    Arctic Monkeys were amazing!!!!

by sternek on 2009-09-30Kool Haus - Toronto

I've seen the Arctic Monkeys three times now and this time was one of the best. They played many songs they never have but still all the older hits. Great show!!

    Unforgettable

by MardyBum on 2009-09-30Kool Haus - Toronto

Great performance, had the crowd pumped up right from the off! Mixed in the old classics with the new stuff seamlessly. would like to have heard a few more of the old classics that made the band and wasn't impressed that the first song of the encore was a cover of some Nick Cave song (bit self indulgent I thought). Great gig though, can't wait to see them again.

    Bored band plays great music

by kaykay7 on 2009-09-28Malkin Bowl - Gorgeous location for a show - Vancouver

The band sure wasn't giving anything extra to the Vancouver fans. I was very disappointed in their performance having seen them before at the Commodore. I remember them putting on a great show filled with energy. This show was not like that one. They play their music fabulously and sound just like their albums, but they are boring to see live. Would have preferred to have stayed home and just listened to their albums! I could have had a beer or two at home too.

The Lads were in full flow, mashin the sounds of yore with the sounds of ............... Look they are 1 of the best bands in the world today. Accomplished and Turner is a lyrical monster, thanks for making Vancouver feel like home.

Monkeys in the Park - Rockin in the Dark

by Maxamillion on 2009-09-22Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Wow! They were great! Did all their hits and a few more. Alex Turner's voice was incredible especially since it was an outdoor concert. What an experience! I'd definitely see them again. Also liked The Like.

Not the greatest concert but decent

by radmusik on 2009-09-22Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Did not enjoy the opening band The Like. Seemed an odd choice as an opener. Frontman alex turner didn't seem too into the show but still performed the songs well. Crowd was really into it. Setlist was split 50/50 between old and new songs. Would have enjoyed hearing them play a bit more older stuff. All in all a decent show

    Monkeys Arctic

    by Sean1000 on 2009-09-22Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Setlist wasn't well thought out. Some good moments but there were no goosebumps. It was like watching a rehearsal for the tour, not the actual show. There seemed to be a very anemic attempt to connect with the crowd and keep them there for the set. Having not heard humbug probably didn't help, but the band is aware that likely 70% of the audience hadn't and the setlist should have been structured accordingly .

    Disappointed.

by MichaelJQ on 2009-09-22Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Arctic Monkeys are my favourite band, or should I say were. I missed the opening act, so I won't say anything bad about them, but the monkeys played a short, low enthusiasm show that lacked the songs I wanted to hear. I realize they wanted to showcase their most recent album, but their show was literally their whole new album and a couple older song, none of the hits that I wanted to hear.

    lacked showmanship

by rosa on 2009-09-22Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

i think the actual performance of the songs was excellent however there wasnt much to it. the lights were good but more enthusiasm would have been nice.

    Arctic Monkeys

by HannahWeiten on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

First of all, I'd like to point out how great the energy of the crowd was. It may have been a smaller audience at a smaller venue, but you wouldn't have guessed that based on how high energy the audience was. This was due in part to how dedicated the fans are to the Arctic Monkeys. Made for a great feel. The lighting was also spectacular. The colour choices, combined with the strobe effect, made for a great moshing experience. As for the band themself, I liked how they addressed the crowd, calling us "a lively bunch", and even performing a song they said they hardly ever perform. Made for a real connectabilty all around. Finally, I'd like to note that the audio quality was great, making for a great listening experience to accompany the effects and atmosphere. The only downfall was that the crowd shouted out for them to play a particular song, but they never actually performed it. Would have been a bit classier to give the fans what they wanted, since they're the ones paying to see them. Other than that, though, a great show was given, which is what any fan would be happy to report.

Arctic Monkeys = Very Pretty Visitors

by charliewilcox on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Amazing. They sound terrific live, better than their recordings. I got what I expected out of them, there not a jump around wild band, they just do their gig and that's that. Loved them. Alex Turner = amazing singer/lyricist. Matt Helders = nobody plays the drums that well. Jamie Cook & Nick O'Malley = play their strings like it's the back of their hands. 4&1/2 outta 5. They were great.

Arctic Monkeys are a MUST SEE!

by JIMrie on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

When i got to the venue i was put off a bit by how small it seemed from the outside, but as i entered my opinion changed. The venue is spacious and offers a great view from any spot. I was greatly impressed by the amazing energy that the band put out as well as the clarity of their sound. One thing i liked was that the band did not need to use props, pyrotechnics, or an elaborate set to impress the crowd and draw them in, in this case less was more. The subtle smoke machine and lights, and the bands pure talent was more then enough to keep the crowd entertained the entire night. I have to say, being an arctic monkey fan prior to the concert, i prefer them live to on record.

    Definitely worth it

by scottjames on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Loud and awesome. Was hoping for a few more of their older songs as most of the set was from the two newest albums, buit that is to be expected. Definitely worth the ferry and bus rides to get there.

Arctic Monkeys at the Malkin Bowl

    by Sarah2908 on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Overall this was a good show, with songs performed from all albums. They are great musicians and the drummer gets a 5 star for an amazing performance. It would have been nice to have the lead show more enthusiasm and make more contact with the crowd - he looked bored for most of the show. The Malkin Bowl is a terrible venue for this type of band as it was no alcohol allowed.

    nothing special

by ynwa on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

decent show, the band played well, but didn't seem all that into it, the songs choices were poor i thought, they didn't make any new fans this weekend.

    Arctic Monkeys Are 'Really Good!'

    by br4ssm0nk3y on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

The Malkin Bowl is a fantastic small outdoor venue in Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. The natural concave bowl allowed fans to sit on a blanket with a great view, or get really close to the stage. The Arctic Monkeys sounded just as great as their production, if not BETTER. They opened with Dance Little Liar and went right in to Brianstorm and the place went berserk.

    New Sounds

    by K6hamm on 2009-09-21Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

I have seen the Arctic Monkeys play twice before, the first two shows were very upbeat and high energy. The third show although the sound was great, I think the lead singer was to stoned to really give it his all. I will say that the sound was still great, and I enjoyed the songs from the new album Humbug.
