    Waitress was Outstanding

by Ndume2004 on 2018-03-31Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

This production was bright, colorful, and fun. While dealing with some serious topics, the tone was generally light. Excellent use of humor. The production makes you laugh and cry. The technical work with the sets was fascinating. The score was upbeat and catchy. The vocal and acting performances were superb.

    meh

by mmickey on 2018-03-16Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I came in with high expectations, but was disappointed. We were entertained for two hours, but cannot remember a single tune and would not recommend this show to a friend. The content was meant to be uplifting and inspirational, but it left me a little unsatisfied

Exceptional musical baked from the heart!

by MsG13 on 2018-03-14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I can’t say enough good things about this musical. So deeply connective and the cast puts their whole heart into it. Even though it tackles tough issues like abuse and adultery it’s a very relatable musical as you can yourself in the characters.

    Wonderful Surprise

by TIMI on 2018-02-24Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I have been in New York many times since Waitress opened and always passed on it. This time I decided to give it a try and now know why it has been running so long. So clever, fabulous music..words and lyrics written by the Star Sara Bareilles. I didn't know her before but now I see a star worthy of Broadway....Every cast member is of such high quality, making each and every personal moment a triumph and they all seem to love and enjoy each other and that really shows. Who ever you are you will be glad you chose, this show, this cast and this opportunity for a great night out. Sets...Clever, Sound, Excellent, Lighting, Excellent. The orchestra is on stage, visible and just seem to belong there....Also they make Pies and they are all so fabulous I went to Juniors after the show for a Piece of Pie...

I went to NYC just because Sara was in it, and Jason Mraz didn't hurt either. It was an excellent show. Set, acting, vocals. All of it. Sara is so talented. The cast were amazing. GO see it if you can!!

100% worth the 17 hrs I spent at LaGuardia Airport

by Euphale on 2018-01-31Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

The LGA story is too long and unimportant to write here - but Waitress was WONDERFUL. I have been a Sara Bareilles fan for years, so the opportunity to see her return to this role (I missed her the first time) and see Jason Mraz at the same time was incredible. They both gave pure and exceptional vocal performances, and their growth as actors has been excellent when compared to their earlier performances. I will always love (and possibly prefer) Jessie Mueller and Drew Gehling in these roles - but it was a truly humbling experience to hear Sara Bareilles perform the songs she wrote and see her vision brought to life with her center stage. The vocal execution was perfect and greatly exceeded the experience of listening to the recorded albums. Absolutely worth the trip (flew in from Canada to see the show) and would do it all over again without hesitation.

It would've been a perfect event if the person in front of me is not a relative of the burj khalifa, blocked my view of the actors. Had to move my head from side to side.

This play was such a delight. It was even more fun than the movie! There were so many great characters and I loved the ending (it made me cry). When we entered the theatre there were waitresses selling pies and it really got me in the mood for a show set in a pie diner.

    Second Time's a Charm!

by makemineamac on 2017-12-10Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Seeing Betsy Wolfe play the role of Jenna, as well as Jason Mraz in Dr. Pomatter's role was amazing. Loved the show, the cast were amazing and this is a show you should see. Caitlin Houlihan is also a bright star here, as is her love interest. He is a show stealer. Loved it and would go again!

Waitress is a fun play that has a little of everything in it. No bad seats in this theatre, check out the discounts via Playbill.com as some performances can be as low as $45.

    Great acting, didn't love storyline

by AlbertanMom on 2017-07-06Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

The acting and singing was great. The musicians were wonderful. I just didn't like the storyline. Spoiler Alert: the waitress is in an abusive marriage, then she finds out she is pregnant. So she immediately starts an affair with her married gynaecologist. They have sex all the time, in the doctors office. Just strange. They barely know each other, he's married, and shes pregnant! Liked the other 2 waitresses, and loved Ogie. I absolutely loved Joe, played by Dakin Matthews from Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives and other hit shows.

A wonderful moving show. Jessie Mueller = Amazing!

by makemineamac on 2016-12-09Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

I had to run hard 3 city blocks to get to this show on time on a cool Saturday night in December in New York City. Was it ever worth it. I already knew all the songs by heart but to see it all unfold on stage was incredible for me. The entire cast is amazing and they all tell a great story through their acting and song.

Silly concept and I fell a sleep

by Chassicakes on 2016-11-16Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

This was a really bad concept for a show and am baffled how it could be nominated for a Tony.
