    Awesome show

    by FanOfElvis on 2016-06-29Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

    My whole party enjoyed the show immensely. The opening act, The Dirty Catfish Brass Band, was excellent and it was a joy to watch and listen to Trombone Shorty and the Orleans Band. Great entertainment.

    thrombone shorty was incredible

    by bhavD on 2014-01-20The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

    The show was amazing venue great but staff was a mixed bag from a Female bartender on a power trip to a sidekick male bouncer walking around on the floor being unnecessarily aggressive and impolite when he walked past the patrons.. Like he was bored out of his mind and wanted to pick a fight.. Why have such people working shows to ruin the moment!!! A 5 star show ruined by the antics of the indoor on floor bouncer and bartender!

    Face = melted!

    by Gauntlet401 on 2014-01-20The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

    This guy is amazing and getting better all the time. Just as with the last time I saw him/them, the jams were killer and relentless. And, in this round, there were far fewer "poppy/radio-friendly" songs that kinda killed the buzz last time. In fact, I'd say there was only one tune that didn't quite measure up to TS' powerhouse style and awesomeness.

    Trombone Shortly

    by zest9 on 2013-06-30Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    Opened with Buckjump from the For True CD. Very energized show, but at times some numbers went on too long. Great backup musicians. Did lots of stuff from the For True and Backatown CDs. I'd like to see him at a venue where you could dance.

    They Play Loud, They Play Amazing

    by wesleysleong on 2013-06-30Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    Inside that tent, it was hot, sticky, sweaty and AWESOME! Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue really know how to keep everyone on there feet. Second time seeing them and ive yet to be disappointed. For first timers...this is a sign of great entertainers, you may not be familiar with the style or songs, but they really know how to keep you excited. Remember, its not your ordinary Folky Ragtime Jazz, they play loud, and play upbeat and with alot of movement. Something to Experience!

    by GissyD on 2013-06-28Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    This is my first time at the Jazz Festival and seeing Trombone Shorty. I think he is an amazing musician. I'll certainly start following him Online and on Facebook and look for his next visit to Toronto so I could go and hear him play again.

    Atrocious sound quality

    by joefromto on 2013-06-28Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    Sound quality was atrocious. I left early because I could not stand the wall of continuous noise (sound quality). To this end the opening act was better. Ironically Trombone Shorty sounded better (more like their sound clips on the web-site) from the TD comfort Station well outside the tent and listened to by the folks that did not have to pay for the performance. Next year I may join the freebee crowd.

    Trombone Shorty is a giant of talent!

    by Loll on 2012-07-03Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    T.S. has been gracing our home for a while with plenty of play time, but we were not prepared for the jolt of energy that came in palpable waves over the audience last Wednesday. Reminescent of a young Stevie Wonder, his vocals were pure, soulful clarity and a lovely counterpoint to his sassy brass. Orleans Avenue are great enough on their own and lend an extra layer of smart, 'jump up' instrumentals, bringing the collective to a synergistic excellence. In spite of arriving in a state of near-exhaustion, I was taken away to a musical heaven and had trouble getting the 'buzz' to settle so that I could get some sleep. Worth every penny and lack of sleep that night. Yow!!

    Trombo Shorty -> Jazz?

    by DavidJazz on 2012-07-02Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

    I don't doubt the talents of Trombone Shorty but his skills as a jazz musician were not be tapped during this concert. There were moments where his musical abilities were displayed but they were like a small element of some DJ mixed funkadelic piece. He was constantly soliciting for crowd applause, which he got, but not doing much for it. He performed a very cheap trick of holding a note for 5 minutes. It was a crowed pleaser as more and more people gave him a standing ovation. I think that this defines the crowd the Toronto Jazz festival attracts. The base player had no talent. Although his base ball cap with sun glasses did look cool. This is one of two concert I attended at Nathan Philips Square. The same sound person was controlling the sound at both events. I expect the sound to be better at a concert than on CD. It was very difficult to listen to music even with ears stuffed with tissues. I have heard other concerts at this venue (Dave Holland) were the sound was managed much better. Its too bad there is a shortage of competent sound engineers. The sad thing is that it could have been a fantastic concert.

    One Of The Best This Year

    by kitchy on 2011-11-21The Opera House - Toronto

    My first time placing a review on here but it needed to be done on this incredible show. I attend anywhere from 70-100 live shows internationally yearly, this year on pace for around 80-85 and Shorty and his crew rank in the top 3 for this year - no question ! WHO DAT ? Shorty - that's who !! Come back soon boys. If not - no biggie - i'll come to you ! Respect.

    Trombone Shorty Brings NOLA to Toronto - Rockin!

    by kidrocks on 2011-11-21The Opera House - Toronto

    Trombone Shorty and his band totally rocked the house. We didn't stop dancing for two solid hours! We saw him in New Orleans in October at an outdoor jazz festival. Everyone loves him there..and I can see why! Amazing show. The opening act was great too. Wasn't too keen on the venue though. The Opera House is a bit "divey" and I wonder why it wasn't moved to a better location. Although it was great to dance, it would have been nice to sit down and have some food or drink. It gets a bit tiring standing up the whole time!

    by nola2die4 on 2011-11-20The Opera House - Toronto

    With a great sound & the spirit of NOLA Trombone Shorty rocked the Opera House Thursday night. The show was high energy that entertained young & old alike a.. common scene in New Orleans !!! The only thing that could of been better is booking these guys for 2-3 nights as I would of been to every show !! Can not wait until the next visit as Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue should not be missed.
