Everything was great about the show except the lights were dim onstage continuously. This greatly took away from the show
I’ve loved this women ever since I got my period pretty much. So I’m a little biased, she goes so far beyond blue eyed soul for me. You can hear the depths of her heart when she sings, Chan (pronounced “Shawn”) is hands down one of the best performers in my eyes, and seeing her made my life.
The sound mix was terrible both for the support act and for the main headliner. I been to the Danforth Music Hall before for many bands and I know it can be crystal clear. Given that both of the performers on this line-up were really dependent on their song lyrics - it was such a waste of their time ( and my money). It was just a mush of noise and we left early.
Show was amazing…Catpower never disappoints…how can you with a voice like that!! Also…opening act…Arjun was very good as well I always love going to the Danforth…it’s a favourite venue for sure😉
Cat Power’s voice is always amazing! Great venue but why was she in darkness for the entire performance?
This venue has got to be one of the worst for sound in the city. Cat Power performed in the dark. Apparently, this was a request of the band, but a shame we couldn't see her.
Well it sounded like Cat Power, but it was hard to tell if it was actually her because she was backlit and was entirely in silhouette. Except for the times when she went to the sides of the stage and she was in total darkness. Opening act Arsun was great.
Saw Cat Power for the first time ever at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver recently. It was a fantastic show. Her songs are beautiful and her voice amazing. I especially loved the stage-lighting, she was back lit to giver her appearance that of a silhouette. I thought quite clever. Her band was solid as well.
Maybe it was an off night, but I recommend that you give this show a miss and instead spend your money on a good bottle of wine and some of her old studio albums.
