Great to see a local band - Wreckin So- at Club Regent - doing a few opening songs for the still rockin Cheap Trick!
Cheap Trick did not disappoint. Wonderful! A great concert and venue. Club Regent Event Centre is wonderfully redesigned.
Great show. Have to give my hats off to Rick for preforming with such a cold. But I guess that's what they get paid for. I wish they could have performed longer as it seemed like a short set (less then 1 hour and 20 minutes).
Very disappointed in many ways. The band just weren't into it. I got so bored watching that I started answering texts from earlier in the day. Sound quality wasn't great. Set list was not well thought out. I saw them in the 70's and 80's and they were fantastic to watch, can't say I expected too much because I have been to dozens of concerts recently with bands from our era and none were a let down like Cheap Trick was.
First time for us seeing Cheap Trick. Great show, very polished. Rick had a cold, sounded rough, lol. Sound was not great. Too much sound. Maybe it’s just that we were in the second balcony. Next time there I will get floor seats, no matter how far back.
Their entire show was 1 hour and 15 minutes. No encore, etc. They were obviously putting in time. No enthusiasm, no energy. Their warm up band “The Wind-Ups” was their exact opposite which just emphasized how lacklustre Cheap Trick was. FYI: Winnipeg is in MB, not AB like the t-shirts said.
loved the concert, seen them. once before and brought back memories with some of the songs.
Cheap Trick seems to have lost their zest to perform. Sound was loud as if to cover some of the lazy playing. The drummer barely touched his kit which made me think it was to heavy on front end volume and not enough intensity from the players. 4 solos, Crowd chant backs from Robin Zander and obvious time wasting tactics in the musical interludes "bring it waaaaaay down" showed me a band who was less than thrilled about having to really entertain for the minimal 75 minute (no encore) set. Some of the Hits were missing and Rick Nelsons complaints about not feeling well due to a cold just showed a real lack of professionalism IMO. The big numbers were there and Zander can still hit the notes but after showing some friends a few videos everyone agreed it looked like they just don't care anymore.
Cheap Trick are one of those rare gems that defy the passage of time. Robin Zander sounds amazing, as well as his band mates. Great show.
These guys still sound amazing including lead singer Robin Zander. Also a concert at the Burton is a treat as you are so close to the band
Great concert! Good mix of old and new songs, the time just flew by so fast. Every time I have seen them, the concert was over too soon, this was no exception. They still had the energy and Robin's voice was still strong as before. The Meet and Greet was OK, just wished it wasn't so rushed. Not the band members fault, they were great.
I’m a long time Cheap Trick Fan going back to about 1978. I stuck with them thru their down period in the 80s. In Canada, Cheap Trick stopped charting around 1980, other than the comeback(Lap of Luxury). My point is that they played a lot of really obscure songs from albums that came out in the last 10 years, plus a few songs that only charted in the US. Performance was great, but choice material was not. Robin Zander’s voice was amazing, though.
Cheap Trick are still a great band, but this was not the best performance that I have seen. Rick announced that he had a cold, so maybe that affected his energy level. Robin appeared bored and did not engage with the crowd very much. As a ticket holder, Ticketmaster sent an e-mail that said the show started promptly at 8:00 pm with no warm up act. Surprise, surprise, when my wife and I got to the theatre at 7:45 pm, we saw the drumkit of the local group, The Windups. This warm up act played for about 30 min. We then continued to wait for Cheap Trick who came on at 9:00 pm and only played for an hour and 20 minutes - which was disappointing. We were happy to hear songs from the back catalog, but as mentioned earlier, the band lacked energy.
I can honestly say that if they were playing two nights in a row I would attend the second night
I was expecting to be blown away by the energy. I was expecting to know most of the songs. I was not expecting to be disappointed. I thought there were too many ballads and "B" songs which is unnecessary for a band that's been around for 40 years.
They play like there twenty. Guitar work and many changes very cool
They Rocked it. All the oldies were killer. The new stuff was still Cheap Trick.
The line up may have changed(different drummer) but the fun and entertaining quality are still there. Great venue to see a concert. Rick had a different guitar for most every song. Strong voice on Robln. They still enjoy the music and had smiles through out the show.
Came to hear the old Hits we remembered as fans back in the day but they didn't play enough of them.
