • Solid experience

by Puskie on 2010-02-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the game. It was my first NBA experience and it was a very nice building and so forth. Overall the only problem I had was that the Raptors were winning by 7 with two minutes left and then lost the lead and the game got sent into OT. Probably couldn't ask for anything better than an OT game but the fact that they ended up losing put a damper on the evening.

  • Great Game!

It was a great game, would give it 5 stars if the Raptors won the game....it went to overtime, and that's where they fell....but a great, exciting game nonetheless!!!

  • Fun night out for the family...

by JKUL on 2010-02-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The family all had a great time at the game and we will come back again another day. The prices for concessions and souvenirs were fairly expensive though for a modest family like ours so it ended up costing more than I expected so I wouldn't go too often even though it was enjoyable.

  • raptors great

  • Raptors Victorious!!!

by liamhalesmom on 2010-02-11Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The 76ers came back from being down by several points and it looked like they might catch up. Tied at 93 and then the Raptors snatched victory from them! The Raptors are on a roll.... Great value for the money. Kids had a great time, adults too!
