    PRETTY GOOD AT 83!

by Greg T. on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Always wanted to see Gordon Lightfoot. He is frail, and his voice is weaker, but Lightfoot and the band played well. My biggest beef is getting out of the Grey Eagle Event Centre. Brutal!! One way in, one way out!! Won’t return there until infrastructure to exits are in place

    Horrible

by SC on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Sadly the health of Gordon made him basically unfit for a concert. Lost his voice, was talking more than singing his songs. Felt bad for him throughout the concert.

    Iconic Canadiana

by Hicksy on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Gordon Lightfoot may not be a young man anymore but his wit, charm and storytelling together with his band made this a must see event. His singing was the best an 83 year old former world class singer-songwriter could ever achieve and it really didn’t matter. Grey Eagle casino venue was top notch as well.

    Poor

by Moose on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Although Gordon Lightfoot is a Canadian legend, is a talented writer and storyteller and has wonderful music, he is definitely much too old to perform! They even has to bring out oxygen for him at the beginning and he could barely sing some of the songs ( didn’t have enough breath ) paying 180$ for these seats certainly was not the concert we had hoped for. It was not entertaining but rather left you anxious throughout the performance wondering if he would even be able to sing the next song Very disappointing. He tried but really - he is too frail now

    It was a great show

by C. V. on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Great show, glad I went. I know it’s probably the last time he’ll be in Calgary so pretty hard to miss a legend like Gord.

    Sad performance

by Former Fan on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

First I must say I am a huge fan of Gord, his music and his legacy, sadly his inability to perform was disappointing and frankly an embarrassment to him as a performer and us as an audience. Yes I am aware he is 83 and frail but I think it’s time to step out of the spotlight and leave performing behind. Regardless, the audience did receive him well as we applauded enthusiastically. Sorry this is the honest truth.

    I loved him!

by Pen on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

He was amazing for being 84yrs old. A true Canadian legend I did hear a couple rude comments walking back to my car. I wanted to defend him, but you can’t fix stupid

    Sad and disappointing

by Lee Beech on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

When a performer has to start his concert being given oxygen chances are he shouldn’t be performing and to pay full price for a ticket is very unfair. Some people seemed to be happy just to be in the same room with Gordon Lightfoot but we found his inability to sing let alone stand most certainly not worth it.

    Wonderful

by Kk on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Gordon Lightfoot's songwriting is legendary and to experience it live was wonderful. He has a great sense of humour so quite a few chuckles throughout. The band was fabulous. He's amazing. Great venue, and great vibes.

    He kept going!

by Music Lover on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

He started off a little rough as the elevation of Calgary played havoc with his Emphysema. He caught his breath, took a bit of medication and a puff from his inhaler and he gave a 2 hour performance. I was impressed and at times moved to tears to see this man give his all doing something he loved. Wow!

    Thank You, Mr. Lightfoot

by LightfootFan52 on 2022-10-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

To start with, the seating in the main floor area was terrible !! Uncomfortable chairs, tied together !! A large woman sat right in front of me. She blocked the whole view of the stage. I could not move my chair, so I had to lean to one side to peer between her and her partner. There was a large monitor on the wall, that let me see Mr. Lightfoot, but I paid to see him perform live, on stage. Mr. Lightfoot came on stage and started his first song, but had to quit before the end. He had to sit down and they gave him oxygen. It seemed uncertain that he would be able to continue. But, continue, he did, for the next hour and a half. I had purchased his recent Solo album, so I knew that his voice would not be the same as in his younger days. It was rather sad to hear him, trying to get through each short version of his hit songs. His voice often cracked and even went silent at times. I am still glad that I attended his performance, but left feeling very sad, that age has taken away his familiar voice.

    Disappointing Concert

by Anonymous on 2022-10-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Was expecting a really good concert but turned out to be rather disappointing in the quality of Gordon's voice and the fact it was only 90 minutes long and lots of talking and not a lot of singing. I had bigger expectations.

Sad to see Mr Lightfoot not well

by Keevo on 2022-10-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Gordon lightfoot was not well, his emohasyma inhibited hin from perforning. Also seemed thwt he was some drunk.. voice was poor. Luckily the band was very good, and hearing some of his stories covered some. Dissapointing he is tiuring while obviously in poor health

    Legend

by WML on 2022-10-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

A little concerned for his health, voice a little off but he is 84. It was still fantastic and I’m sure he won’t be tiring much longer

    Wouldn't have missed it!

by Mell & Craig on 2022-10-20The Meeting House - Oakville

It was great, Gordon is not only a singer but a story teller and good humoured. So happy we were able to attend, only wish would be that we should have taken our children and grandchildren to have been apart of this great show and band.

Loved The concert. What a great story teller and gifted musc

by Sandy Katsoulis on 2022-10-18The Meeting House - Oakville

Very emotional for me when I see Gordon Lightfoot. Been a big fan of his since the early 70’s. I feel like I grew up and grew old listening to him. A wonderful musician and great story teller. He referenced the great Farley Mowat and Elvis. And the Tyson’s, Ian and Sylvia. Being a big folk music JUNKIE, nan I was in my true element. Wish I could feel this way every day of my life. It’s the true me. When I know Gordon Lightfoot is in town I Carnt resist. It’s like going to counselling and working so hard on being a better person, and I can do this just by going to a Lightfoot concert. I’m still in awe of how good I felt and feel within and inside myself. A spiritual and emotional cleansing like nothing I’ve ever felt. I couldn’t wait to write it down in my journal. I love you Gordon Lightfoot.

    Shouldn’t be on stage

by Lars on 2022-10-18The Meeting House - Oakville

Sorry love Gord, and respectfully and honestly I couldn’t even recognize his voice. Half the words were missing croaked his way through his set. He shouldn’t take money from ppl and sing like that! Then he admitted to everyone at 83 he just quit smoking 3 years ago and has emphysema! Many left before show was over we left before encore as we had had enough.

    Days Gone By

by Tiffany on 2022-10-18The Meeting House - Oakville

I was truly saddened to see Gordon Lightfoot on stage attempting to relive days gone by! From the moment his frail body walked on to the stage I felt this immense sorrow and the moment he started to sing I knew this was not to be the voice I knew so well. The years of smoking, illness, touring and age have taken its toll and it resulted in an iconic musician’s voice crackling, powerless, and even dropped words in the lyrics. Gordon L. has a large group of loyal followers who would not understand how sad this really is and they just want to be there one more time and remember times gone by! Still, he was able to render a standing ovation and rightfully so if not for his courage alone. As long as people will pay to see Gordon L. then more power to him , for me I will stick to his C.D.’s and albums and remember him in all his glory so many years ago!!
