Great show, great band. They entertain the crowd, they sound great live, and their music is just so easy to sway to and really just soak up.
The show was fantastic. They upped the tempo on many, many of their songs so the entire concert was like an almost 2-hour dance party. If you have the chance, go. The energy the band gives off is alone worth the very reasonable ticket price. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
This band is extremely tight, lots of sweet rhythms and grooves. Definitely worth checking out their sound. You will not be disappointed!
The outdoor venue was a great setting for TV on the Radio and they put on an amazing concert. It was full of energy and they sounded terrific!
This was, by far, the best concert I have ever attended! The entire auditorium was filled with energy, from the band to the audience; there seemed a sort of connection between TV On The Radio and their listeners. Their performance was fanastic, playing a perfect blend between their new and old music. Even people who had never heard of the band before really enjoyed the concert. GO, GO, GO! I don't know how anyone could not absolutely LOVE this show!
The show Started with the Dirty Projectors who I had never heard off and sounded mediocre on myspace, but live they were great! TVOTR played songs mostly off Dear Science but played some older favorites. They were so energetic and incredibly tight. We got there early so we were in the 2nd row but once the music started everyone ran to the front, and being only feet away from the stage dancing in a crowd of people was really amazing! I would go back to see them in a heart beat! They definitely live up to their reign and best band of the year!
This was an awesome show at the best venue in Saskatchewan for live music. The crowd was into it, and TV on the Radio played amazing.
My Wife and I saw TV on the Radio at Sasquatch on the Saturday and in Calgary on the Thursday. That's right...TOTR twice in one week. Mind blowing band for sure - but two totally different concerts. At Sasquatch they jammed hard for their allotted hour - which is not a lot of time for a band with so many great songs in their arsenal. But in front of 20,000+ people it was a great energy and ultimately it was very satisfying to see them for the first time at that venue. Calgary on the other hand. I've got a love/hate relationship with mac hall. It's a great venue in that it draws many good up and coming bands, is very central and easy to get to, and has a decent bar close by...so that if you wish - you can get prepared for a steady night of rocking. The bad, on the other hand, far out weigh the good. It's a horrible setup. Drink in the arbitrary caged off area, enter the show sans drinks. Stand on the hard concrete and listen as the sounds rebounds and echos horribly off the concrete walls. Acoustically it must be one of the worst venues I've ever visited. This in turn leads to an un-energized crowd, which begets an uninterested band and so on. But I digress. TV on the Radio entered with much energy. The crowd up front formed a mosh pit for some odd reason. The band told them to just dance. The crowd stood like zombies. The band continued to rock to the motionless crowd. TOTR finished promptly and professionally and left. The crowd exited soon after. Just as it happened with every concert I've ever been to at Mac Hall. Ultimately I've got to say it was a good concert regardless of my distaste for venue. The band overcame all the shortcomings of the night. PS - check out my video for the zombie-like crowd
Songs were virtually indistinguishable from each other due to the abject poorness of the sound quality. The performance was ok, but they would benefit from better arrangement of their instruments and vocals in live performances. I have nothing against the sax, in fact I used to play it, but holy hell could it have been cut from most of the songs. The blaring competition between band members built a wall of sound, rendering it mere static TV on the radio.
This band was amazing in concert. They had a great energy and just fundamentally sensational songs to play. Some of the crowd was embarrassingly rowdy however. That's not the style of music or concert that TV on the Radio puts out so it was pretty embarrassing when Kip had to ask the crowd to settle down. But apart from the bad crowd, that was one of the best shows i've seen in a while.
TV on the Radio were excellent but the sound at the Sound Academy was muddy !
I thought TV on the radio and dirty projectors were both great- I think the venue was the problem. The sound wasn't great to start, though I wasn't far from the stage, it sounded as though I was 1km away. My friend drove us there thinking it would make things easier-it didn't. The sound academy has the worst access I've seen it's almost easier to go out of town to see a band. The tv screens were at awkward spots in the venue that made it hard to see...I felt ripped off.. It holds zero bearing on the bands at all, I would see them again, anywhere else!
Seeing TvontheRadio was a good show! the lead singer manages to channel the energy fantastically and the flow of the show was fantastic. They started off slow, picked up the pace, and then slowed it down before people went home. The venue was good and much more enjoyable because it WAS NOT an all ages event. When its 19+ it allows for the crowd to be close to the band and be able to drink! All in all great show and I will be back to see them when they return! Plus they had one of the best indie bands of the year open for them (dirty projectors)... total score!
Love TV on the radio as a band because they are something different from the norm and their music is amazing. Live their performance was stellar and I would go to see them again any time.
unbelievable. an incredible concert, one of the best i have ever seen.
Ups: -Great sound -Great energy -Sang their 'hits' as well as stuff off of their new album Downs: -Gave the crowd crap for not being as lively as the Winnipeg crowd from the night before -Lights and SFX were lackluster
Although the crowd was kinda boring, it was an awesome concert if you knew TVOTR's albums and songs really well. I had a blast dancing and singing along with their awesome live performance.
Absolutely one of the grandest of times! They all sweat it out till the very end and put on a sick show...I'd definitely go again... BRAVO!
such a great band to see live, it blew me away. even though we were sitting up on the second balcony, it felt like i was right on stage with these guys. burton cummings is a gret venue to see any band!!! would love to go see TOTR again sometime, helluva talented group they are
great great great great great great great wonderful band and show.
