Don't come expecting rowdy hit tunes, come with your listening ears ON. The choice of well written and carefully crafted songs from his lifetime were a treat. I hope they make a recording of this since you can't catch it all. He intelligently picked a set list that was rich and rewarding for the finely tuned audience. (the who's who of the left in my town!). Bruce is a gift, how lucky to hear him touring after decades of seeing him. also note very good guitar collection!

Doesn’t get much better than this. Have been seeing Bruce in concert since 1971, and that amazing song writing just keeps pouring out of this oh so special artist.

  • Powerful performance

Powerful performance. Cockburn knows how to put out. In spite of his health challenges that do restrict some of his choices of songs, i still walked away on a cloud. The guy is always, as usual, more than the sum of his music and his amazing presence.

Iconic. Proud to see humans like Bruce. I wish more leaders could embody his virtues.

  • Amazing Music, and a Real Love-Fest for Bruce

by Bill H on 2023-12-08FirstOntario Concert Hall - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Sadly, Bruce Cockburn is losing some physical capacities (he came onstage with canes, and explained that arthritis had forced him to change his guitar-playing), but he was still incredibly good at guitar-playing, singing, and, after all these years, songwriting. He played some old favourites that got the crowd singing along (best crowd vocals I've heard maybe ever), but he played most of the songs from his 2023 album, and they were just as good and well-received as the old stuff. The fact that he is still writing great songs into his seventies is fantastic, and you could tell the crowd was just loving it. This venue is always great and he had amazing art from his new album hanging above him. Bravo Bruce!

What's not to like... Still got it. New album material was great.

  • Bruce nailed it!

by Bee Have on 2023-10-14FirstOntario Concert Hall - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruce was really really good! He sang some old and some new, he was charming and engaging. Rude people yelled out requests, it was obnoxious but he tolerated it well. Bruce is 78 years old, clearly father time hasn’t been that kind, his bones hollowed out his fingers not cooperating . He said I don’t give a flying f&@, and he hit the stage and gave us what we came for, beautiful music. Bruce gave us his all, he was amazing! Yes I’m a huge fan, my kids not so much, but I dragged them along. In the end though they bought his vinyl so they are converts now! Bruce killed it! Thank you:)

  • A Concert for the Ages

by soozenD on 2023-10-14FirstOntario Concert Hall - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

When I think of Bruce, I typically think of his political and environmental activism expressed through his extraordinary musical talent. His new album O Sun O Moon which he is currently touring, doesn't shy away from his values or beliefs, but it goes further in revealing the heart and soul of a man who has made a profound impact on the music of our time. With heart stopping simplicity, Bruce alone, sings and plays his collection of songs, with glorious harmonics in his playing and sobering authenticity of his lyrics. I felt like I was in a church of sorts, a moment of pause in a distressing world where Bruce generously indulged the audience with his grace, his appreciation and his truths acquired and refined throughout a life time. Our party described the concert as a long drink of smooth whisky or being embraced in a warm blanket. But beyond that we heard in his music, the connection not just between past and present, but also to a future rooted in kindness. Three days on and we continue to experience the beauty of what was a historic concert of a lifetime. Our deepest appreciation to Bruce for all of it.
