    Amazing, as always

by au8relius on 2018-04-02Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

VGL always knows how to put on a good show. I didn't know 3/4 of the songs they played, but it was still awesome to listen to and experience live. Definitely recommend.

    Still as amazing as ever!

by Cheisu on 2016-04-20Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I liked most of the new game music that was performed but I was hoping to hear Shadow of the Colossus and maybe one more well known and popular piece. I very much enjoyed seeing Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Metroid for the first time. The only thing I did not like very much was Viking Jesus as he strikes me as a little full of himself and I couldn't really hear the notes of the Pokemon theme because his guitar was turned up too loud. But still a fantastic event!

    Go!Go!Go!

by avatarius on 2015-03-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The Go! x 3 was actually for the Guitar Hero player that prove to VGL that Edmontonians are hardcore gamers and fans. It was very enjoyable and they always have different music scores each time they visit. A must for anybody who loves video games and the music they possess. Excellent show and I say GO! GO! GO!..........GO!!!!

Better than Zelda Symphony - memorable!

by Yukatakaytee on 2015-03-21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I was a bit afraid at first when they announced the orchestra playing would be Calgary's own. I went to the Zelda Symphony II last year and they had done a sloppy job (although most didn't notice). While they weren't terrible then, it made me reconsider ever going to the Calgary Orchestra venues. Now that I have been to see and hear Video Game Live (which I had previously in Montreal in 2005 or 2006), I can assure you that they did a better job and can only think of reasons such as not having enough time to practice. As for the content, it was well-chosen and well arranged. The host is a funny man that does a good job entertaining us and presenting the songs. He also plays the electric guitar! They managed to enthrall us and make us laugh. Sometimes, there would even be goosebumps! While I didn't like their version of the Final Fantasy Opera, I was happy they actually included it. The show is fantastic whether you are a console gamer, a PC gamer or none. I brought each type of customer to the event and all loved it and said they would go again. The non-gamer is now a gamer, so it was definitely a win.

    A fun show!

by Setag62 on 2015-03-12National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Well, what can I say. The show was very good, but for the price ($85.00), I was expecting more. To be specific, video quality was lacking. I noticed that, although the light show was very nice, it overpowered the screen, which made many of the videos appear quite washed-out, and hard to see. I would have preferred less flashy lights and one bigger wide-format screen, instead of three 4x3 screens. Also, although the set-list was good, a lot of the sections seems to concentrate on games which seems directed to the role-playing game crowd. No war games, such as Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms, spying games, flight sims, or racing games. I know such games, especially some flight sims and racing games (Need for speed) don't have great soundtracks but I'm sure a few could have been included. But, what was there, was good. Finally the sound was quite good, the host and conductor were excellent, and the orchestra were phenomenal, and don't even get me started on the lead singer. Oh my GOD, she has a beautiful voice!!!

    An epic experience!!

by Cowanch on 2015-03-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

This was my first time at this event and I absolutely loved it! The music was fantastic and the crowd was so into it. This is the music that I can really identify with and get emotional about. Also, I never would have suspected that I'd get to participate in the show as well, it was so much fun. I'm definitely coming back for more next year!

    Totally worth it

If you grew up playing games and still play them as an adult, you'll have a great time. Kid friendly too.

    Great show

by Telinstryata on 2015-03-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Video Games Live was great! While I didn't know all of the music being played, I enjoyed the entire evening. Hearing the orchestra play music from some of my favourite games was a blast! I will certainly go again. My only quibble would be the sound balance. Overall the whole concert could have been louder, especially Tommy's guitar.

    An experience everyone could enjoy

by Dradersma on 2015-03-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I loved VGL this year! The atmosphere of the concert is great because you don't have to just sit and listen. The visuals really set a tone for each piece but are not so necessary that the music can't be enjoyed for what it is. My girlfriend went with me and had a great time despite having no clue where any of the songs came from. All around I had an awesome time and would definitely recommend checking it out.

    Fantastic Show!

by Scoble on 2015-03-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was my first video games live, and I absolutely loved it! Amazing game selections, solid mix of orchestra, choir, and even a little bit of Opera thrown in! Even some great crowd involvement! Definitely going to see this again whenever they are in town next!!

    a great show as always

by Fizzy on 2015-03-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

They played a nice mix of old songs and new songs. The Choir as always really added a special feel to some of the pieces. Crowd interaction was top notch (SNAAAAKKKEEE) would highly recommend even for those that do not play many video games

    Same show as last time

by Nebular on 2015-03-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was my third time seeing Video Games Live! and the second time seeing them in Calgary. While my wife and I really enjoyed the first Calgary show a year or two ago, we were really disappointed in this one. Everything sounded fine but it was almost exactly the same show they had the last time they were here. The set list was almost identical with the exception of 2 or 3 new songs and done in the same order. The same jokes were told, the same videos used. There was nothing particularly remarkable this time around. I was expecting it to be fairly different as there were a number of new games released between the last time the show came to Calgary and now, a large number of older games to pull music from, and they have a large collection of scores in their catalogue to pull from. Instead, they chose to do a rehash of the show they did the last time they were here which was very disappointing.

    A fun evening!

by redhed on 2015-03-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I went to see the show with my daughter, who plays video games. She absolutely loved it! The orchestra and the choir were amazing and we loved seeing all the people dressed up in costume. I really liked the fact that there was a lot of interaction with the audience and a meet and greet after the show.

Always an amazing stage show. Music is great and the cosplay costumes are an added bonus. Will go again next time.

    Gaming at its finest.

by BootK on 2015-03-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

You don't need to like video games to enjoy the music.
