Monster Jam Canada Is a Joke
by DukesFan on 2010-01-18Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5I have been attending Monster Jam in Toronto for the past 6 years. I was ready to give up but in 2009 Dennis Anderson made and appearance and it was worth the money. Dennis said to the fans that he would be back in 2010 and would bring friends with him. I know we are from Canada so the big names like Dennis Anderson, Tom Meents, Jim Creten don't always make it. But to charge us the same ticket prices as you would with a field in the USA that is filled with all of the stars is not fair. Not to mention charging us 7.75 for a hot dog, $4.oo for a bottle of water, or $4.50 for a 591ml bottle of Coke. The promoters must think we are stupid when they advertise the truck names but not the drivers. Adding drivers that are independants and don't have the money to repair their trucks is very obvious as they slowly creep over the car stacks i am sure I could do the same with my regular Chevy Pickup. The Saturday show I lost count at 4 broken trucks. There was only 2 good freestyle performances, and lets be honest that is what everyone wants to see. Those that didn't break down either rolled gently over the obstacles or flipped over right away. The experience of Randy Brown in GraveDigger was obvious, he was able to make the turns without rolling over. His performance was good but nowhere in the area of Anderson, or any of the other drivers we see on Speed. One good performance doesn't cut it, when the others were so disappointing. If Dennis Anderson was to watch the show put on Saturday night, he would be embarassed to have this sport represented like this. I guess we are expected to cross the border in order to get a real show where everyone tries their best. The only positive part of the show was American Guardian worked throughout the entire evening in order to get ready and return for Freestyle, although he flipped over right away at least he tried. I was frustrated to find out that Anderson was a no show for Toronto, because of his comments last year I purchased tickets for my Dad, Wife, Brother in Laws, Sons, and Nephew. I was appoligetic to them after leaving the show.
