About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

  • Willie was amazing. Incredible show

by Artdawg on 2017-04-29Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Highly recommended. Willie played for 1.5 hours NON STOP. Rolling from one song to the next and played everything we wanted to hear. The guest appearance by Huey Lewis on harmonica was very cool as well. Go see Willie live if you have the chance!

I was raised listening to Willie, Waylon, and Kris. The fact that Willie is 83 and still able to perform is amazing. Impressive that he played his guitar and sang the entire 75 minutes.

  • Willie Nelson is the best.

  • Willie Nelson was Iconic!

Excellent show as usual. Willie hasn't changed and is unbelievable at 83. He puts off a great show and even threw in a few songs that he doesn't typically do in concert. He stuck around at the end to sign autographs and shake hands. The venue wasn't the greatest. I had front row seats and the stage still seemed far away and was too high. Still, a great time!

I thought this show was awesome for a 84 year old man. The arrangements of the songs were changed up a little, but we can't expect Willie to should like he did in his younger years. I was happy to get to the stage & got some great photos.

Extremly disappointed Willie acted like he did not want to be there he talked almost all his song we didn't go there to here him recite the lyrics, we went to hear him sing and play guitar like we heard before. His show was disjointed and guitar playing was erractic. It was not worth the money and we had cheap seats if you call 80.00 dollars cheap. This weekend cost me upwards of 1000. dollars when you consider rooms food transportation not counting lost 200 at casino. Thought it would be memory of a lifetime, it is but wrong type of memory. Would not recommend this show to anyone. Only played for 45 minutes. wich was a good thing.

  • Willie: makes 80 look easy, such energy!

  • Disappointed in Willie

Willie should stick to writing songs. The piano player and the harmonica player were great.

The Willie Nelson concert was awesome. Was my first time seeing Willie. I feel lucky to have seen a living legend. He can still play the guitar like no other. I know his voice is not as good as it once was, but did not bother me. I loved the show. Lewis was great too. The sound in that entertainment center is awesome. If you are away from the stage there are two big screens. To me there are no bad seats. .My Husband loved it too. It was an early Birthday Present for him. He was awe for the whole show. Thank You: Wendy O.

  • Everything and more!

by Verdon on 2016-09-13Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

Willie Nelson was everything I could have hoped for last night, and more... a completely non-pretentious, no-nonsense , couple hours of well-played and well-loved music, originals and homage to some of his favorite peers, with a band that's been with him a long time, bringing the relaxed and comfortable performance that only that kind of longevity can. They played song after song with barely a pause to catch breath. When it was done, Willie was visibly tired, but still spent many minutes reaching over the edge of the stage, shaking hands and signing whatever was passed to him. A real humble and class act. I sure hope my voice is as strong as his, when I reach that age!

  • Willie is an excellent guitar picker still!

by honeybunny on 2016-09-13Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 3 out of 5

I really enjoyed the opening singer Aaron. He was very good and was playing more old style country music. Willie can still play guitar, but he changed all the songs when he sang. Many people who have heard the songs on the radio would have had a hard time picking up which song he was singing. I know Willie is still a great instrumentalist, but sing the songs as you made them great! Lastly, I was very disappointed that Willie did not come back for an encore. I expect a little humbleness from artists to at least come out again, sing another couple songs and thank the people for joining his show. What a let down! Probably won't spend the money again to see Willie, but bring on the opening act any day!

I was invited to go to this concert with a friend. I'm not a big country music fan but Willie Nelson was entertaining. I thought this would be my last opportunity to see him live considering he is 82. I really enjoyed special guest Aaron Lewis as well.

Absolutely amazing! Glad to see his guitar, Trigger, is still being used! Loved that Willie threw out some of his red bandanas for his fans! Great concert! Worth every penny! I'm sure EVERY ONE of the 5,000 who attended LOVED this concert!
