About

The WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion corporation. Founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the organization now hosts more than 500 events per year across the globe. In 1982, McMahon’s grandson Vincent K. McMahon bought Capitol Wrestling and was fundamental to turning the WWE into a widespread and enduring sports entertainment product.

Initially, McMahon built up the WWE roster with future superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura and launched the organization’s annual marquee event, WrestleMania, in 1985. Over the years, WrestleMania has offered plenty of unforgettable moments like the Hulk Hogan-André the Giant championship match in 1987, the generation-shifting face-off between Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 1997 and The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at the event. The WWE will celebrate the 40th annual WrestleMania in 2024.

By the late ’80s and early ’90s, there was a full roster of hardcore brawlers, including Shawn Michaels, Hart, Ric Flair and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were later joined by a new crop of “Attitude Era” stars such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Mankind as the organization grew into a touring juggernaut. Another infusion of talent joined the WWE during the late aughts and early ’10s, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, CM Punk, and Becky Lynch.

The WWE continued to reinvent itself as it created the separate Raw and SmackDown brands in 2002, launched various offshoot brands including the ECW and WWE NXT and introduced a 24/7 streaming network in 2014. The companies behind the WWE and mixed-martial arts promoter Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) merged into TKO Group Holdings in 2023.

  • WWE Summer Tour in Calgary

by JohnP on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Was an awesome show although, was difficult to see for the majority of the event even though we were on the floor in the ninth row. We had ended up watching the majority of it on the display screens.Perhaps next time we will get tickets where there is stadium seating as our view was severely restricted for the price that we had paid.

  • Disgusting

by joanniem on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

As a proud Canadian, I was disgusted with the attitude of WWE regarding Canada. I do not appreciate the slaming of the Canadian Flag. I do realize that it is part of the "story line", but, along with others around me, we were disgusted and outraged. I do NOT condone this type of action towards the FLAG of MY country. Other than that, it was interesting to see how the programe works and how smoothly it goes. Kindly forward my comments to Mrs. Linda McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment. Thank you

  • Smackdown was Awesome!

    by Pinky058 on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 5 out of 5

I expected the less popular people to be there since it was Red Deer the small of the city's they went to. It was really good, i was very suprised, good people, good fights and a good t ime couldn't ask for anything more. Hope Smackdown or Raw coems to Red Deer again soon and not wait another 6 or 8 years!

  • This Raw was Unforgettable !!!!

  • The Great Kali was AWSUM

by Alphawolfhaven on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very good. A little slow at the first with the wrestlers pandering to the crowd to warm them up, but once the matchs got going, it was good. Not quite as exciting as the live TV productions but still very good value for the entertainment

  • Raw is War!

Excellent show, and lights were spectacular, awesome

  • "We want Brett"

    by cowboy55 on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

not enough pyro from some of the big names, and missed some great superstars such as HBK, HHH, etc. The chant of the night, "We want Brett" surely sums it up. You would think that McMahonon and Hart could patch up their difference and work together for one night, i mean talk about water under the bridge. But all in all was a great show with great wrestling.

  • smackdown/ecw tour

by mrstonecold on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 4 out of 5

I went and saw the smackdown/ecw summerslam house show in red deer. The last time they came to this part of canada was 6 years ago and i was so excited. dolph ziggler vs tommy dreamer, the bella twins vs melina/maria, goldust vs koslov, tyson kidd vs finlay, cryme tyme vs mike knox/some other dude, christian vs regal, khali vs punk. considering that they haven't came for like 6 years, more of the superstars on this show could have shown up, but i still wasn't dissappointed as i did get to see goldust and khali, but where were benjamin, jeff hardy, helms, morrison, kane, charlie haas.. .. yes they were having a raw live event at the same time in calgary, so jericho couldn't be there, but just a few more superstars could have shown up.. i did manage to score a few pictures of the ones that did wrestle so it wasn't a total loss and they did have smackdown/ecw and raw merchandise as my wife's little brother is a big john cena fan, so we bought him a t-shirt, that was a bonus.

  • Average Average Average

    by WWE4LIFE on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 3 out of 5

The event itself was alright, but overall a little disapointing versus previous live events I have attended. Chris Jericho would have provided some much needed star power. The lighting was terrible, particularly on the east and west sides of the arena. It was really hard to see at times, especially top rope moves, and out of ring action.

  • Go to Raw or Smackdown TV Event

by Cramie on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 3 out of 5

The show was OK, but was lacking the star power that Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio would have brought, No Pyro or Video. I would go to the TV event next time for the whole experiance. Just about the same price as the TV event, for not as much bang for the buck.

  • Cena is amazing

by Tommywa on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

My children love wrestling so much that i am very proud to have taken them. They really had wonderful time.It was us so nice to bring a calgarian into the bout. That made so-so proud. We had fun with Cena.Go Cena!We love every bit of your entertainment.I have never had interest in wrestling until yesterday.Great show guys.

  • WWE Monday Night Raw

by quiteen on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Monday Night Raw was AWESOME!! The boys LOVED it and can't wait for the next one! Definitely a great night of entertainment for the price!

  • False advertising!!!!!

by Infinity on 2009-08-11Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 1 out of 5

Unfortunately this event was awful! The line up of wrestlers that was advertised by Ticketmaster weren't event there! I bought 8 tickets to take my 9 year old son and his cousins to celebrate his birthday specifically because Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and Michell McCool were on the line-up but none of them showed!!! He was so excited to go and kept asking all night when Mysterio was coming out. He even bought the expense Rey Mysterio mask for $75 at the concession so that he could wear it during the match....except there was no match!! This show was definitely not what was advertised and was not worth the money or the 8 hour drive and hotel fee to watch it!!!! The venue was terrible and it was like watching one of those low class wrestling shows that travel to the small communities and schools. We went to the show in Winnipeg in January and it was awesome and that was why we chose to go again in Regina, big mistake!!!!

  • Wrestling was not bad!

by IAMWNDRWMN on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 3 out of 5

They announced that the main event was to be changed at the beginning and offered those who wanted a refund- kid of upset that RAW does not come to RED DEER but maybe next time- after the women came on for the second match crowd started to get a little better cause the first match was kind of a dud - too much trying to act and not enough actual wrestling which is what we came to see is it not? Some of teh wrestlers ignored the kids adn fans on teh sidelines as they walked down the walkway- come would it have killed you to make thier day adn give them a slap on the hand. Could have done more crowd interaction to pump up the volume so to speak- overall I would take the kiddies again- been before would go again but I would probably go to Edmonton or Calgary for the bigger show if I could get good seats

  • It was awsome

by Mossy on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

It was a family event thats for sure. The boys had the time of their lives. They could hardly stay in their seats. We also had a blast. We would go to this event again and again if given the chance. Thanks
