    An Excellent trans-media event!

by BernieG on 2013-11-20RIO Theatre on BROADWAY - Vancouver

Dolby was on excellent form presenting an enjoyable evening of film, music and narrative. The added bonus of an interesting interview with sound designer Walter Murch made for a great evening. Likewise the highly-creative contributions of foley artist Blake Leyh made for an unforgettable evening. Not really sure why the roadie girls are dressed up in scanty leatherware as it adds nothing to the evening, and is a bit demeaning and at odds with the otherwise intelligent and well-conceived creativity of TDs act. Overall TD does not disappoint, if you get a chance to see him do, you will not regret it.

    great Dolby retrospective

by rancouver on 2013-11-20RIO Theatre on BROADWAY - Vancouver

Very personal memoir-ish show, without being overly self-indulgent. Interesting time-travel theme - how memory warps over time, how technology is changing music & cinema, how reverting to "live cinema" (as they did with live orchestras accompanying silent movies) makes for a more personal/engaging experience. Enjoyed the film, accompanying dialog, and the live music. Great show!

I was more of an artistic event than a concert. Thomas Dolby had filmed a short story and he did the narration, background music, and sound effects followed by a Q and A. After that he played 5 songs at the end of the event. It was quite good am glad I was able to be part of it.

    Multi Media special

by Spineless on 2013-11-0299 Sudbury - Toronto

Get there on time, this is not strictly a concert. Mr Dolby will narrate a movie along w a live foley artist and play a few songs from his catalogue. Mr Dolby tells a few stories from his past, explaining the ideas behind a few of his songs. He will also introduce a local talent. We had a great time!

    Quirky and Enigmatic

by yyzalt on 2012-06-23Virgin Mobile Mod Club - Toronto

Thomas has always been an itneresting chap, and at this show he delighted fans in his quirky way, as always. From his "send a message into the future" studio out front, thigns were decidedly, gloriously Dolby. The set was tight, but at the same time allowed for meanering expressions. He covered the most recent album, but also much from his early days - including the expected hits. Most endearing was that he interspersed the show with banter and stories, all very entertainig. And, well, the man can still carry a tune. :-)

    he can still blind

by MIKS on 2012-04-16RIO Theatre on BROADWAY - Vancouver

the show was great and featured some fun musicians...even Thomas' son came out to play the drums. Thom's voice was a little tight at the start but by the time he sang "she blinded me..." everyone was on their feet. Really fun show

Thomas Dolby should come to Calgary

by msskam2 on 2012-04-12RIO Theatre on BROADWAY - Vancouver

I thought this was a great gig, I wish Thomas would have played wind power but I realize time constraints etc. Thomas should have stopped by Calgary however, his toad lickers and mash up between country and techno would have been appreciated!

    Great to hear live again.

by RemcoL on 2012-04-12RIO Theatre on BROADWAY - Vancouver

Our first concert out in Vancouver turned out to be good one. Has been ages to actually listen to Dolby, but it was great to hear it all come to life again. Additionally the line up with Lewis and Belcher worked out surprisingly well. The Rio Theatre turned out to be a great little venue. We will keep an eye out for their future shows.

Great show. Nice mixture of old and new music. Venue good, but sound could have been better at times.
