It was beautiful and my sister and I really loved it.
Always a childhood favourite. The music, sets & costumes a delight. Disappointed that the ballet seems to have lost some of its strongest dancers however.
My granddaughter and I went to the Alberta Ballet Sleeping Beauty performance, and both absolutely loved it. The talent was amazing. Listening to my 6 yr. old granddaughter summarizing the event for her mom was so special. Commenting on the dancers, the set, and how the story was a little different than the movie. The performance was so well done, that she was totally engaged for the greater than 2 hr. performance. Looking forward to the Nutcracker in December.
Honestly such a great performance! My daughter and I were smiling the entire time and so impressed with all the performers!! I would definitely recommended as both a date night or to families for an entertaining afternoon/evening. Les Hunter
The ballet "The Sleeping Beauty"was awesome in every possible way: the choreography, dancing technique, costumes, decorations, and staging. However, the absence of the orchestra -real P. I. CHAIKOVSKY- during the performance, created a sense of watching it from the huge screen. Live music this is why spectators flock to the theater. Hopefully, Calgary symphonic orchestra will be employed more often during such fabulously staged productions.
Got last minute tickets to see Christopher Anderson's staging of Sleeping Beauty. The Tchaikovsky music brings the world of the Fairy Kingdom to life. The dancing in this 2 hour version of classical ballet is enthralling. The ticket and seating I got gave an amazing sightline. Registering for Ticketmaster was a slow process and downloading the required app was blocked by repeated attempts. Thanks to the box office a printed ticket made for easy entry into the theatre. So, yes support the Alberta Ballet a local gem.
It was a beautiful performance, very moving and well designed.
The ballet was beautiful, but I was disappointed by the lack of a live orchestra.
The costumes were fantastic, the performance outstanding. The sets were beautiful. I would recommend this show to anybody that loves ballet. It was worth every penny. It was good for all ages. I loved the way it moved quickly and kept you entertained the entire time. I would do it again. Proud to be an Albertan the Alberta ballet is outstanding. Love it Love it Love Love it Love it Love it !!!
It was magical, everyone killed it!! The costumes and set were so beautiful, it all just felt like a fairytale (which of course was the point but wow did they ever deliver!!)
My daughter and I attended The sleeping Beauty ballet on opening night. We both thoroughly enjoyed the performance, the dancers were excellent, the costumes spectacular and the music beautiful, it was a great evening.
Beautiful production throughout. A charming night out.
My spouse, a ballet aficionado, convinced me that we should attend. From the opening scene to the final bows, it was amazing. The story of Evita was well portrayed with the dance articulating the characters so clearly. As we left the hall, we were mesmerized with the power of the performance as well as the story. The musicians supporting the ballet were excellent and the inclusion of the bandolero was perfect. While the audience clearly enjoyed it as well, we remain disappointed that the hall was no where full and that Edmontonians missed this amazing performance.
Amazing experience. One of the 3 best ballets I have seen. The dancers were incredibly expressive in telling a story that resonated even if you didn't know the tale. Their expertise and the beautiful choreography was on point. The lovely costumes added to the experience as did the venue. Thanks to all involved in making my night.
Wonderful evening, great dancing and creative choreography. We loved it!
Dona Peron was a wonderful performance, the story of a controversial woman, and a fine evening's entertainment. I appreciated also Ticketmaster's instructions for using mobile tickets.
The storyline itself pulls you into the theatre if you love ballet in all of its forms, like classical, modern, contemporary, you name it. The dancers displayed an extraordinary technique and amazing choreography. The live music rounded it up to a fascinating and impressive performance.
Doña Perón performed by Ballet Hispánico was exceptional, I must say. Artistic. Captivating. Stunning. Thank you to Alberta Ballet for bringing this dynamic work to the Edmonton stage.
What a powerful & mesmerising performance! Really outstanding. Bravo!
An unmistakable story presented with raw artistic talent. Took away an image for reflection and so memorable.
