About

For more than 20 years, Usher has captured the music world with his sensual croon, R&B anthems, club hits, and self-proclaimed “revolutionary pop.” Usher’s 2012 album Looking 4 Myself spawned the megahits “Scream” and “Climax,” the latter sustaining an 11-week reign atop Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, his 12th number one on the chart, and earning Usher a Grammy Award for Best R&B performance. Ticket buyers praise Usher’s sheer athleticism and explosive dance numbers in concert, but also appreciate his agile voice when his falsetto elicits screams from the crowds. Usher has toured and collaborated with many artists including Trey Songz, will.i.am, and Miguel. Usher was key in Justin Bieber’s career mentoring the young popstar and was a coach on NBC’s reality singing competition The Voice during its fourth season.

Usher found success in the late 1990s with hits like “Nice & Slow” and later with his Grammy Award-winning singles, “U Remind Me” and “U Don’t Have to Call.” A critics and fan favorite, Confessions (2004) produced the massive hits “Yeah!” and “Confessions Part II.”
Usher is currently working on his next album and will appear in “Hands of Stone” as the boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard alongside Robert De Niro in 2014.

    It was just ok.

by Picolina on 2017-07-27Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

While some things sounded ok, it was too much Roots, not enough Usher. On their own, both artist are amazing, together, it just wasn't a great mix for me. The stage set up was beyond boring! And the screens they had for people who were seated in the 200 section were tiny.

    What did we just see???

by Anonymous on 2017-07-21Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Really disappointed in this show! Calling it "Usher and the Roots" made it sound to most like the Roots were opening, and Usher was the main act. It should have been billed as "The Roots, featuring a bit of Usher" - and I assure you they would not have sold tickets for as much as they did. It was 30 minutes before they played an Usher song, and the style was completely Rootsy - only one song sounded like normal Usher. No "Scream," no encore. When the show ended, people boo'ed. Terrible really, it was really disappointing for those of us who thought we were getting an Usher show.

    Waste of Money

by bowong on 2017-07-19Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

We were sitting behind the floor seats, can't hear anything. The background noise is so loud that no one could hear the vocals. We still pay $160 each for our seats, not like we were in the nosebleed zone, what a waste of money!

Usher was great warm up DJ not so much

    by LMB1 on 2017-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The concert was supposed to start at 7:30 pm. Instead there was a really awful DJ who played music for an hour. Then there was a half-hour wait for Usher. It was disappointing that Usher did not play all of his hits such as "More". My friend and I were really let down as we paid over $300 for those tickets. The other thing that sucked was no encore. He walked off the stage abruptly, the lights came on and that was it. People booed and he still did not come back out. He left a bad impression on Calgarians. I think that was the first time he ever played here but I'm not sure. Usher seemed out of shape and his dancing was not up to par.

    Underwhelming show

by Mangoluvs on 2017-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

You often hear someone say, "worth the price of admission". Not in this case. Usher & The Roots were over an hour late getting on stage. Usher himself barely performed for over an hour because there were a number of music solos (while entertaining, not what people wanted to hear). His voice was okay, but it was tough to tell because the sound was so poor. They didn't even have his microphone on for the opening song. The crowd was trying to feed off the energy of the performance, but it just wasn't there. All of Usher's songs were rearranged. While he played his hits, many didn't recognize them or even bother to care to figure out what he was singing. He also appeared disinterested and barely acknowledged those in the crowd. Most disappointing was the lack of an encore. The band and Usher left the stage, the house lights went on and that was that. Boos from the audience rained down and those in attendance deserved much better. For a ticket that was near $200, the concert was not worth it.

Worst concert I have ever been to. He didn't come on until late and then never came back on for last song

    Usher sucks with the roots

by melp on 2017-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Sound check was lacking. Usher did not sound well with The Roots. Sounded very off beat most of the time. No amount of booze would make it sound better. Only song that was good was "yeah". Almost fell asleep a few times. Just not much stage presence at all.

    Usher could of been more

    by Njw3 on 2017-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The concert was ok we thought the roots were opening for Usher, not them together the whole concert. The music was so loud you could barely hear Usher most of the time and all the songs he did sing didn't really sound like his, they sounded like a mashup remix with The Roots music. Usher did a lot of dancing and let The Roots do a lot of singing. He even ended the concert with The Roots playing the last two songs and he left the stage.

Usher & the Roots - Boring

    by bellathegr8est on 2017-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The DJ who opened the show; stay in Chitown, sucked. The Roots live band & Usher; let's just say my girlfriend and I left well before the end of the concert. And....no merchandise to purchase; cheap and definitely NOT fan based. Really bad!
