Arizona Coyotes History
Before they were the Arizona Coyotes, this franchise — a founding member of the World Hockey Association — was originally based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and began playing in 1972 as the Jets. The early team made headlines before the season even started after signing hockey star Bobby Hull from the Chicago Blackhawks. The Jets went on to be one of the best teams in the league, winning three titles from 1976 to 1979.
The WHA merged with the NHL before the 1979-1980 season, but the Jets were unable to maintain their dominance and the franchise was relocated to Arizona before the 1996-1997 season; they became known as the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes subsequently qualified for the postseason in each of their first four seasons and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky became a minority owner of the team in 2000 and their head coach in 2005.
After filing bankruptcy in 2009, the team was later purchased by the NHL. Despite the tumultuous seasons, the Coyotes won 50 games during the 2009-2010 season. In the 2011-2012 season, they won their first division title in franchise history. In 2013, the NHL sold the team and its name was changed to the Arizona Coyotes in 2014. Since 1997, the Coyotes have made it to the playoffs a total of nine times.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Jets in Phx 2014
by DM83 on 2014-04-04Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleJets won! What can you say, Lots of Jets fans attending. Coyotes fans got it going as well. Sounded like a playoff game! Jobing .com is one of the nicest arenas around. row 6 corner where the Jets shoot twice. Lots of leg room, amenities abound. Walk across the lane to my hotel! Doesnt get much better. Chip take note and rebuild that cramped already obsolete arena in Winnipeg. Tough to like the MTS centre after being down in AZ
Rating: 2 out of 5 Great Game - Way too much noise between play
by Maynard8 on 2014-03-09Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleThe Coyotes have a great venue and a pretty decent team. It doesn't look like there's a bad seat in the house. Now for the negatives. The rink is in the middle of nowhere on the wrong side of Phoenix. The food and drinks like in all NHL arenas are overpriced and poor quality. The so-called entertainment at each stoppage in play is unbelievably loud and annoying and disrespectful of the game of hockey. Enough with the super loud music right up to the drop of the puck. Who ever thinks this is fun and entertaining needs to give their head a shake. It make serious hockey fans want to stay away not come. But I wonder how many serious hockey fans there really are in Phoenix anyway. The NHL should have moved this team back to Canada when they had the chance.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Coyotes battled
by HurtinAlbertan on 2014-02-07Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleI thought that the game was good, but that the fan experience was very good. Much better food services than at Rexall (I am an Oiler seat holder). Better music too. I thought the fans were more passive than Edm entering and exiting the rink but louder in it.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Home Team Fans??
by AmbassadorG5 on 2014-02-04Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleGreat game! Great in-game entertainment! Great result for the Coyotes to beat the flightless birds 3-1.... but I have been to 10 games in the past two years and am wondering WHY are there ALWAYS more "away" team fans than for our Desert Dogs? Its way more fun to cheer for the home team, people!

by KDmom on 2014-01-05Jobing.com Arena - GlendalePaid the extra for valet parking -- well worth it to get ahead of the traffic.
Rating: 2 out of 5by Anonymous on 2014-01-05Jobing.com Arena - Glendale overall the event was teriffic as usual the coyotes play was somewhat uninspired but without Doane and Eckmann Larsen they were in tough, especially since it marked Horton's return for the Blue Jackets
Rating: 5 out of 5 Spending New Years with the Coyote.......ooowwwooo
by dmaninthehood on 2014-01-03Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleMy best girl took me to jobing.com arena in Glendale to bring in the New Year and watch the Coyote entertain the Oilers. What a great atmosphere it was with home team winning with a few seconds left in O.T. I have been to hockey games in Vancouver where we reside and I must say that the building was much nicer and the atmosphere was far better than the Rodgers arena. It was loud, people were just enjoying themselves and howling!!! There were lots of snowbirds there and a few love birds like us there too!! So next time you here negative comments like AZ is no place for the greatest fastest game in the world, take it with a grain of salt and do yourself a favor and go see your favorite team down there and at half the cost at the gate and a fantastic building with not a bad seat in the house!! Oh and the Churros are great too!!!

by Alfredough on 2014-01-03Jobing.com Arena - GlendaleGreat way to spend an evening .Easy to get to arena, great reasonably priced parking, restaurants close by with happy hour. Jobing.com arena is a first class facility- makes the Saddedome in Calgary look like a dump. Phoenix, to my surprise, has a very entertaining hockey team. The whole game experience was great. The 3 of us really enjoyed our New Years eve there.
