About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

I have been wanting to watch Wicked for years, and finally got the chance when they came to Vancouver. I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised with how the production approached the such a timeless classic. Great performance by the performers and a beautiful set.

The lovely little Wicked Witch was my favorite. She had an incredibly strong voice. All the supporting actors/actress/dancers were most enjoyable to watch.

What a great show from start to finish! The story was great and the bits of humor injected here & there throughout the play was awesome.

The set, costumes, actors, the whole atmosphere was incredible. I love the Queen E! My husband now will have to read the books the play was about. Suffice to say I would love to see all Gregory's book made into plays!

  • Terrific show

This was my first Broadway production and I didn't know what to expect. Also, I didn't know what the story was about, except that it was told from the wicked witch's perspective. I was a little worried that I wouldn't like the treatment, since I grew up loving Wizard of Oz. I'm pleased to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the twisty, turny story. Even better, I thought the two actresses playing the witches were each fabulous in their own way. Glinda had excellent comedic timing and a beautiful voice. The wicked witch had an amazing voice and great presence during the most dramatic scenes. Well done.

  • My first "real" stage show, and what an intro!

by Soundy on 2014-06-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I'd never had a real burning desire to go to a play, but my wife really wanted to see "Wicked," so I bought her tickets for an anniversary gift. This show did not disappoint! Great acting, fantastic effects, plenty of laughs, a few Kleenex moments, and some amazing singing. Seems there have been a lot of "story behind the story" treatments done of various fairy tales and classic stories lately, in movies and on TV... some have been good, some have been terrible. "Wicked" blows them all away, from the main story of how the Wicked Witch gets to be the Wicked Witch, to little touches like the origins of the flying monkeys, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion. I love stories that do justice to this concept. I can't say this one show has turned me into a theater nut (yet), but I would definitely go see "Wicked" again.

  • Wicked is Wicked!

Loved the show! Every aspect of the show is superb! The story line is very creative. The two lead singers and orchestra are fabulous and very talented!

  • Great cast Its a must see!

This is my ninth time seeing Wicked. I must say I was very impressed with the two leads. Lauren.Harris (elphaba) hit her crucial notes in Defying gravity. Kara Lindsay (glinda) gave us a fantastic comedic performance. There will never be the perfect combination of Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith but these two leads come close. The set is magical even though it is a touring production. The costumes are whimsical and fantastic. One can see where the Hunger Games got their inspiration. The music is memorable but the small orchestra was uninspired. GO SEE WICKED!

  • Extrodinarily beautiful

by Lfrances on 2014-06-03Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing costumes, sets and special effects. Beautifully acted and music, voices etc. were outstanding. Just once I would like to see the brunette not be the sensible smart one with integrity and instead have the brunette be the "dumb" one, even if the smart one needed to be green, it would have been a very interesting turn. Long first act and really appreciate the Usher's advising "bathroom" before the start of the show. Worth every nickel and would go see it again in a heart beat.

  • Wicked provided unforgettable entertainment.

    by happyfan3 on 2014-06-03Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The cast and crew of Wicked did a spectacular job. The sets, costumes, special effects, lighting were all well thought out and top notch. The performances from all actors left the audience wanting more. Although the lead actresses got the standing "o", the entire cast was included in my mind.

  • Wicked Was Very Entertaining.

I found a few parts of the production went on a bit long and could have been shortened a bit. But the cast was amazing and the story line was wonderful. Totally enjoyed it. My only issue is with the theatre itself. The bathroom line ups were totally ridiculous. Other then that great show
