April Wine was awesome. Myles Goodwin can still rock at 73 years old. They played a lot of their hits but they also left out a lot of hits. I realize they can't play them all. Still it was a great concert and the crowd loved it. Lots of people were up dancing.
Excellent evening and so refreshing to see that the band still has it! The venue was very well run with lots of help at the entrance to make sure everyone got in on time. The stage set up could be viewed from everywhere and the large screens at the sides provided an added measure of viewing pleasure.
Was a great night out. First concert since the pandemic started and i am so glad it was april wine :)
As this was our first concert after the pandemic we enjoyed just being out and about! It almost felt normal! The band played all their hits and looked like they were having a blast too!
It was 1.5 hours ... Coulda Been All Night! Dound system is not the best at Grey Eagle, but a great show regardless!
Always a good venue at the Eagle, what you get is a close perspective. However it may be nice in the future to install the risers on the flanks to enhance the viewing. The event staff do a tremendous job .
Overall a pretty solid concert that I really enjoyed. It seemed the guys had to get used to playing with each other again after such a hiatus due to the pandemic, but only for the first couple of songs. They played very well throughout, and I really enjoyed the interaction with the audience and the anecdotes about some songs and albums. Awesome.
The concert itself was awesome, the ambience getting in was to be desired. Very Socialist mindset. Treating people like sheep. Asked for proof of vaccination but not proof of ID, very stupid. Concert was only 90 minutes long with no opening act, very short evening for the money you pay
The music was great. We had fun but it’s not the same April Wine anymore.
Really enjoyed the show, the guys sounded great despite not being able to play together for almost 2 years. Really glad we went!
This show was fantastic from the beginning to the end. All their best songs and performed so well. We’d go to see April Wine again if they came to town.
Amazing band! Sounds just like they did back in the day!!
Played for an hour and a half, with a single song encore.Played most of the hits, but not all. Sound was too loud and off..not really distorted, more like sub-standard equipment. The absence of a third guitar was very noticeable. Last saw them in 2002, and they were still great then, but now a bit of a disappointment. My recommendation: if you have seen them previously, don't waist your time. But if you have never seen them, give it a shot.
Loved this amazing show! Great performance by some Very talented musicians that deserve creditability! The first song was a warm up however, the remaining familiar songs were delivered! The only critique I would mention is that the sound could have been lower as it was very abundant. The bass guitar solo could have been turned down. The hard work and great artistry was exemplified on this evening. Thank you to all the musicians, Well Done! Indeed a blast from the past. I introduced this music to a young family member and even though they were not familiar with all of AW’s songs, they were impressed. April Wine will live on....
Myles Goodwyn, lead singer, brought his A game to the concert. His iconic voice was strong, although rather muted by the very loud instrumentation. The band went through the repertoire of their hits, save for She Won’t Dance With Me, one of their more famous hits. Not sure why as it would have been a great song for the encore. All told, a great concert!
Opened with every other song being 1 you wanted to hear. Got into consecutive hits toward the end. Only a 1 song encore. Band seemed pretty stern about pics/videos being taken.
First attended an April Wine concert in the early 1970's in Lethbridge, Alberta with the young lady who would become and still is my wife. Enjoyed it then and this was no different. Their music is ageless!
April Wine played many songs I was unfamiliar with. The sound was very muffled. They left the stage for periods of time and left the bass player to fill in time. They saved their classic songs to the very end and for the encore only.
Played a lot of their classics which was good. Just like them, their core fans are getting older. So why do they always try and blow out the arena with a volume too loud. The first tune was horrible as they were trying to adjust the volume to the venue. They managed to tone it down a bit and was good for a couple of songs, but then I noticed they were boosting the volume right on stage, to the point where they had feedback problems. The venue has absolutely horrible acoustics. Bands should take that into consideration and tone their music down so it is more clear and enjoyable. Hope April Wine reads this. Also playing more than one tune for the encore would have been nice. He was complaining about getting only 2 hours of sleep. That is not the paying fan's problem.
Excellent show ihave not seen them live since 1975. myles Goodwin is a very talented singer song writer.
