  • Alejandro Escovedo is a special man!

by Anekouzad on 2013-10-04Winter Garden Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

this was the first time that I attended his live show, and I am glad I did. it was not like what you see of him on the You Tube, It was much better. it was an amazing performance with him playing the acoustic guitar with support of a complimentary violinist, she was excellent too. He played great and sang amazing, his voice reminded me of Joe strummer's, he sang from the heart and songs were so personal on many levels. the intimate setting helped too. I hope he continues doing acoustic sets. The people around me were in agreement, myself included that how Shelby Lynne is going to follow his performance , had not felt like this after a show in many a years. just great. pity it was not a longer set.

Alejandro's charm and Shelby's spirit made for an unforgettable evening

  • Alejandro was fantastic....as usual.

This guy is a remarkable talent who flies under the radar for some unknown reason. It is a shame that more people don't about him. He puts on a high energy show and really engages the fans. He played a lot of stuff from his last two albums, Street Songs of Love and Real Animal, which are probably his best work.

  • Alejandro is amazing

by Scuttle on 2010-10-04The Opera House - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

A truly amazing concert from a great artist. Why is this guy not headlining at the ACC? From the rocking opening numbers, taken from his latest album (the title track 'Street Songs of Love' a personal fave) to the quieter, acoustic based stuff such as 'Rosalie' and beyond into the extended jam that was 'Sex Beat'...Whew! It was a great ride. The people who were at the Opera House were treated to the best that rock (although Alejandro and his stellar band really defy labels - true genre busters) has to offer. All I can say is: 'Spread the word - tell your friends! You gotta see this guy!!'

Well AE delivered a great show, and his guitar guy was very impressive. It was an interesting venue, just wiished more people would have danced as he was putting out the challenge. Good crowd, the venue is a little interesting to say the least. Paying another 5.oo bucks to become a member so we can drink was a little surprising. Oh well the price we pay to have great music.

I love Alejandro's energy and diversity almost as much as his spirit, heart and talent. He is timeless and crosses genres effortlessly. A true talent. Hope he'll be back soon.

  • a real gift

    by bradford on 2009-07-17Trinity-St. Paul's Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What an experience;to see one of america's great song writers in a perfect venue. We saw Alejandro at The Mod Club last summer. This show was a great bookend. The first was a loud high energy set, showing off the best of REAL ANIMAL.The St.Paul's show was an intimate acoustic set highlighting more of his music and his wonderful storytelling.Musicianship and harmonies were perfect.Could'nt ask for more. How do two acoustic guitars and a violin translate all the energy and percussion of ALWAYS A FRIEND,and manage to sound so tight.Really amazing!!!

  • Alejandro Escovedo Bears All

    by TuneBlendR on 2009-07-17Trinity-St. Paul's Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Alejandro Escovedo's Trinity-St. Paul's concert was intimate, open and honest; an enlightening journey through the past to discover the heart and motivations behind his deep songwriter's descriptive moving passages. A reflective look of an inspired artist who has endured a rough road through humble beginnings to portraying his insightful commentary while enduring his continued self discovery. And did I mention the Music was WICKED! It was also great to meet after the show and get him to sign my vinyl... I asked him if there was a special message he garnered working on his latest album with Tony Visconti, and he wrote the following before signing: "Sensitive Boys want all your Love --- Or they want no Love at all... " If you EVER get the chance to see Alejandro -- GO, you will not be disappointed!

Ajejandro was electric and won many new converts. He is one of rock's best kept secret. What a beautiful setting for the concert, great acoustics
