South African-born New Zealand comedian Urzila Carlson has been a comedic tour de force since first setting foot on the stage in 2008. In 2019 she became the highest-selling comedian in the 33-year history of The Melbourne International Comedy Festival and made her Netflix debut as one of the acts featured in the worldwide comedy series, COMEDIANS of the world. She has become a television favorite by being a series regular on Australia and New Zealand’s versions of the award-winning comedy panel show Have You Been Paying Attention? as well as a contestant on the second season of Taskmaster NZ. She has also won no shortage of awards, taking home the People's Choice Award for most tickets sold at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Urzila is truly amazing. Great story telling - so funny! Would definitely pay to see her again if she comes back to Ottawa. (I also appreciated the venue - Algonquin College - easy to get too, easy to park, nice facilities. Door staff were really kind and friendly too!).
I could not stop laughing! Great show. I will definitely see her again.
Her show was a night of hilarious story telling.I've followed her online and was looking forward to enjoying her in person. She definitely didn't disappoint.
One of the funniest comedy shows I’ve ever seen. No opener, just an hour and a half of Urzila. My friend and I were in tears.
I almost peed my pants. Bladder control is a thing. Best storyteller I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard a lot. She’s a star. If she was even 10 years younger she would be bigger than Rebel Wilson. Gifted comedian. See her if you can.
