About

Aerosmith have been one of the most iconic American rock bands for over 50 years. It started with their early ’70s rockstar lifestyle to their late ’80s comeback and sustained mainstream success through the new millennium. Forming in 1970 as a blues-rock group in Boston, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut in 1973. Although the band initially gained traction for their debut single “Dream On,” it wasn’t until their third album, 1975’s Toys in the Attic, that they exploded onto the international scene behind the multi-platinum singles “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way.” The band’s 1987 album Permanent Vacation was positioned as a comeback of sorts, setting the stage for 1989’s Pump, which earned the group their first Grammy award in 1991 for “Janie’s Got a Gun.” In the 1990s, Aerosmith racked up three more Grammys, two chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200 with 1993’s Get a Grip and 1997’s Nine Lives and seven No. 1 singles on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Although their core lineup of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford has remained relatively unchanged throughout their five-decade career, Aerosmith have managed to reinvent themselves for multiple generations. Across 15 studio releases, Aerosmith have sold over 150 million albums worldwide.

    Aerosmith Warms Toronto!

by RonL1 on 2012-11-29Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Despite one prominent Concert Review Writer's opinion (the one that works for "the Little Paper that Grew"), Aerosmith was at their best Tuesday night in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre! She likes the focus on all the "politics" revolving around Aerosmith and not their music unfortunately. From this reviewer's standpoint (and a concert veteran that has seen Aerosmith at least a dozen times since 1976), the fact they played the same venue (with same opening act Cheap Trick) back in June, this show even had a little extra "oomph". Aerosmith, unlike some of their contemporaries (i.e. Rush) embrace their early albums and Tuesday night's show was no exception. Beginning with the show opener "Mama Kin" to "Movin Out" ( a song lead singer Steve Tyler confessed was "the first song" he and lead guitarist Joe Perry ever wrote together) to "Walking the Dog" to the encore "Dream On", Aerosmith demonstrated a commitment to playing their first album classics. In addition, the classic Brad Whitford-penned "Last Child" and Perry's "Combination" are an aggressive 1-2 punch from their 4th album "Rocks". Sandwiched in between were later classics "Love in An Elevator", "Livin' on the Edge", "Rag Doll" and "Dude Looks Like A Lady".. all played with a relentless fury. Even the new tunes from their latest LP "Music from Another Dimension" were with classic Aerosmith intensity. Drummer Joey Kramer had a funky drum solo (with assistance from Tyler nonetheless) and segued into "Rag Doll". However, arguably their best album "Toys in the Attic" ... they decided to save the best for last beginning with "No More No More", ending the regular set with megahit "Walk this Way" and then a second encore with perhaps their most recognizable tune "Sweet Emotion" and the bass playing prowess of Tom Hamilton. Overall, a band that recognizes it's blue's roots and an ability to keep their various generations of fans common interest is this band's overwhelming strength. A strong 4 and 1/2 out of 5 for sure!!

Aerosmith Rocks - Tyler has still got it!!!!

by clarkey on 2012-11-29Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Got tickets at the last minute and so glad I did. Took my son with me, his first time seeing Aerosmith. They played for 2 hours but seemed longer as they did almost everything I could want to hear. Tyler asked someone from the audience for their drink (he's sober) and instead of drinking it, he dabbed it on as though it were cologne. Would see them again in a heartbeat.

    Fantastic Performance!

by migtam20 on 2012-11-29Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Steven Tyler was amazzzzzzzzzzing! Didn't stop for 2hrs!! You can tell they were having fun! Sounded great and interactive with floor audience! Cheap Trick wasn't that great, but weren't terrible. Whoever, did their sound for the set, WoW, they sounded awful.

    Aerosmith....they still have it!

by MauiBabe on 2012-11-29Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Front man Steven Tyler can still rock it out with the best of em. Concert was awesome. Not alot of concert tricks or wow factors on stage other than ST's wardrobe...only he could pull that off and still look cool. He looks great..but I can't say that I am diggin' Joe Perry's movember. That's gotta go. The music was great but would have loved to hear a few more of thier older more familiar tunes but I suppose that's my fault for not buying their new album in advance of the show. The side wings of their stage was not used very much and I am sure fans were disappointed not to see them close up more often in those sections but he did cover the rest of the stage pretty good....especially the end of the catwalk. Those fans had great seats as he spent alot of time on the runway.

Aerosmith was Rocking The Blues at the Tacoma Dome

    by Python46 on 2012-08-31The Tacoma Dome - Tacoma, WA. U.S.A. August 8, 2012

On August 8, 2012, another stellar and epic night of LIVE entertainment at Tacoma’s famous dome in Washington State. Classic Rock stars Aerosmith, featuring the always flamboyant and exciting Steven Tyler right from his stint on American Idol. We had just heard he quit and was so happy for the band. I have always been a huge fan of Joe Perry but Aerosmith is not Aerosmith without both of them. Together they are the ‘bread and butter,’ the ‘meat and potatoes’ The complete artistic cornerstone of this truly American and Boston Based Iconic Blues-Rock Band ! Yes, WOW that was a mouth full. If You want to be entertained, Aerosmith will do that and much more. With Joey Kramer on drums with the coolest Bass player in the industry Tom Hamilton and the great Brad Whitford on Guitar also, this original line-up still gives the audience the Rock medicine they crave. That hit of Blues and mean Boston Rock and Roll ! I Love these guys like no other band out there. Steven’s music abilities are amazing. Percussion, harmonica, piano and his vocals that still sound as if it’s 1975 and he’s belting out Dream On for the first time. Flamboyant front man too. His wildness on stage is only imitated but never duplicated. He is the Original Steven Tyler! Man, he is cool ! Joe Perry has such passion. With his stellar guitar licks and riffs, he has created some amazing music to go with the cool lyrics that make up some of the best Blues Rock in the world since Aerosmith began. These two, once called the Toxic Twins, need each other, they feed off each other. After 40 years together you not only see it , you can feel the connection they have. During the show they spend most of it side by side. This was only my third time seeing Aerosmith. First was 1978 World Music festival in Toronto, second, the final tour stop in Vancouver, B.C. Sept 2010’s performance that celebrated what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday. We all wished John a happy Birthday for Yoko Ono. Then this tour and again Tacoma was almost the last stop, another date was made back in Virginia. Thanks for giving me a setlist. I needed the Aerosmith for the collection. Maybe one day I’ll get it autographed too. They have a new album coming out and this album will be another classic too. We’ll be there and I will tell you what it was like. We got to hear the new song Legendary Child from the upcoming release. To sweeten the deal, Cheap Trick was the opening band. Holy crap, what another amazing 1970’s era iconic Rock group. Rick Neilsen, The always funny but super talented lead guitarist and vocals, Robin Zander, The lead Vocals from the beginning and still has that special flare in his voice , I feel fifteen again listening to Surrender. Tom Petterson is astounding on his signature Twelve string bass,( he invented it!), and is incredible. Daxx Neilson, Rick’s son, replaced Bun. E. Carlos on Drums a few years ago and is perfect. We had a special treat, both Brad Whitford and Seattle’s own Duff McKagan (Guns and Roses, LOADED ) joined Cheap Trick on Stage. With the extra killer guitars on stage it makes for a great sound! It’s great to be able to see and enjoy this group LIVE again. The last time we saw Cheap Trick I scored their autographs and on a setlist too, as well as my Live In Budokan Album. These two Iconic bands together was such a treat. The next tour is already planned, a new album with more great hits. Rock and Roll !

by nasimius on 2012-08-13Tacoma Dome - Tacoma

Perry should not sing solo he is by far far far not Steve Tyler, the sound system sucked should sing their own songs not the Beatles or Perry to say the least. Dream On was AWESOME though

    Aerosmith and Cheap Trick

by Monible on 2012-08-08Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Cheap Trick was boring. Aerosmith had some great music, of course!! Steven Tyler Rocks!!... Drum solo was awesome... My son loved watching Joe Perry... We were at the Hollywood Bowl... COuld not see a thing, up too high and no video coverage on the big screens.... Had to leave early because people started smoking dope in our area... NOt the bands fault, but the venue did nothing to remedy this... A shame really, because this was for my son's 13th birthday as Aerosmith is his favorite band... it's too bad that stupid people wrecked the night....

Back home in Montreal after having the chance to see Aerosmith in Boston. Show was fantastic, saw Aerosmith over 20 times since the mid seventies and like wine, they get better with age. From the beginning to the end, they played with energy songs from 4 decades. Highly recommeng any body into classic rock to go and check the Globall warming tour.

    Aerosmith's Global Assault

by RonL1 on 2012-07-08Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Two years ago when Aerosmith last hit the stage at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, it was the evening of the infamous Joe Perry nudging Steven Tyler into the audience and sparked a viral electronic media frenzy on the "fued between the Toxic Twins". Consequently, that show was mailed in and was just the average Aerosmith show. In complete contrast, June 27th's Aerosmith show (with largely much of the same set list as two years ago) was a remarkably jammy and inspired gig that showed Aerosmith at it's best: blues inspired, raw and sometimes "loose". Maybe Tyler and Perry were over doing it with their renewed love affair, but when the pair came through the floor of the walkway to begin the show with the 1977 classic "Draw the Line", the roof was blown off the ACC! Following quickly with fan favourite "Love In Elevator", a rocking and definitve second number in a set of 20 songs. Even the new numbers from the forthcoming album (now delayed to November sadly) "Oh Yeah" and "Legendary Child" fit in well with the other Aerosmith classics like "Livin' on the Edge" ,"Rag Doll" and "No More No More". The highlights of the set were clearly the old "chestnuts" like Rock's "Last Child" (with Brad Whitford taking centre stage with incredible guitar chops) and the second album's "SOS Too Bad". The latter song that Tyler referenced old Maple Leaf Gardens as the last venue they played this particular number back in the drug induced 1970's. It included videos of the band during their "hey day". Closing the show with the trio of hits from their third album "Toys in the Attic" were in succession "Big Ten Inch Record" (first time played on this tour), "Sweet Emotion" (with obligatory Tom Hamilton Bass solo) and of course the classic set closer "Wlak This Way" with the full audinece participation factor and waving their hands in the air, as led by head cheerleader Tyler. During the band introductions prior to that inspired rocking tune was the introduction of drummer Joey Kramer's son, who like other sons of famous drummers, also plays percussion! The second generation of rockers continues to grow evidently. The encores included the really antique numbers "Dream On" with Tyler playing piano and rising through the same hole on the walkway that began the show and finishing with the old Yardbirds classic from "Get Your Wings" LP, "Train Kept a Rollin'" with lots of wailing guitar interchange with Perry and Whitford. Like one of my friends at the concert remarked to me early in the show"they don't sound that tight tonight"... which my rebuttal was "That'll make for a good show"... which it was ...a Guitar and Global Assault!

    As Always, Aerosmith was Amazing!!!!

by EJE1 on 2012-07-03Air Canada Centre - Toronto

First saw this band over 40 years ago. I was blown away at the intense level of energy on the stage by all band members. It was electric!!! Steven, definitely still has it and sounded great the entire show (looked fantastic as well). Nothing better than dancing and singing along with my 14 year old daughter and we both loved it!!

    Aerosmith rocked Canada!!

by Nette62 on 2012-07-03Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I have to admit...Aerosmith put on a great concert! Steven Tyler definitely carries the band strongly with Joe Perry. He is tremendously entertaining although he tended to stay more on the right side of the stage (I was on the left side, begging for him to come in our direction). I noticed there was a teleprompter on the stage which he had to refer to from time to time (for words to the songs). Overall, the band was AWESOME - so glad I was a part of it. The one big problem I had was that there were NO screens on the sides for us to see the band closer. I was in the 310 section (just above the stage) but unless you were sitting infront of the stage, you could see the middle screen. I've never been to a concert where there were no side screens for all the fans to see. That was a disappointment.

    Stevie Still "Has It"!

by TheTrace on 2012-07-03Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Steven Tyler and the boys came out and gave it 100%. Perry and Tyler seemed to be back on track and the show came on and raged liked a house on fire! The crowd was rockin' and was enjoying a great set of old favorites and a few newer tunes. Way to go Aerosmith - way to bring it!

    Aerosmith 'Rocks'!

by DNB7 on 2012-07-02Air Canada Centre - Toronto

High energy, enthousiastic performance. Each member had the spotlight momentarily, showcasing their individuality. Tyler & Perry's focus and entertaing prowess, never waned. A bit predictable with the song list but they always throw in a few gems for the die hards ie: SOS, Combination, Big Ten Inch, No More No More, Last Child. Never dissapointed!

by Artlesswonder on 2012-07-02Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Definitely one of the best concerts of the last few years, and the best I have ever seen Aerosmith play. I've seen these boys in concert many times since their drug hazed mess in 1978. The band is in fine playing form now and they seemed to be really enjoying themselves together for the first time in a long time. There's also the fact that Aerosmith plays with the crowd in that loose and easy flirty way, one moment sly and sassy, the next, rock star cool. The bad boys from Boston had the crowd on their feet from the first strains of the opener, Draw the Line and never lost it for two solid hours. Playing most of the hoped for hits from their back catalogue as well as the occasional gem from their second album, Get Your Wings, the new material from their forthcoming album was also evident with Legendary Child. This song seriously rocks and harkens back to the sound of their 70's heyday. Hard to believe these guys are in their 60s. They rocked and showed how it's done, clearly still in their prime and on top of their game. I was pumped for days after.
