Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (then the Arizona Coyotes, who were in play from 1994 to 2024). In the 14 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made eight playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

Was a great evening, the only downside was the Hurricanes winning.
Very entertaining game, even though we lost. Brody was great in pumping the crowd up.
We had a wonderful time at the Wpg. Jets game vs Pittsburgh Penguins, lots of action, colour, and the crowd went wild cheering! So much fun and can't wait to go again! My first time seeing an NHL game, an experience everyone should have.
Although my team did not win the visit was great. Hotel close to arena. Hockey Fights Cancer tshirt purchased!
My 1st hockey game, and I think I chose the best arena to see my Pens live. The atmosphere was great, people were friendly and cheerful of their Jets, without booing the guests or the US national anthem (as it should be). The place is not huge, which makes the experience a homely one. The food, drink and merchandise areas are good enough for the Winnipeg market. I might attend another hockey game in the future, when my Pens will come back to ''Peg City''.
i took my grand nephew to his first NHL game. He really enjoyed the experience
My autistic son & I love to go to the Jets games. He said this was the best game he has been to yet. Lots of firsts, Lambert’s first NHL career goal, first afternoon game, first time seeing Crosby, first pride game & more. It is a highlight for us to be able to go to a game. We don’t get to go very often. When we do it is very special. The biggest improvement that could be made in our opinion is to have an arena at another location instead of downtown. It’s hard to find parking & the busy streets are hard to get around on. Another feature that could be added is if the Access 2 card was accepted to help pay for tickets for special needs people.
Our experience with the jets and penguins was great, my daughter got her first nhl puck. Amazing.
I’ve always dreamed of see a NHL game it took me 56 yrs to finally be able to see one I love the jets but the Chicago Blackhawks are my team. I was very overwhelmed by how much I didn’t know about being at a NHL game the lights the crowd and seeing the teams was such a rush. See my team come out on the ice brought me back to being a kid playing hockey in the drive way dreaming I could play for the Hawks brought tears to my eyes still can’t believe I got to see them. Made my 61st birthday something I’ll never forget. Also I have to mention the Winnipeg staff at the arena they were fantastic and a great help I felt like I was at home there and can’t wait to go to game there again.
The Arena wasn't full but still was nice and interesting. Still I think the price for the ticket is but too high especially in 1 and 2 row , that's why it's not full.
