About

Who better to carry on the legacy of Mötley Crüe, Thin Lizzy and AC/DC than a no-holds-barred Aussie quartet who shamelessly indulge in rock culture excess? Australia's Airbourne have been rocking out in the over-the-top style of their favorite '70s and '80s acts since 2001 and show no signs of slowing down.

Formed in Warrnambool in the early '00s, Airbourne initially consisted of brothers Joel and Ryan O'Keeffe, who played lead guitar and drums, respectively. They were soon joined by rhythm guitarist David Roads and Adam Jacobson on bass. Together, the quartet left for Melbourne and released their first EP: 2004's self-financed Ready To Rock.

Their fanbase expanded as Airbourne opened for big-name acts like The Rolling Stones and Mötley Crüe. In 2006, they traveled to the United States to record their debut album, Runnin' Wild, at Capitol Records with producer Bob Marlette. The album was later released in 2007 via Roadrunner Records.

That same year, Airbourne toured with Kid Rock and Korn and issued a live EP, Live At The Playroom. In 2010, they released their sophomore album, No Guts. No Glory, which was nominated for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards. The next year, Airbourne supported Iron Maiden on the UK leg of their Final Frontier World Tour.

In 2013, the band released their third album, Black Dog Barking, which was produced by Brian Howes and later nominated for another ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album. The next year, Airbourne began recording their fourth studio album, Breakin' Outta Hell, which arrived in 2016.

Breakin' Outta Hell became the group's highest charting album in multiple countries: Australia at No. 13, Austria at No. 3, Germany at No. 3, Switzerland at No. 4, and UK at No. 9. It was also nominated for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album at the ARIA Music Awards in 2017. That same year, founding rhythm guitarist David Roads announced that he would be leaving the band. He was replaced by Matt "Harri" Harrison, who had previously played in Palace Of The King.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Runnin' Wild, Airbourne released a compilation album in 2017 called Diamond Cuts: The B-Sides. In 2019, the band released their fifth studio album, Boneshaker, which was produced by Dave Cobb and broke the Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland. In 2022, they hit the road for a North American tour. Catch this hard-rocking band live when they come to a city near you.

    Best. Concert. Ever. Period.

by AndyMania on 2010-08-09The Odeon Events Centre - Saskatoon

Airbourne's concert was absolutely phenomenal! Being in the Odeon with the small crowd, you could really feel the energy of the band and get right into the show with the band members. The music was fantastic and the energy they all displayed was ridiculous!!! I strongly recommend everyone who enjoys this style of music to go see their show, especially if it's in a smaller venue.

Airbourne was wicked, I hope they are around for a very long time. Never been to the Odeon. Just would like to say that I have figured out the Odeon's strategy. ---> cut out the airconditioners when it is muggy and 30+C outside, and then jack up the price of booze. Odeon = a company run very greasily.

    Watch out AC/DC!!!!!

by divodiva on 2010-08-09The Odeon Events Centre - Saskatoon

LOUD AND FULL OF ENERGY, these kids are the AC/DC of the 21st century!!! The sound was great (if you love it LOUD), but I could have done without the mosh pit which got a little out of hand - thanks for having security at this event! If you love real rock n roll - you will love these guys.

    Airbourne Rules!!!

by RockFan506 on 2010-08-09The Odeon Events Centre - Saskatoon

I heard about their amazing energy and now I saw it. When the lead singer rolled through the crowd in Saskatoon with his cordless guitar blasting and jumped up on the bar and played a solo, it reminded me so much of the 80's hard rocking hair bands. Rock n' roll is back with these guys. I'd see them again if they were here again tomorrow! Loud, brash, high tempo, awesome.

    Amazing performers, underrated band

by Metalinc on 2010-08-05The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I go to A LOT of concerts, and I will honestly say I haven’t been to a concert and had that much fun in the last 5 years. Airbourne are such an incredible live band, their performance and energy are like no other. From the beginning of their set right to the end they were going nuts on stage, moving around all over the place, head banging and doing guitar solos on top of the speakers and even at one point the singer jumped into the crowd and played guitar solos at the back and side bars… just an incredible amazing performance! I highly recommend Airbourne a must see show!

Great performance, but needed a 'sound check'...

by sarossi on 2010-08-05Elements Night Club - Kitchener

First off, the venue was terrific! The staff was friendly, the place was clean and (speaking as a parent who brought a 6 year old) it offered great seating up at the front of the stage (for him to be able to see)!!! Both 'guest' bands were awesome - with great stage presence. As usual AIRBOURNE was amazing! The guys came out full of energy and just kept on going until the end. A special treat for the crowd was when lead singer came out and started walking around the audience (playing his guitar on top of the speakers and on the bar). This is the 3rd time we have seen AIRBOURNE and each time is unforgetable! The only complaint, is that someone screwed up doing the sound check, because the sound was aweful. The lead mic was too high in pitch and kept screeching, and one of the backup vocal mics was a bit off creating somekind of echo. It was a good thing we knew the songs, as any words were hard to make out...but hey, it was a rock concert...so we just tried to overlook it and have a good time!

    Airbourne is a MONSTER

by Rubba on 2010-08-04THE CAPITAL MUSIC HALL - Ottawa

If you like high-energy bands, Airbourne is a must-see. Great guitar solos, not to mention a run through the crowd while laying out a few riffs. If you don't see this show, you will regret it. Next time through, these guys will be playing stadiums and arenas. See them up close and personal now!

    Great Show!!

by RoodyPoo on 2010-08-04Elements Night Club - Kitchener

The show was fantastic!! The band has so much energy and are a pleasure to watch performing live. The only complaint that I would have is that the sound was TOO LOUD!! I love loud music, but this was to a point that the sound became too distorted and it was difficult to dintinguish what the band was playing. Other than that, I still loved it. Airbourne, in my opinion, is one of the best acts to come along in a very long time. Rock on !!!!

    Airbourne was great

by DeputyDog on 2010-08-03THE MUSIC HALL - LONDON

Loud! Took my son 17 to his first concert. He loves AC/DC as well as Airbourne. It is the first rock concert I have been to in 30 years so I am currently trying to regain my hearing this morning. Obviously sound has improved in the last 30 years since I last saw Aerosmith, Bowie, Blue Oyster Cult, Supertramp, Styx, the Tubes, UFO and others. I work for the emergency services, so I hope I can hear the call go over the paging system. The performance was flawless and the boys played solid as a unit. To see them in this format/setting was awesome. It felt intimate, like they were very much into the 400 or so in attendance. At different feel then you get in front of 20 or 30 thousand. Thanks for making this a memorable moment.

by Oldman1 on 2010-08-03THE CAPITAL MUSIC HALL - Ottawa

Unbelievable energy....ACDC's heir apparent! A lot of Angus Young's and Mick Jagger's stage energy/swagger is in this band..and that's a great thing!

2nd time around was as good as the first

by Cornpone on 2010-08-01THE CAPITAL MUSIC HALL - Ottawa

The show was full of energy and excitement.... just as before....The guitars and the drums rang out good and loud......the only minor disappointment was the vocal mic on the lead singer was too low and it wasn't until the three quarter mark of the show that the sound crew realized this and adjusted it up. Other than that it was a great show and I will most definitely see them again for a third time if they come back to Ottawa.... Keep on Rockin' Airbourne....
