I loved this show, Wanda Sykes was fantastic, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
I knew Wanda Sykes would be hilarious and I appreciate all the honesty that shows behind her jokes. I was very surprised at how funny the opening comic (Keith Robertson?) was. He was hilarious and I loved it when he heckled the guy (Greg) who left to go get a beer in the middle of his act. No respect for the openers!! The only thing I didn't like about the show was the number of drunk/high people who kept shouting out things to the comics. We corrected Keith when he tried to retell a part of his joke incorrectly (18 year-old girls calling his son, not 15 year olds), but the amount of "BC BUD!!!" and "I LOVE YOU WANDA" and "I'LL ROLL ONE FOR YOU WANDA!!" was just unbelievable. If I were Wanda I might not want to come back to Vancouver after all of that. She even admitted that it doesn't work when WE are high and she is not. Plus, there were a lot of older people in the crowd and I'm sure they didn't appreciate that either. Other than that I'd recommend her show any other day but maybe not at such an open, loud venue. We're really there for the comics, not to hear other people show their "love."
She started up pretty slow but it got funny as the show went on. The only down side was there were 3 guys sitting in front of us that were talking and laughing like idiots so it was hard to hear at times. Overall, it was a pretty good show. Way to go Wanda!!
I was impressed by the show. It was a good laugh from start to finish. The theatre was nice. I look forward to coming back.
I never cried sooooo much in my life! Wanda rocked the River Rock!!!
We were more than a little disappointed in the evening. Her act started slow and never did pick up the pace. She just seemed really tired and at a loss for what material to do next. Although I will say that a few loud hecklers kept interrupting her flow. Why are these people allowed to disrupt the entertainers? Why aren't they told to shut up or leave? Did they think they were funny? Well they weren't - their selfish behaviour ruined it for everyone else. All in all it was not the comedy act I was hoping to see!
Wanda Sykes seemed a bit off her game on Friday night (Sep 4) at the River Rock Casino in Richmond. Half of the show concentrated on jokes and comments about the American president. The audience got a bit tired of the jokes and started asking her to tell us about her life, her kids, other topics instead. Wanda did get going a bit towards the middle-end part of the show but repeated jokes that she used in her previous show at the River Rock. Overall, the show was a bit disappointing and didn't show the true and unique comedic talent Wanda is known for.
Wanda Sykes put on an amazing show. She is so funny and so real. She seems to connect with the audience well. I highly recommend seeing her if you get the chance.
I thought Wanda's performance was really good, as well as her opening act. I could see she was having a hard time to get going because there we so many idiots in the crowd making stupid comments. But besides that it was very funny.
The show was amazing! Wanda's humor is the cream of the crop and would watch her again.
Wanda is one of my favorite comediens, period! However, I was somewhat disappointed by the performance yesterday. It seemed it took 45 minutes to warm up and then finally she was on a roll. I was hoping to hear more comedy and less of the audience. Yes, Wanda I will still watch your show and any time you are doing specials, however, you don't need the extended potty mouth (near the beginning) to get me to laugh. It seems as though your warm-up act put you on the wrong track to start out. Thank God you got your groove back, albeit not until near the end.
Wanda was hilarious. The River rock was a great venue
Wanda seemed a bit slow to start, but once she caught the'wave' she was way to funny! As Canadians, topics like Obama and MJ don't really do it for us, however, start in about universal pain like kids waxing and her friend Estelle and she had us. I would go again! Great night!
Oh man, I almost needed an ambulance to get me out the door I was laughin' so hard. Wanda was everything I expected and more. I laughed the entire show. Everytime she opened her mouth. Her opening act Keith Richardson was incredible also. Every word was funny as hell. Will see Wanda anytime she comes to town.
What a disappointment!!! Walked out after 20 minutes of boring, lacklustre performance.Wanda couldn't handle the exuberant crowd and had zilch rapport with most of the audience. Had more fun at a Canucks game on a losing streak.
Got a great ab workout from non-stop laughter all night.!
The show was fantastic! She was outrageous & witty. Well worth the money. The only thing I didn't like was the fog machine. It was very smelly & aggrevated my asthma. I was not the only one coughing & complaining of the strong odor.
Second time watching Wanda Sykes at RiverRock. She was abosolutely amazing! Funnier than ever! Her opening act Keith Robinson was hilarious as well. Would definitely go see her again.
I thought she was funny, but i never found my self laughing out loud. she seemed to go on and on about the same thing, and it seemed to drag on a bit.The warm up comedian was hilarious, but i cant remember his name.
I am not the kind of person who laughs outloud but Wanda made sure I did for a good hour and a half. Very funny, irreverent and unapolgetic! Great show!
