Enthralling audiences with his ability to wield so many instruments at once, Xavier's 2002 debut album, To Let, introduced a sound that was a mix of guitars, yidakis (didgeridoos), stomp box and percussion, blues harp and vocals. Something distinctly new, yet tied back through time to the spirit of our ancestors. With a sound established, Xavier's 2004 sophomore album, Solace, was testament to the power of his songwriting abilities. Solace debuted in the top 20 of the ARIA charts and was met as an instant classic; going platinum and earning Xavier two ARIA nominations, with three of its songs – Let Me Be, Shelter and Solace – voted into triple j's Hottest 100.
Only a year later, Xavier was receiving his third ARIA nomination, this time for third album Food In The Belly. Celebrated for Xavier's abilities to effortlessly weave genres together - from the reggae sway of The Mother, to the irresistible tribal jam of Manã - Food In The Belly impacted strongly in Australia and Europe, landing Xavier on the Dutch album charts for the first time. Xavier's gold-selling follow-up, White Moth, continued on this path of international success. Released in 2007 on Epitaph sister label ANTI-, White Moth reached #30 on the US Billboard charts and earned Xavier another ARIA nomination back home.
Nudging ahead of White Moth one spot to peak the ARIA charts at #5, 2008's Dark Shades Of Blue was Xavier's biggest musical departure, yet resulted in massive fan and critical acclaim. Gritty, dark and introspective, the album connected deeply with fans, and reintroduced Xavier as formidable lap steel player. 2010's Koonyum Sun - recorded as trio Xavier Rudd And Izintaba - was a return to lighter shades. Featuring a new sound courtesy of a collaboration with bassist Tio Moloantoa and percussionist Andile Nqubezelo - yet abundant in the blues'n'roots charm of his earliest work - Koonyum Sun brought Xavier Rudd full circle.
Debuting at #2 on the ARIA charts, Xavier's 2012 album Spirit Bird was the triumphant pinnacle of of his entire solo career – capturing the most beautiful aspects of his voice, his songs and his spirit. The Burton Cummings Theatre was the perfect venue for this gifted musician and band on Halloween night. Few could stay seated as the music flowed from the stage straight to one's heart. Xavier's music exudes peace, love and the desire to be not only a better person but to help make the world a better place.
One of the best concerts I have ever had the pleasure of attending.
Xavier Rudd's music is primal, quixotic and fun. His stage act is part travelling medicine show, part travelling minstrel show and part night club act. One minute he's pounding out infectious dance music and the next, multilayered message songs. The on stage atmospherics are well suited to the mood. Wrought with drifting haze and stern coloured lighting. The mix of new and old tunes and switching of instruments keeps the audience form becoming restless or demanding. His voice is sometimes subdued and sometimes soaring. He's static and then moving and then ecstatically prancing all over the stage, reaching out and touching the hands of the crowd. All in all a terrific show from a performer who knows how to work the clientele and loves every second of it. Please come again Xavier and bring your UN delegates!
I've attended 4 Xavier Rudd concerts and haven't ever been disappointed in the music or showmanship of the band he has preforming with him. The United Nations backup singers added such a new dimension .To be able to dance for 2 hours at a high level of energy was amazing. From the first note everyone is up and dancing. On the floor anyway. The balcony is a little more subdued and that's why this time I wanted floor seats. What I was disappointed in was the rude behaviour of some of the other patrons. The constant talking , having loud conversations that had no bearing on what was being sang. Have those in the lobby, or go for drinks before or after and discuss.
Once again I fell into a trance while watching/listening to Xavier Rudd. He mixed old and new and it was awesome. I really enjoyed the opening band as well Good Old War.
Would alawys recommend Xavier he is an incredible artist, his shows and music are true and inspiring. He with no doubt a 5stars to me, but the overall rating is for the show, where I would complain about the time we had to wait before the show starts. Timing of thé concert is on the ticket, we have been waiting too long for it too start. If their was some issues, we should have been informed.
It was soooooooo good ! We has a very good Time. It was berger that the First Time i saw him few years ago.
Xavier Rudd is a very talented artist...sending beautiful positive energy to every soul that was lucky enough to see him perform!!! He played for over 2 hours and joining him on stage were drummers and dancers from the first nations. Very talented performers sharing a message of caring for mother earth and all of humanity!!! Just beautiful and uplifting!!!
I very liked this show, this guy is amazing when he play. There was this incredible spirit at the metropolis, he knows how to reach peoples. I hope he's gonna come back soon to perform another show.
I have never missed one of his concert's here in Ottawa. I like the venue because it makes it more intimate. He always performed at his best, and I like and agree with his point of view on environment and aboriginal people. I enjoyed the participation of the Ojibwe and Algonquin's group in the concert. I'm also really happy to see that he is back to being a one man band.
Rudd always brings it and leaves it all on stage. A very emotional journey from highs to lows. Very good vibe from him and the audience throughout.
He was at his best! The positive energy, the fun he has to perform and play with his co hosts, his interaction with his public....all was great! Left with such a high. thanks

Good Old War opening was amazing. Love their energy! Loved that the traditional land owners were thanked for the land provided. Xavier's performance is life altering! Thanks all for an amazing show!
The energy and spirit of this concert was overwhelming. Having the presence of a First Nations drum circle and dancers added to the weight and impact of Xavier Rudd's messages and music. His spirit fills those lucky enough to be in the audience. chi miigwech

The show was amazing!! What a talented guy seriously if you are looking for someone who has real musical talent and can appreciate amazing music check him out! His talent is beyond explaination the true definition of a one one man band! The energy that surrounds the atmosphere makes for a great night and the opportuinity to meet some amazing people!!
Been to so many concerts and Xavier always puts on the best show. So much energy from him and crowd. Tons of love for this guy!
This was my first time seeing Xavier in concert. My son saw him a couple of years ago at the Key to Bala, in Bala, Ontario, and has raved about him ever since. His music is unbelievable and I am going out to buy one of his cd's asap. My only negative comment is the venue, as I recently had knee surgery and was only able to sit on a stool, I was not very comfortable. However the concert was brilliant.
