    The audience just loves him.

by Lester Barter on 2022-10-30River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Gordon doesn’t have a strong voice anymore, but I go for the “love fest” that exists between Gordon and his adoring fans. Go with the attitude that you’re going to sit there and remember what the songs sounded like in your youth, and enjoy Gord’s frequent memories of his career. River cree is an ok venue, the lines were long but fast. Acoustics in this place could be better. At the end you see how much Gordon still enjoys his audience and they him!

Nice to have seen a Canadian legend, respect his talent

by Pada on 2022-10-30River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Couldn’t hear him most of the time. If we didn’t know the songs we would not have recognize them, at times he wasn’t singing the words. Very sad to have seen his weak state and hear his difficulty breathing. He is soon to be 84 years old and a great Canadian.

    Sad

by Me on 2022-10-30River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Sadly Gordon should have retired a few years ago. He gives it a good effort, but sadly his voice is wanting. Enjoyed the performance though as I always wanted to see him live. Being from his generation, the cat -calls and whistles from some in the audience seemed disrespectful of both Mr. Lightfoot and the other audience members who were there to enjoy his performance. The seating is remarkably bad for the calibre of hotel and casino that River Cree is. Kitchen chairs bolted together to form a row leaves no arm or bum wiggle room for comfort. We will not be attending any shows there until they properly upgrade their showroom to a standard befitting the rest of the hotel.

Great to see Lightfoot again in person!

by Lightfoot fans on 2022-10-30Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Enjoyed the concert....pretty good for an 83-year old Canadian icon. A bit worried when he needed oxygen as soon as he came on stage, but he stuck it out and was really entertaining. Seats gave us a good view, but were a bit unstable. Do not enjoy drinks and food in the concert area, but otherwise enjoyed it.

    Hang It Up

by IvanF on 2022-10-30River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Devastating. Greatest Canadian songwriter and folk icon stays on way too long after his “best before” date. He can no longer stand up; he can no longer carry a tune. It’s depressingly sad to see him still on a stage!

    Great Canadian Icon on oxygen

by ml on 2022-10-30Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Three lines into his first song and dear Mr Lightfoot had to sit down and take oxygen. I wasn’t expecting great things after that but he rallied and sang all of his hits. His voice is almost gone. He’s 83 and has emphysema. But the man loves his work, loves singing to the crowd and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. PS, His band is absolutely amazing and played every song like the recorded versions.

We felt privileged to see a true Canadian icon even in the twilight of his career. One of the greatest storytellers of all time, the admiration and appreciation from his fans is unparalleled. Thank you Gord!

    He should Retire

by C. L. on 2022-10-30Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Gordon Lightfoot is a legend. He should retire knowing that. He must enjoy performing, but I think his days in the spotlight should be over. The performance I saw, he could barely speak, never mind sing. A lot of the songs, I barely recognized based on his singing. He should have had backup singers at least. I was sad for him. He can still play a mean guitar. At 84 years old, with his previous health issues, I think he should call it quits.

    Gordon Lightfoot

There comes a time when we age, even the simple things become difficult. He must know that he cannot perform any longer due to helth issues and age. Waste of money.

    All good things...

by Glen on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I first saw Gord in concert in 1972, 50 years ago. I have been a long time fan. The concert at the Grey Eagle Casino was an embarrassment for such a renowned entertainer. Gord's health is obviously very poor, and in fairness to his many fans, its time for him to rest on his laurels. I have endless respect for the guy, but he can't keep taking peoples' money, nor should he put himself through that any more. Sadly, all good things come to an end.

Gordon was funny, charming and a true classic. The guitar was flawless and sounded great. The voice may not be perfect, but what an amazing experience!!!!

Although his voice is not as strong as in his hey day, just seeing the legend live was a thrill. Gordon is still rockin’ 👍

    Very Disappointing

by Anonymous on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Sad to see Gordon Lightfoot needing oxygen before the concert started. I was very disappointed in his voice and I don't think it was worth the money for about a 90 minute performance.

    Not great

by Dave on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

As much as i like Gordon Lightfoot, he was certainly not at his best when he almost didn't perform the first song. His voice was weak and crackly throughout the performance. He had a great sense of humor but the concert left me wishing i had seen him years ago. Our seats were on the main floor almost the last row so when Lightfoot sat to perform the show, we couldn't see him. We had to watch the big screen and the picture was not very clear. Not to mention as well, we really felt crowded in our seats ,front ,back, and sideways. Anytime anyone wanted out to get a beverage or use the restroom, i really had no room to move my legs...had to contort myself to let people get by.

    Gord Please Retire

by Bob on 2022-10-29Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I'm a huge fan of Gordon Lightfoot and his songs. I wondered if his show could be any good given his age (84 now I think). I decided to go as I figured he has a extensive touring schedule so he must be delivering to his audiences. He opened and sang about three versus before having to sit and put on an oxygen mask that was there on stage apparently is case he would need it! He explained a similar happening at his sound check and that he had worried whether he should cancel the show. He thought the higher Calgary elevation was responsible along with an emphysema condition he suffered from his previous years of smoking. Eventually he said well lets see what we can do and started playing again. I wish he would have cancelled the show! He used to have a very unique and expressive voice. No longer. His songs were all shortened. He would sing scat at times instead of the words. His guitar work and the rest of the band were very good but his missing voice and proper lyrics ruined it for me. I left after about an hour. I would have left sooner but was embarrassed to go as I was in the middle of a long row. I also felt bad about leaving because as I said previously I am a big fan of Gord's music. I wondered why he was still playing? Does he need the money? Does he just love the touring life? I think he's got dates lined up, including in the U.S., until March or so. My feeling is that he is doing a disservice to his legendary career by continuing to tour. I certainly wish I had not spent $75 to see him perform poorly and I am embarrassed for him continuing to accept money from fans for a sub par performance.
