Elton Rules!
by Largolass on 2011-10-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5Amazing! Non ballet lovers would love this! This is one of the ways to go to woo non-ballet lovers into the Theatre. The choreography was so varied and clever that you did not realize you were watching Ballet per se.
Amazing Dancers
by WestCoastRed on 2011-10-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5Very entertaining, amazing dancers, spectacular costumes reflecting the early Elton John era, great music although Elton John live would have been better.

Great theatrics
by tews on 2011-10-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5We all thought that the show was great, costumes and dancing were wonderful. The four of us ranged from thirties to sixties. One of our group was calling a friend during intermission to get tickets for the next show. The demonics were strong in every way. The choreography could have been stronger and less repetitive in some numbers but overall this was a great show.
Ballet + Elton John = Winning Combination
by runner1 on 2011-10-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5Amazing costumes, video screen, great dancers, and music by Elton John and Bernie Taupin provided a visual and audio treat. It was a high energy show and Elton John portrayed by Yukichi Hatto was particularly outstanding. Full of stamina and talent, Hatto gave a brilliant performance along with the many costume changes while still on stage. The dancers and the choreography of the 14 songs did a fine job of portraying various highlights and lowlights of Elton John's life.
What an accomplishment!

by AllanQ on 2011-10-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5The production was very well done. I loved the costumes and the characters and I was especially impressed by Yukichi Hattori; so much energy. I loved the on stage costume changes! I hope the Joni Mitchell Ballet will tour sometime. I missed it the first time around and after seeing this I would love to what they with Joni's songs.

Performance was great! Lead dancer's stamina was truly amazing. Loved that they used a number of lesser known songs.

love lies bleeding left nothing needing
by alloha on 2011-10-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5PERFECT--PERFECT--PERFECT. I HAD TO SEE IT TWICE! THE CHOREOGRAPHY WAS SO GORGEOUS AND ATHLETIC AND PERFECTLY SPACED AS FAR AS PLACEMENT ON THE STAGE AS WELL AS INTROS AND EXITS. ALL MOVEMENTS WERE GIVEN CONSIDERATION. NOTHING JARRING AT ALL. IMAGES FROM THE TILTED SCREEN AT THE BACK ADDED SO MUCH AND IT WAS ALWAYS JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF VISUAL ACCOMPANIMENT-UNLIKE "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" LAST YEAR WHICH JUST THREW A BUNCH OF LOUD ANGRY BARBED BARF AT THE AUDIENCE, LOVE LIES BLEEDING WAS ALMOST GENTEEL. THE INTERPRETATION OF ELTON JOHN/BERNIE TAUPINS SONGS WERE SO BEAUTIFUL--EMOTIONAL, FULL BODIED AND FUNNY! AMAZING PERFORMANCES I HOPE THIS COME BACK SOON
Love Lies Bleeding
by dancephan on 2011-10-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5The company's virtuosity saved what for the most part was fairly mediocre choreography in the first half. The choreography got more interesting the fewer bodies were on stage and Grand-Maitre could focus more on smaller ensembles. HIs duets were gorgeous. In his defence I have to say that the music and the libretto pretty much dictated the number of bodies on stage. The sets and costumes were faultless. Congratulations to the Alberta Ballet and to Jean Grand-Maitre for a crowd pleaser.
Prognosis favorable for "Love Lies Bleeding"
by vancouverismine on 2011-10-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5The only negative comment to be made about this production is that there were just too few performances. Even those who would normally be dragged kicking and screaming to a ballet left with a new appreciation of what can be accomplished en pointe. Sir Elton -keep it going!!!
Love Lies Bleeding is Sensational!
by EltonLover16 on 2011-10-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5completely unforgettable! The costumes are out of this world as are the dancers. It was art in motion that brought you to tears. A total must see!
Performers were incredible

Thank you, Elton John
by Stahlbaum on 2011-10-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5I HIGHLY recommend this ballet. Amazing, Brilliant, Creative, Delightful, Exciting, Fun, Gargantuan, Histrionic, Idealistic... I must say, it’s really not about the music. The choreographer chose some of his lesser known songs, and the ballet story was built around Elton’s descent into drug and alcohol addiction, and how love made him conquer his inner demons. SO, I must say, I repeat, I must say, the dancing was breathtaking. A Japanese dancer was “Elton” and when I first saw him, I thought, oh no, how is he going to do this? HE was AMAZING. The bodies, the strength, the stamina!! MY GOD. Even the homosexual scenes were erotic, and very well performed. REALLY! Joyful, Kinetic, Lovely, Mosaic, Nostalgic, Opera, Perfect, Queenly, Respectful, Sad, Terrific, Unitard, Voracious, Wistful, X-rated Xanadu, Youthful, Zany.
