Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (now the Arizona Coyotes). In the 12 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made six playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre
Located in downtown Winnipeg, Canada Life Centre is the home of the Winnipeg Jets and also the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The arena is able to host just over 15,300 hockey fans, making it the smallest permanent arena in the NHL. Canada Life Centre is also home to the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum.
The Winnipeg Jets’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at Scotiabank Saddledome, when the Jets face off against the Calgary Flames. The Jets play their final game of the regular season at home against Western Conference rivals the Vancouver Canucks. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

Most incredible game opening I've been to! Took my son to the Last Jets game and now the First Jets game. The outpouring of jubilation was amazing . I must say the I missed seeing Bobby Hull curling around the Defensive end to the left wing to get a pass and take a booming slap shot inside the blue line and score . Ha! Ha! I hope to get chosen for a chance to get another ticket or two.

Awsome night! A great game and very happy to be a apart of the first Jets game in 15 years even if it was an exhibition game. Where else but here would you sell out 15,000 seats to an exhibition game against Columbus?
I'll will never forget this game. The crowd was energized and the players put on a great game.
Great atmosphere, great game. Everyone was your friend. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It actually got emotional at times. It was also a great tribute to the three that died this summer as well as the Russian team, Locomotive. Kudos to teh Jets for a great all around performance and to mark Chipman for bringing the team back to Winnipeg.

was honestly one of the best days of my life, just being apart of a historic event like that gave me goosebumps, i had tears when Mark Chipman announced that we were going to be called the JETS, and there was more tears when the JETS entered the ice and the crowed reacted to GO JETS GO, words cant really describe it, you had to be there, im my honest opinion the WINNIPEG JETS fans are the greatest in the world!!! thank you Mark Chipman for making this all possible! GO JETS GO
The game was excellent im so glad the Jets are back. The speakers in the upper deck were not working i would say. Could not here the goals be announced or they need to crank them up. the arena was loud but still should be able to here the goals be announced and it is not that loud when they are announcing the name of the player. My other concern is regaring the waiting list and why people have not moved up on this list. I and many other fans know that there has been some shady business going on regarding who go ttickets. I sat next to a couple at the game who were 8th on the waiting list and hadnt moved up but knew of someone else who didnt have season tickets and got them. True North has done everything right to date but the waiting list hasnt been handled properly. A leeter to the editor will be in th epaper soon.
