If you've never been to a Video Games Live performance before, I would strongly recommend going!! This past time was my 3rd time, and I found the line-up to be a bit repetitive from past performances (only a few songs were changed out). Nonetheless, the ESO and accompanying singers gave a stellar performance, as always.

    VGL was an amazing concert!

by Mistov on 2012-11-12National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I enjoy Video Games Live for the concert. It is creative and varied. I loved the interaction with the audience. The music reminded me of games I enjoyed playing.

    Video Games Live

by Fastmama on 2012-11-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

What a disappointment. I took my 15 year old son and his friend. They liked the video game portion of it, however there was suppose to be a pre-show at 6:00 according to the tickets that never happened, there was never an announcement telling people what was going on. When they finally opened the doors to the theatre there was one lady with a little scanner checking tickets. Not to mention the fact that the Jube is all cash only and they do provide ATM's at $1.75 service charge. So if you are not up on all the new video games it is certainly not worth $55 a ticket

    A great experience

by ShadowAaronX on 2012-11-08Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

It was my first time there and I must say it was pretty awesome, lots of great music and a fantastic evening out. I could not believe the sound quality of the orchestra! First time seeing Tommy T. in person as well, he has a very uplifting and positive personality. You can tell the passion he has put into this and how much he loves to share his passion with everyone. Absolutely loved Laura Intravia! She has an amazing voice and is a very good musician and composer! Of course she is also very easy on the eyes. Can't wait for next years show!

    For Everyone

by bandislife on 2012-11-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I have gone to several performances of Video Games Live. It still fascinates me that the most requested song is from Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, which they play every year. However, they always end up mixing in other songs as well. The new music from Skyrim, featured fan art during the Final Fantasy VIII intro. A choral feature. This year they're using "Link Flute" (from Youtube) as several acts, but all of them are worthwhile to see. She is an incredibly talented woman. Some are very serious and beautiful, some are incredibly funny, and some require audience participation. It is family-appropriate (all the bad words are bleeped). If you've never been, you're definitely missing out.

    Simply amazing

by Diegito on 2012-11-08Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Beautiful songs, great music. Video games live has all of a sudden become my favorite concert! The direction was awesome, the melodies very touching and the videos are a great addon to this concert. Only downside, Orpheum is a bit small so there was not too much space for the choir and the orchestra. With bigger choir and orchestra the music would have been even more compelling. The authors authors waited outside to sign autographs and collect impressions on the concert. I met Christopher Tin, my favourite composer ever! Thanks VGL!

    Video Games Live was FANTASTIC!

by goggi on 2012-11-08Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Went to this event with my sons & their friends. We had front row seats. I am not a gamer but I love great music. The soloist who sank, played the flute was the star of the show. Orchestra & choir were fantastic. Conductor and Tommy were amazing. Been listening to the CD ever since. Even if they didn't have the screens with the games, it would have been a pleasure to listen to. Liked the humorous clips shown between songs. Can't wait to go again.

Video Games Live is an event for the whole family!

by MeSoYeah on 2012-11-07Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

As gamers get older and introduce their children to gaming, an event like Video Games Live is the perfect night out to celebrate a love of all things from the gaming entertainment industry. While perhaps not everyone will recognize every piece played, it's easy to just sit and enjoy the wonderful orchestral pieces while images of the game it was created for flash on the large screens. I've seen VGL one other time in Vancouver back in 2005 and the production values have continued to soar. I don't want to spoil the set list but you'll hear everything from Super Mario to Donkey Kong Country to Zelda to Skyrim and Tetris and almost everything in between. But note that VGL has a very large repertoire to choose from and you may not hear everything you'd expect. A few people were upset they didn't play the Halo theme. Because each city uses their symphony as the musicians, it's a great way to take the kids to the symphony and say "Hey, these people ARE cool. They're playing your favorite video game songs!" My only complaint and I have to say I was surprisingly put off by this, is that Tommy Tallarico. the gentlemen who created VGL, plays animated segments between some of the songs. These segments are taken from CollegeHumor's Dorkly website which features hilarious cartoons based on video games. To say the audience loves them is an understatement, however, he does not mention that these are not cartoons created by VGL and I heard a few people saying how awesome they were and how great VGL was for creating them. Tommy just soaks up the laughter and quietly takes the accolades for something he had no hand in creating. He should say "If you love these cartoons, visit Dorkly" and give them a shout out. Again, he's not taking the credit for them, but by not saying anything, it's implied that these were made for the VGL show. They weren't.

Second time is just as good!

by JayM on 2012-11-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Video Games Live is a must see for all video game (and/or symphony, according to my friend) lovers! Tommy Tallarico brings an amazing energy and love of video game music to the stage, the crowd is immersed as they relive their favourite old game moments and enjoy music from new games as well. The bits of comedy that transitioned us from song to song felt like inside jokes to us gamers, and some songs (even if you had never heard them before) put goosebumps on your arms.

    not worth the money

by nothappy23 on 2012-11-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I did not think that the cost of the event was worth entertainment that was provided. We also purchased some merchandise and was charged more only than was supposed to be and was not given the right products. Our merchandise was bagged by different individual then the person we gave our money to and so we were given a DVD instead of a blu ray which we ordered. We did not realize the mistake until after we got home and opened our bag and found the wrong product.

    Video Games Live Highly Recommended!

by JMWF on 2012-11-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My first time going. Super Exciting! Will be going back next year. People don't dress up for this event. Infact they have a best video game costume contest.

    Video Games Live

by Anonymous on 2012-11-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was my second time attending and the music selection was awesome. The appeal to gamers and to any music enthusiast is amazing. Listening to the music outside the game play and performed by a live symphony makes it all the more enjoyable to listen to and more emotionally connected to the music. The composers of the music should all be nominated for Grammy's or perhaps an award program for gaming music...... that would be a great concept.

Worth seeing over and over again!

by videogamelivefan on 2012-11-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This show is amazing! It is the second time I saw and this time I brought my 2 sons. It is amazing how my 8 and 10 year old can sit through classical music played by a symphony orchestra for over 2 hours.

I enjoyed Video Games Live very much. I loved all the cosplays from the costume contest, the music, and all of the fun! The music was fantastic! The orchestra played so well and the Russian opera part of it was quite amazing. The light used throughout the concert was totally awesome as well!!!

This was my first time at video games live and I absolutely loved it!!!!!!! they were very entertaining and the orchestra was amazing. the venue was good in regards to the seating but the speakers weren't great and it reverberated thus muffling some of the beautiful music which was a shame...overall though I love love loved it and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!!!!!!^^
