    Everyone Welcomed

by The Three Amigos on 2024-02-26WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

As soon as we entered the arena it felt that we were all welcomed into the family of curling. We definitely noticed that it was far less "contolled"than at other sporting events! It felt good. The games were exciting to watch and everyone was engaged. Thanks organizers of Scotties.

    A Spinning, Enjoyable Night

by Gingy on 2024-02-26WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Going to watch Scotties at Winsport was a great evening out. The access to the Scotties was easy and likewise parking Sitting so close to Home Ice was amazing! One could see the rocks, the determination and skill of Manitoba aand B.C players. It was a great team match! I was so impressed by NWT Curlers! They never lost their ease, focus and charmful grace! And they won! A great night out!!

    The curling was great!

by Curling fan on 2024-02-26WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

The seats were really good and easy to see most of the sheets of curling ice. When I was booking seats there was a big deal made (it was in bold on every page of the booking process) of the fact that a TV was above seats in section E and F so I picked seats on the opposite side to be able to see close ups and replays. Well the TV was impeded by the boom structure holding the tv cameras and we couldn't see the tv from any of our seats anyways! There was also a TV at the opposite end of the arena (not mentioned when booking tickets) which was also impeded by the boom. The instructions to transfer tickets to wallet apps were really helpful and the wallet app worked very well and it was fast when scanning at the venue. The venue was great but the Patch had terrible food! The lineups were long, the menus were incomplete and didn't have prices, the food was cold (even hotdogs right out of the chafing dish), buns were dry and hard, they ran out of food early in the day..... the beer was good! (although expensive).

    Scotties/2024:”Awesome Event”

by Rover on 2024-02-26WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

At the start of each days Scotties event, the MC. introductions of the players, etc. was very hard to comprehend, due to the sound system. Well organized, Great facility, good parking availability, and easy access off highway to venue. Looking forward to the next High-End Curling event!

    Loved every minute of it.

by richb on 2024-02-25WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Well run event except for the ticket buying. I don't know if there was a choice but I inadvertently bought a mobile ticket. I am not a cell person and there was no way that I could see how to get ticket printed. I spent hours trying to find out how to get a real ticket as my receipt told me that I could not enter the event with the receipt only. Tried half dozen chats, which I think are totally useless and inquired to every place I could and NOT ONE answered my question. Finally, accidentally read that you could go to any office in the event and get an entry ticket. One black mark was the school kids coming to the arena. I don't know if if was a one-one time thing, but it spoiled it for the fans watching and the curlers. It missed the mark because from what I could see, the kids were too young to understand nor were even vaguely interested in the curling and they screamed the whole time they were there. We were only there on one morning draw and I hope that you didn't put the curlers through that more than one day.

    Scotties fun

Great location & accessible pricing. NEED MORE HANDICAP PARKING SPACES. Event parking attendants needed at all times. More variety of food at concessions.

    Acoustics for announcements terrible.

by KL on 2024-02-25WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

The tournaments were fantastic. Temperature and lighting made it a very comfortable environment. Acoustics for announcements was terrible. Many people just couldn’t understand what was being said when they announced anything.

The curling was great & the facility was excellent.

by #1 Curling Fan on 2024-02-24WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

The food availability in the patch was terrible. The food that was offered was only available for a limited period of time and was very expensive. There were no other options. I have been to many patches over the years, this is the first time have experienced such a lack of food or snacks.

Scotties: worth Canadian bucket list status

by The girl with Rocks in her pocket on 2024-02-24WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Ive always loved watching curling even though I've only played the sport myself as a beginner and that was many moons ago! There is just something so special about it. Maybe it was the ice and the feel of the coolness. As a Canadian it feels just right be play sports in that atmosphere? Maybe it was the strategy and skill? Cause it is way more difficult than it looks. But maybe for me it is especially because it has the rocks - since I've always loved stones! Either way going to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts was something I always dreamed of doing one day and it was a bucket list item. So when it came to Calgary I bought a ticket to go but also hoping to see Jennifer Jones play. When I bought my ticket the schedule was not known at that time but I figured I'd go on the Monday. Avoid the weekend crowd. Not realizing it was family day! 😛. Also this was prior to Jones announcement that she would retire. And yet I was blessed I got to see both! At first I felt overwhelmed with 4 matches happening at once and trying to watch and follow key moments on different rinks at the same time. And especially because my seat was on the opposite side of the Jones Manitoba rink. But then I fell into a grove. I'd watch key moments up close in front of me (which happened to be a BC match, my home province), then watch some of the video streaming of the features match on the large screen above, then focus my eyes to move to watch the Jones team play. In honesty I could have got up and moved to the other side and stood for abit. Okay I did for part of the match. But otherwise I just cheered all the teams on. I was so excited and blessed to just be there. And also I fell into a grove, which reminded me of the skills I'd used multitasking in past jobs. It made me realize how spoon fed I am when I watch my sports with all the close ups and commentating and explaining (okay I do love that) but how rarely I use my own mind to figure things out. So I took the challenge as a positive one and I soon fell into the rhythm of watching and taking it all in and loving the atmosphere of people cheering here and there and around the stadium. When I heard them cheer, I cheered too.! And when I heard a player yelling "harder harder"or "hurry"or "CURL"I just found the action on the ice and watched with excitement and anticipation for the end result. And maybe even felt the disappointment if it didn't have a good leave. 🤔Of course not so much if it resulted in Jones favour. :) After all I came with the hope to see her team play and win. 🙌 The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd is wonderful. People are happy even with the playful team rivalry evident by the colours or team logos they proudly walk around displaying. I could ask anyone a question and they'd probably do their best to help. And there were many volunteers around to assist also. And if by chance a team had just lost and was walking past others would give them a big "sorry for your loss"and mean it! Maybe all the while knowing it might be them hearing it the next match! Over all the event is wonderful. So the only two things I would like to see improved are related to the reneue: some healthier snack options please! Why do sports events all focus on just serving junk food? 😛 Also there was limited if no internet or even phone service inside the main building. It made it frustrating for me trying to call for a cab and as alcohol is served inside as well as st the after party I'd assume phone service would be easier. I had to go outside. But the later - not having internet - did force me and help me to focus on the event and stay present. Over all the Scotties is worth the bucket list status. I had originally only planned on going to one day - early in the event - but once there I knew I had to try to come back. And lucky me! Since I am attending as a single I was able to pick up a ticket to a Saturday semi final match, which is tonight featuring Homan vs Jones! How that happened to be the match for the ticket I could get on such short notice is beyond amazing but I think my mama must have spread abit of her angel dust and opened up that seat for me.🌹Both teams are so amazing. And deserving. But tonight I'm cheering for Jones. I am so grateful for the gift to see her play one last time. I know I'll cry as I'm sure many people will do also besides the players, so I'm taking Kleenex! And I'll share! If you get the chance to see any of these amazing women play, do yourself a favour and go! Even if it's next year. Next up is the Briers but that is in Saskatchewan and its on my Bucket list now also.

    the STOH

by THRUFO on 2024-02-24WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

As per normal the quality of ladies curling does not equate to good $ value. (skips can not be in the 50's or 60's shot making bracket). The facility is excellent from a visual perspective. Some teams should not even be there (eg YU, NWT); they will never win and their entertainment value = zilch. Finally, it's time for Russ Howard to call it a day & retire from the scene.

    Amazing event. Just one comment

by Ivo25 on 2024-02-23WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

The event is amazing! We loved seeing all our favorite teams and getting to see all the new future stars if Curling. Well organization, good parking and prices were good. Absolutely love the Winsport Arena!! If I can say something that may need improvement (if possible), is that it was disappointing to see so many empty seats when tickets were supposedly sold out. I wanted to get extra tickets but was not able to do so because there were no more tickets available. Yet, at the time of the event, lots and lots of empty seats. Even next to our seats!! I think it looks bad to see so many empty seats everywhere, in addition to stopping people who want to be there from going.
