About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

    Willie Still has It!

by Belinda50 on 2016-09-12Casino Rama Resort - Rama

Excellent performance by Willie and his gang! We really enjoyed the show. While it was not exactly as we thought it may be, his talent is a joy to watch and listen to. He seemed to concentrate more on his guitar playing this time, and while he still performed many of his well known songs, he "played with the tune" a great deal.

    Family show

by UkeWillie on 2016-09-12Casino Rama Resort - Rama

Willie walked onto the stage to a standing ovation. He started the show with Whiskey River as he does with all his shows. It was one hit after another for 90 minutes. Not much talking but a lot of making music with his family and friends. Great harmonica player. No guitar backup. Just Willie and his guitar Trigger. Sister on piano, plus bass, and percussion? Another sold out performance at Casino Rama, Orillia, Ontario

Willie Nelson's show was classy and moving!

by Anonymous on 2016-09-12Casino Rama Resort - Rama

Willie Nelson's delivery of each song left you feeling impacted by the lyrics and melody. His guitar solos were moving and his technique with the strings and strategic emphasis made it sound like several guitar players. I was mesmerized by watching his technique and his voice was hauntingly beautiful. His little sister on piano was angelic and added a classic touch. Harmonica player was a wonderful complement to the songs. The gentle percussion of a simple brush on snare and floor bass beats didn't distract or overpower. Interesting mix of steel string instruments really brought a richness to the sounds and songs. Wonderfully entertaining and soulfully satisfying evening.

    Great Concert

by OakFan on 2016-09-11The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

At the age of 83 Willie still has it. Colosseum was packed on a Thursday night with all his fans. Enjoyed On The Road Again a song I first heard doing just that while on a trip. Keep on singing Willie and your fans will keep on listening!

    courageous performance though obviously ill.

by nsjdie on 2016-09-11The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

A talented , humble performer. That is why I went to the performance. He wanted to share his love of music. Unfortunately, we ALL age eventually. It was emotionally painful to watch Willie struggle for breath due to emphysema .He did what he wanted to do. We all do what we want to do. That's a good thing. I love you Willie. Take care of yourself, my friend.I am 67 years old, and know that I don't want to give up the passtimes I truly have always enjoyed. I just won't. I know you wanted to be there for your fans. You truly care and are a caring person.

Willie Nelson and Family Huber Heights Ohio

by 2GirlsfromCanada on 2016-06-25The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

The Mavericks were great. They really got the audience going and were lots of fun to watch. Willie was of course his usual great self. Enjoyed every minute of this show. The venue was nice but I didn't like the barricade in front of the stage.

    The outlaw still rides

by jonnyrock on 2016-06-25The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

The Mavericks opened and were so entertaining with their array of instruments and unique sound. They utilized the full stadium speaker set and had everyone standing enjoying the show. Willie came out and played with his 4 band members an acoustic type set which was unforgettable. Willies wandering rythymns are unlike any other performer now or ever. I see a lot of concerts and this one is at or near the best ever.

    Country Music Fun!

by Bluesrockdog on 2015-10-23Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

This was a must see concert. How often can you catch two legends back to back? They were both incredible and played a number of their hits. They also played a few songs together and blended their incredible talents into one cohesive sound.

    Amazing!

by MiaL on 2015-01-21House of Blues - Las Vegas

The concert was brilliant. Willie sang a variety of songs and a good selection of the classics, including Whiskey River, On the Road Again, Crazy, Always on my Mind, etc. Loved it when he sang Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die. Watching him sing and play the guitar made me wish I could go to all of his concerts, or hit rewind and live that concert over and over. His sister played the piano, and his daughter sang with him for a bit. To sum up, the concert was perfect.

    I enjoyed Willie Nelson...still entertaining at 81

by scorpyo on 2014-07-22Casino Rama - Rama

Alison Kraus is great...in small doses....not for 90 mins! Her segment was way too long. I paid to see Willie Nelson. The main attraction performed less than the opening act. Willie didn`t come on before 9:45 (after a 30 mins intermission!) Willie is an awesome entertainer. When you pay top dollar in a casino you expect to get your money`s worth!

    Willie Nelson - Amazing!

    by Stormie60 on 2014-07-20Casino Rama - Rama

My best friend has been wanting to see her idol in concert for a very long time. I was able to score some tickets for her as a surprise birthday gift. Willie wasn't one of my all-time favorite singers but once I saw him on that stage he's definitely on my list of likes! We expected just a couple of songs from him but he went on non-stop for 40 minutes - unbelievable! Glad I was able to see him perform in his only Canadian stop - and as for my best friend, it's a night she'll never forget - can't stop talking about it!

    Willie was wonderful!

by jost on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - Rama

Totally enjoyed the concert. never knew that Willie Nelson could play the guitar like that. For his age he kept us entertained for a long time going right into one song from the one before. So glad we went to his concert. Allison Kraus was good but it was a little too long and the crowd was getting restless before Willie came on but he made everyone forget that

Didn't know that Willie was such a great guitarist

    by Smiley60 on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - Rama

Very good concert Allison was great. We thought that Willie would only play a few songs considering his age, but he played song after song with his great guitar playing.

    I'm a convert !!

by gruff on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - Rama

Actually went to see and hear Allison Krauss and Jerry Douglas. Willie was a bonus, but I wasn't really a fan. Willie was a real surprise, unique and interesting timing on vocals and vigorous guitar work with a hint of Django, and a touch of blues. Very enjoyable!! I have to say though that I was disappointed in a small segment of the Willie fans in the audience who couldn't suppress their impatience and anger while Allison and Union Station were playing. A rude couple next to us sat with folded arms, grumbling in a loud whisper about "where's Willie" and refusing to applaud. They eventually left before Willie came on stage!??! Nevertheless, it was a great concert, and now we are Allison and Willie fans.
