This ballet was unbelievable from start to finish. From the story line to the dancing, it really told Elton's story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

fabulous dancers from Alberta Ballet, great choreography telling a the very despairing story of Elton Johns addiction to cocaine and his recovery. Fabulous music and costumes.

  • Love Lies Bleeding was out of this world!

Best ballet I have ever seen! Makes ballet look so cool and progressive. I would go see this show again handsdown! Music was fantastic, dancing was outstanding, costumes were great. I didn't want it to end! The male lead was the best dancer I have I have ever seen in any show, live on tv or film! It was nice to see the spotlight given to strong male dancers for a change. Normally shows center around females but not this show. I can't stop thinking about it and raving about it too! Not intended for children though. Brought my 7 year old and she loved the dancing but felt the costumes and the actions among the men were 'inappropriate'. Brought about a quick education in cross dressing and homosexuality and prompted a lot of after show discussion. lol Fine by me though. Will certainly be a ballet that we all remember very vividly!

This is what modern ballet/dance should be. A beautiful tribute to an amazing icon of our time . The dance gave a voice to issues with sensitivity, beauty and humor. The skill of all the dancers is remarkable. Their strenght and grace inspiring.

Everything was as good as I had heard. The costumes, the music and the dancing - my gosh the dancing was fabulous. How great to see male dancers have the emphasis.

A great show. Over two hours of unbelievable high energy. If you are and Elton John fan you can't miss this. If you are not an Elton John fan you still should not miss this and you will be at the end.

Attended Love Lies Bleeding on Saturday afternoon and can't remember a time I enjoyed myself more. Dance fills up my soul and this performance most certainly did. How refreshing to have so many memorable moments by the male members of the troupe. Paying homage to Elton John you have to know the music was fabulous. I loved, loved, loved it.

  • Hope this catches on and gets wider audiences.

This was a really fun evening. 14 of Elton Johns best and great special effects. Performances like this will broaden the appeal of ballet to many, young and old. I hope Alberta Ballet can secure more touring venues. Bravo

  • Love Lies Bleeding was amazing!!!

This ballet was so amazing I recommend everyone see it! THe music was great, and there was a screen with images that added to the performance. The dancing was spectacular, the costumes were awesome, and the audience was captivated by the entire show. We were greeted by a gentleman from Ballet BC who offered my girlfriend and me a real feather boa, and he took our picture next to a beautiful bouquet of flowers sent by Elton John. He was friendly and welcoming. I have only great things to say about the experience. It makes me want to come to everything Ballet BC puts on!

  • Love Lies Bleeding worth every drop

by Mersedes on 2011-10-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening strains of Benny and the Jets' Dodger Stadium appearance inspired number to the closing Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting this was a fabulous performance. It will have you singing out loud in your seat - because we all know the words to these classic Elton John/Bernie Taupin tunes! My one and only complaint is that it was all over much too soon!

Not brilliant, but very entertaining. My 16 yr-old daughter LOVED it!

  • Love Lies Bleeding

A clever and scintilating modern ballet showcasing a short history of the life of Elton John , words and music by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The show was slick and enjoyable, the songs, music and dancing excellent with a energic finale of "Saturday Night'. Well worth seeing, if a fan of Elton John.

Exquisite, exciting, touching and enduring. A reminder of the gifts of a talented man and the pathos, trials and tribulations that creativity and uniqueness may bring to the fold. Costumes were fantastic in all of their grandeur and their simplicity. I enjoyed the different levels of introducing dance via the aerial to the revolving stage. All members of the troupe performed as an intricate piece of passion and dedication. The music, the dance, costumes, the visual effects to the legendary music itself were a visual and audio treat. My only question is, " OMG, Can you imagine a live orchetra with Elton John performing"
