    PHANTOM

by GRAMS6274 on 2009-09-30Detroit Opera House - Detroit

THE ORCHERSTRA AND MUSICALS VERY GOOD,After seeing it 3 times @ The Pantageous Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, a building that was made especially for this production which ran for 7 years was a bit dissapointed in the costumes, the size of stage and the special effects. Toronto was amazing and much longer in duration. I guess it's like comparing apples to oranges. I took my 11 yr. old granddaughter and she was mezmorized, especially being her 1st. time and no other production to compare it too. She truly loved it. You did a remarkable job though with what was at your disposal, probably likda tough when you have a travelling production. Did truly enjoy though, especially seeing the joy in my granddaughters face made it all worth while..BRAVO!!!

    Phantom was Awesome

by daelephant on 2009-09-28Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I would recommend this play for everyone to see. It was awsome. The costumes and set were truly amazing. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to understand a thing that was being said or sung, but heard and understood everything. The singing and speaking was done in English. The orchestra was top notch, the organ playing was superb. You sure knew when the Phantom was going to appear. It really is a must see show, a wonderful experience.

    Phantom of the Opera

by anniee on 2009-09-28Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I totally love the Phantom - was my 3rd time seeing it. Be careful where you sit though. We were in Mezz. Balcony Level, hard to see and many heads in the way. So I was bent like a pretzel constantly straining to see.

    Awesome with some suggestions

by DanOH on 2009-09-26Detroit Opera House - Detroit

The show was awesome! Probably the best one I've seen yet, since 1998. The singers were so good; the music was awesome and the design and costumes were fantastic!!! I do have two suggestions however. 1) During "Too Many Notes", it was very hard to hear what each character was saying... I've seen it numerous times, so I know what they're saying, but for people who are seeing it for the first time, it was hard for them to understand what was going on. (Same thing with Primadona). 2) The chandelier fell very slowly; the chandelier crash is the biggest scene in the first act, and it was a bit disappointing to see how slow it fell. HOWEVER, THE REST OF THE SHOW OUTWEIGHS THOSE 2 THINGS, SO A JOB WELL DONE, AND IF I COULD, I'D SEE IT AGAIN WHILE IT'S STILL IN DETROIT!!!!!!!

    Phantom

by RabidWolverine on 2009-09-24Detroit Opera House - Detroit

Really good. I have seen it before in Toronto and London, UK. The theatre is very good and the performance was excellent. I was however a bit disappointed with the chandaler crash scene, it was much more spectacular in the show in Toronto (at the Pantages theatre)

by Person on 2009-09-22Detroit Opera House - Detroit

A bunch of friends and I were privileged enough to get tickets to see Phantom of the Opera at the Detroit Opera House. The show was incredible! The cast was incredible, the dancers were beautiful, the set was spectacular and the music was amazing. There was not a bad seat in the house and the visual effects were stunning.

    Most memorable moments

by Kazie on 2009-09-22Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I don't know when I was so touched, moved by a performance as by Phantom of the Opera. My 18 year old grandaughter wept at the end and was still weeping in the car as we left the opera. Thank you for coming to Detroit.

Phantom of the Opera, it was a night out

by Alberto on 2009-09-19Detroit Opera House - Detroit

We have seen the Phantom of the Opera performance before , we found it nice to be a night out ,but the performance in detroit on friday night was a bit disappointing. the props seem very simple, the plot was not complete, and the singing was not up to par, but the costumes were very colorful. I hope future performances will be better. The Detroit location is verry close to home making it handy for us.

I Could See Phantom a Million Times!

by ZoeandAndisGmama on 2009-09-18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I have been to see several stage productions of Phantom of the Opera as well as the movie version. I could see this a million times and still want to go again. The Detroit Opera House was a first time setting for the event for me and it was fabulous. Even with the troubled economic times in the city, the place was still packed. The actors were great, the costumes fantastic, the scenery beyond convincing. The music, oh the music. I will be listening to the CD again for a long time to come. Every woman there is sitting in her seat wishing someone special would sing one of those romantic ballads to her. I had to make a lot of sacrifices to make it to this event, and I'm so glad I did. Wonderful!

    Fantastic Phantom

by Joie0256 on 2009-09-14Detroit Opera House - Detroit

We can't say enough positive things about seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Detroit Opera House. From the beautiful theater, to the impressive stage effects. However,it was the talent of the entire cast made the play absolutely perfect, their singing abilities were amazing. My daughter's comment as we left the theater was " can we go again before the play leaves Detroit." I think that says it all.
