  • VNV was a powerful event.

by Gryphan on 2009-07-18The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Unlike any other show I've ever seen, VNV put on an unforgettable performance. Ronan has an incredible stage presence, charisma, and an almost unnatural control over the crowd. They played a mixture of older material and songs from their just-released album, but whether I knew the song or not, I wanted to dance and scream with everyone else. Everyone in the crowd was grinning from ear to ear by the time the show ended (after a wonderful encore!). I would recommend this show to anyone, even those who would not normally listen to this type of music.

  • High energy; high impact!

by oomysticoo on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

In short, the concert was great! The whole time I felt like we were all dancing at a club, but with the actual band playing our favourite tunes. The energy was high, the crowd pumped and the band definitely on! They kept us involved and you could tell that they were having us much fun as everyone there! I would defintely recommend VNV to anyone who wants a great experience with a sub-culture band and crowd!

  • VNV Nation 2009

by Mel2030 on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

AWESOME Just a new fan and still sang along with every song!!! Most interactive band to audience concert I've been to in a long time!!!! 2nd best concert of my life time and only because the acoustics weren't that great. Got to shake their hands and stole the set list after the show, can't do that at every other concert

  • VNV Nation - an unforgettable experieince

by Glentertainment on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

VNV Nation is future pop's definitive act. They never disappoint live and last night at the Phoenix was no exception. Ronan clearly enjoyed playing to a home town audience and his excitement was contagious. The place was packed with long time fans and a mix of new converts. VNV played all the crowd favourites, though sadly they didn't play Honour. The finale encore had the crowd singing an extended version of Perpetual as it seemed neither Ronan nor the fans wanted the night to end. I have had the pleasure of seeing VNV many times and this was one of their best shows. The only issue was that bright white strobe lights that blasted the audience really were way too much and made serveral of us feel quite ill. In a word, unforgettable.

  • VNV was sick

by Awrend on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Ayria and VNV were both amazing. Im not a big fan of War Tapes myself but they put on a good show. I would definitely reccomend attending their concerts and I can't wait for them to come back again!

  • A great show always

by Kureegu on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

VNV Nation always put on a great show. Not quite as good as the last time I saw them. Ayria was really good. War tapes were less than suiting for the type of music, but they did have some talent. Just wish it wasn't on a weekday. Can't stay up like I used to. Gotta work the next morning.

  • VNV Nation was awesome!

by Nuahdu on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

VNV played a lot of the songs that gets the crowd moving, I loved that! My only complaint is that it was too short. I was at the show two years ago at the Docks, and there were more songs played and a longer encore, but they only had one opening act last time. And what was up with having a emo/rock band (War Tapes) as an opening band for VNV? I love rock, but why mix the genres? I don't expect to hear techno played at a jazz concert... it seemed very out of place and I didn't enjoy it. Just my opinion though. Maybe there was a reason behind it, but I didn't hear it.

  • VNV were Amazing!

by Beangirl on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Despite hurting himself a week prior Ronan was quite the energetic frontman, dancing about, getting the crowd hyped. Mark was amazing too, with his drumming, and his out and out energy. These two are absolutely amazing, and very focused on their fans. Unlike the second opening act (War Tapes) VNV were very accessible as entertainers, and an absolute joy to watch, listen to, dance to, and sing to.

  • VNV Nation hits the target

by HappyPanda on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The best way to describe the night was unbelievable. A room full of writing VNV fans enjoying their music and VNV Nation ensuring the they enjoyed every moment of it. War Films was an excellent opener as well, and the Phoenix is a great club with good staff.
