Lots of fun
by Lou on 2024-02-12Both Men Without Hats and the Spoons were fantastic! Loads of energy and I had fun dancing to the classic New Wave sound. Honeymoon Suite was very distorted and the singer lost his voice about three songs in.

Men Without Hats formed in Montreal, Canada in 1977 and developed their distinctive synth-heavy, new wave sound ahead of their 1982 debut album Rhythm of Youth. The album’s second single “The Safety Dance” topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart and peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100, remaining on the chart for 24 weeks. The band’s 1987 effort Pop Goes the World garnered similar success behind the album’s title track, which hit No. 20 on the Hot 100 and was later inducted to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame along with “The Safety Dance.” Men Without Hats reconvened after a decade-long hiatus in 2003, led by founding member Ivan Doroschuk, and have released three more albums of original material including 2012’s Love in the Age of War and 2022’s Again, Part 2.
