    Grease was the one

by Mandybear on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Sandy & Danny were no match for John Travolta & Olivia Newton John but in all fairness they didn't have the right acoustics nor are THEY John Travolta & Olivia Newton John. Rizzo was a class act and the backups were marvelous. A night of sheer and wonderful entertainment!

    Grease was entertaining

by Anonymous on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Sets where a bit cheesy, but worked all the same, felt that female lead ( Sandy ) voice not strong enough compared to other female voices in show, Music and songs performed well as entire cast.

    Grease was Poor

by TB11 on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

There was an enhanced anticipation prior to the start of the show and then spending 10-15 with Eddie Mekka prior to the show "warming us up" added even more positive anticipation. Unfortunately, other than a terrific Greased Lightening number the rest of the evening looked and, largely, felt like a high school or college play. By far, the actor/singer playing Sandy was the weakest of the main cast. Her voice was often drowned out by the music and her stage presence was non-existent. A top notch Sandy may have saved the show, although, we will never know. As good as Mr. Mekka was in the pre-show warmup, he also failed to deliver the same "pizzaz" in the show. His voice was very average and his acting in the role of Vince Fontaine was also sub-par. Lastly, the sound appeared to be louder than usual and the smoking on the stage reached us, in the floor audience, in a second-hand form and, this is almost unthinkable today in our non-smoking environment. It is always a good evening to go to the "Jub", albeit this event falling a little short of expectations.

    Very disappointing and overpriced

by 4kidmama on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The voices were sub-standard, Vince Fontaine was too played by too old of a man (even though he was on L&S, it was almost creepy), the dancing was average. Overall I was irritated to have spent $94 for that ticket, as were both of my friends.

    Grease - short but sweet!!

by FoxyRoxy on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I thought overall that Grease was very entertaining. I was disappointed at the length of the performance. I thought it should have been at least 30 minutes longer. It is the shortest live production I have ever attended and with the number of great songs from that era I'm sure a few more great songs could have been worked into the perfomance.

    Grease was great!!!

by Southgate on 2010-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

It was a great show, although it started late and the man that was "warming" up the crowd was not very impressive. It was colorful and much like the movie. Some of the singing sounded off, out of tune.

    Grease IS the word!

by Westcoastgirlab on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This Show was so fantastic! The casting was great and the singing was amazing. The only way it could have been better is if they asked for Audience participation during the performance!! A must see.

Good, but lead Sandy was weak.

by ShortinCalgary on 2010-11-12Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The music, characters, and casting was great. It was very entertaining and hard to stay in my seat with such good music. The single critical comment would be that I found the lead "Sandy" very weak compared to the rest of the cast. Her presence was more timid than expected for a "live" theatre performance, and her voice was challenged to be heard above her peers and the music. The "You're the one that I want" scene was so very disappointing as a result as her character could just not come up to the level of her partner.

    Grease - Just OK

by Newtnest on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Overall I found the performace OK, but it seemed like the sound was not quite right - either the music was too loud and you couldn't really hear the singers or they sounded a little "shrieky". This is not something I would expect paying the same amount for a ticket as show with excpetional sound like "Phantom of the Opera" or any other in that price range. The dancing, choreography and sets were great, but I really went to hear the music and it was a little disappointing. Also, the actress that played Sandy had a nice voice and was a great dancer but she didn't quite seem to fit the character. I would only go again if the tickets were about half the price that I paid.

    Grease

by Anonymous on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

the band was very loud so at times you could not hear the singing which was okay as many of the singers were way off tune and could not hit the notes. Sandi had a nasal voice which was hard to listen to anyway. Rizzo did a good job, the band played the music excellently

The cast were very talented singers, the only one who i think didn't support her part as far as the voice goes was the girl playing Sandy. The other cast members, Rizo especially was fantastic. Very enjoyable

    Grease was entertaining

by Sportnut on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The show was extremely well done. Obviously it is impossible to replicate a movie on the stage; the production was entertaining, and other than a couple of scenes, followed the plot of the original movie. The songs were well sung and the actors did a great job portraying their characters.

Overall the show was great! I would definately recommend it. The only part that I was dissappointed in was the girl who played Sandy, her voice was not very strong, she was a quiet singer. Costumes and set were great.

"GREASE" is the way to spend an evening.

by Charkat on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I have seen quite a few of the "Broadway Across Canada" productions that have come to Edmonton over the past couple of years and have enjoyed them all.......but by far "GREASE" was the best. Even my kids said the same thing and they have seen the same shows. Any one who grew up in that much simpliar a time will enjoy reliving it once again through this wonderful cast of young singers and dancers, who put their heart and souls into every number they perform for 2 hours. I would go see this show again anytime.

    Grease was a bit disappointing

by BroadwaysMom on 2010-11-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I attended this event with my daughter and a friend. My daughter and I particularly enjoy musicals and musical theatre and loved the movie Grease so we were really looking forward to the show. The backdrops were good but we found the quality of the singing left a lot to be desired - particularly with the females. Sandy was very disappointing - she did not have the voice to carry off an Olivia Newton John character. Either the actress who played Rizzo or the one who sang Freddy had much stronger, better voices. I thought the best number was Greased Lightning and the worst was Hopelessly Devoted to You. I would not go and see this again nor would I recommend it to anyone though to be fair, the rest of the audience seemed to enjoy it very much and people in our seating area gave them a standing ovation at the end.

    Good but not Great

by Princess1988 on 2010-11-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The singing and dancing was great, but the storyline is very different from the movie. As a HUGE fan of the movie (it is my all-time favorite), I was very disappointed that they changed up the ordering of songs, missed some important scenes, and even changed Sandy's character a bit. Overall, it was a great performance, but somewhat forgettable.

    Didn't change my life.

by Cuteshoes on 2010-11-10Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It was a nice evening out, but the show was average at best. I liked that people were getting dressed up in their letterman jackets and pink ladies jackets.
