Cat Power is a positive and beautiful Power!

by Nettie76 on 2018-10-12The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

What a mind blowing beautiful event. Her voice echoing through the Danforth Music Hall, sounded divine. She was graceful and gorgeous. I will carry the memory for my whole life and enjoy thinking back to it well into my years.

    Highlight of my concert-going years

by YogiBecca on 2018-10-12The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This show was incredible, pure magic. The lighting, the band and the sound of Chan’s voice made this into a musical experience that truly moved me. If you get a chance to see Cat Power, do not miss out!

    Beautiful Sound, Mediocre Stage Presence

by Sherlyn on 2018-10-12The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Cat Power sang on key, and wonderfully well. The musical accompaniment was perfect for the venue. Little to no interaction of Cat Power with the audience. Definitely not an entertaining performer on stage. We could not see her as the lighting was practically behind her, and so only her silhouette was visible. We were surprised that she did not come out to do an encore performance. Overall, it was enjoyable.

I think the lowest point was when she began reading her lyrics off I a piece of paper. While singing one of we biggest songs! She hardly performed her hits. Either the acoustics or every band that played were off - catpowers voiced as hardly audible the whole time. And no customary encore! Overall, this was a very poor concert especially considering it was on the higher end if indie concerts

    Raw

I fell in love with Cat Power all over again when I saw the show. OK, it started off a little shakey, but concerts can be nerve wracking. Her voice was amazing. Yes, her dance moves were slightly bizarre, but I still think it worked. I left the show very pleased and I would see her again, knowing full well it could be a different experience all together. It's worth it, every single time.

    Best of 2012. Phenomenal!

    by mojave3 on 2012-10-22Kool Haus - Toronto

This is definitely one of the best shows I've seen on 2012. I've been a fan of Chan for about 6 years now and this was the 2nd time seeing her in concert. It was simply one of the most incredible shows I've ever been to. I just love the new material on Sun and the interspersed songs like "The Greatest" and "Angelitos Negros" were just incredible. A wonderful backing band and stage set enhanced the superb show. Chan Marshall is definitely one of the more interesting popular music icons out there and I completely respect her style. There were times I was rocking out with her and the band and other times I felt my heart ripped out there was so much emotion in the songs. Actually come to think of it I'll go in an put in as one of the best shows I've ever seen. I feel so lucky and blessed to have been a part of this. I would see Cat Power again in a second.

    Chan Marshall show in Montreal

by Ferlies on 2012-10-22Métropolis - Montreal

It wasn't the "Train wreck" that I was scare of. Overall I was quite surprise by her performance. She is an artist with great talent and I hope she will go thru her turmoil and be a stronger woman in the near future. The band was transparent and the show was on Chan.

I have been a fan for years and consider her my favourite artist, her music is amazing. She rarely comes around to Toronto so naturally I was very enthusiastic to see her, I ordered the ticket without a doubt in my mind. There were obviously some technical difficulties with the microphone and this really seemed to frustrate her and she had a hard time getting past it. She had difficulty with lyrics, I don't know if she had been drinking or something. She seemed to be confusing the speed of everything and as a result the other band members had to pick up the pace a bit. I guess all in all I felt like a kid who had just found out Santa Claus wasn't real. Her music was and continues to be something I turn to and love, but her performance was a let down.

    Too little, Waaayy too late!

by Frenchkonnexion on 2012-10-22Kool Haus - Toronto

I knew that getting tickets to see Cat Power in concert was risky. I knew that I had to keep my expectations low as far as performance is concerned, and to focus on the amazing music from this very talented woman. And yet, I was disappointed! Cat Power showed up onstage at 11:20pm, after 2 somewhat uneven opening acts. At that point, after waiting for this long, I really was hoping to be rewarded for my patience. Her band was tight and wonderful. However, the show never really took off. Cat Power was all-over the place, trying to light up some inscent or reading a letter from a fan in the first row instead of focusing on her singing. Things started to get better for a string of 3 songs when she played "Bully", but things started to go down again and at 12:35am, I decided that I had seen enough. Maybe I should have been a little more patient and stayed for the other half of the concert. Maybe she finished with a "bang". The truth is, it was late, I was tired, and Cat Power didn't do anything to wake me up. This was the very first time that I left a concert before the end. From now on, I will enjoy Chan Marshall's music on disc only...

    Cat rambled

by Bootstraps on 2012-10-22Kool Haus - Toronto

Nothing crisp or clear about Cat Power's rambling, shambling performance at Kool Haus. Waste of time. Would've been more fun to stay home and listen to her music there.
