Let’s start from the start...
First off, it was the first time at the casino for me, Great Venue! Great sound.
Wreckin’So (the warm up), as always, were great! A band from Winnipeg, playing all originals that sound like they have been on the radio for years. Great singing, great timing, great songs. We wish these guys nothing but success in the future. The lead guitarist (Ron) was invited to finish up Cheap Trick’s set!
I saw Cheap Trick’s last show at the Burt as well, and this one was far better. Granted, they told us that Rick was not feeling well at the last, but the boys were getting along great together at this one, and at least appearing to be enjoying themselves. AND, upstairs at the Burt is not a great place to hear a band...
They played a great set for me (an older fan), lots of music from Cheap Trick, In Color, Heaven Tonight, and Dream Police. I mean, they played Top of the World for goodness sake! A fantastic set list. Last time, the set list was very different, but equally great.
I do have to say, as tight as this band is, it would not be the same without Robin Zander’s vocals. And he sounds every bit as good as he did in the seventies. No one cares if he sustains the same high notes as he once did, his distinctive sound really makes the band. Thanks Robin! Tom did a great version of I Know What I Want, with a great bass solo. Dax was solid again, and Rick, what can we say? He is the guy you want talking to us, and leading us through the concert. Thank you to all the guys!
I know you guys may be getting tired of all this, but we want you to know that we really appreciate it every time you come around. As a kid who cut his rock’n’roll teeth on Heaven Tonight and In Color, I will be seeing this band every time they come around! Thanks again.
